As I read the news as it comes into my inbox or flashes across my computer screen, I often shake my head (as most of us do) at the idiocy of our congress and what they are doing. Here's my question: With absolutely no experience do you (I know I wonder) wonder if you could do a better job than what is currently being done??
I really wish I could go through a term in Congress...one problem......no money. Independent platform, no amnest, no more of odimwit's illegal doings, if it benefits America and/or my state then it gets the privilege of my vote, and get all of the Benghazi information DECLASSIFIED (no redactions) and out to the public. I think I would also work hand in hand with Judicial Watch trying to get information out to the people.
Yeah...I know....if wishes were fishes

I can't tell you, Anne, how many times I have said to myself "Now, if I could take a shot at the budget, I could clear it up in a jiffy and the country would have tons of money available." It would be so full of red lines, it would be more red than black! Just think about this: stop all the funding going to ALL foreign countries - that alone would get rid of the deficit in no time! Then add on eliminating 90% of those alphabet soup agencies and, voila - we could ALL be rich! So simple, really! I have tons of other ideas, such as mandating all products used in the US must be manufactured in the US! Can you imagine the jobs??!!??!!?? Export surplus goods only - NO import! Honestly, I am becoming more of an isolationist every day! Bring ALL of our troops home from EVERY country! Time for all those other countries to take care of themselves for a change! And that would just be a good start, IMO.
Just don't forget to kick the UN out!!!!!! We would also, then drop our membersip off of the UN roles
Even MORE money we could save!!!!
Judith, neither you or I will ever get that chance. They have rigged the game against people like you and me and others who would go into public service but don't have the stomach to put up with their crap to get along.
You do bring up an interesting point. Public Service. If you ask a fireman, cop, city/county treasurer, EMT and the list goes on if they earn the salaries of a politician? All of those that I have named are considered public service providers. So why are they not making the same amount of money that the DC public service providers?
