House bill to defund amnesty goes to the Senate where Republicans must take a stand.

Tish,

Thanks to the pressure put on Republicans by the grassroots, the House voted 236 to 191 yesterday to block the President's unlawful amnesty.

This is great news, but now the bill goes to the Senate where Democrats will try to block it and many Republicans secretly want it to fail.

There are two things that need to happen if we're going to win this debate.

First, Senate Republicans must stand up to the president and refuse to spend taxpayer money to implement his unlawful action.

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) may try to hold a quick cloture vote so he can throw up his hands, concede defeat, and move on to something else.

We can't allow that to happen.

Senator McConnell should bring the bill to the floor soon and keep it there until there are enough Democrats to cut off debate and advance the bill. If he is serious about stopping amnesty, he won't surrender as he has done in the past.

Now that Republicans control the Senate, they are the only ones who can take this bill off the Senate floor. If Democrats want to filibuster the bill, they should be forced to do so in front of the cameras for everyone to see.

Second, we need to pressure at least six Democrats to vote to stop the president's unlawful amnesty.

A number of Democrats voiced opposition to the president's action last year, and many others are worried about having to vote with the president on this issue.

Now is the time to call on them to support and defend the Constitution.

Some Democrats may support amnesty, but don't like the way it was done. This is their chance to show their independence and to listen to the American people.

Please call these Senate Democrats and urge them to support the House bill that defunds the president's executive amnesty. Our calls to defeat John Boehner as Speaker shocked lawmakers on Capitol Hill. Let's do it again.
