I have grown weary of all the hoopla over what folks now days call a" HERO " ! As a Vietnam Vet of Combat it seems the word is thrown around all to readily. With this in mind to me a "HERO" is one who selflessly puts their own life on the line to further or advance the quality of others life !
With this in mind here is my rant if you will which I posted on FACEBOOK. Do others feel as I and my wife do ?

Permalink Reply by Edward S Davison Jr on February 13, 2012 at 12:40pm On November 15, 2004, Sergeant Peralta's Company was engaged in deadly house-clearing operations in enemy-held Fallujah. Though he was not himself required to personally enter buildings, Sergeant Peralta was the kind of leader who would not ask his men to do what he would not do himself. After clearing three houses without incident, while leading his squad into a fourth Sergeant Peralta was hit several times by AK-47 fire, fell severely wounded to the floor and then crawled aside so his men could sweep over his bleeding body to attack the enemy. The cornered insurgents threw a grenade at the Marines entering the confined room while the Americans tried desperately but with little success to get back out before it exploded. Lying in great pain on the floor and nearly unconscious, Sergeant Peralta somehow managed to reach the deadly orb and pull it beneath his chest, smothering the explosion with his body and saving the lives of his comrades at the cost of his own...GOD BLESS THIS MARINE!
Real Americans know who the real heros are. I
Permalink Reply by Betz Hermes on February 8, 2012 at 1:48pm We need to unite for the 2012 goal of defeating obozo. That will show the true heros - military and their families that we are willing to fight on the home front for and with them.
Permalink Reply by Johnny Smith on February 8, 2012 at 1:48pm Buck, I totally agree. It is not just the city of New York that is this way though. There are people scattered about the entire country that have no clue what our military does for them day in and day out and many who would condemn them for doing their job. Sorry state of affairs we have allowed to come about. It all goes back to our letting the politically correct wusses take the pledge and prayer away from our kids in school, not teaching the kids to be patriotic or actually teaching them the history of our military. In the end all I can do is say thank you for your service to our country.
Thanks for that,Buck,I was just about to ask if I could re-post that piece.
I just put it up on FB in a group called "Guardian Eagles",which has
over 3,000 members.I wrote at the end that I posted it with Your permission,
and that You encourage anyone who cares to re-post it wherever they feel
it will do the most good.Hope You don't mind.

I agree 100%, Buck, as I'm sure does everybody who's ever heard the sound of incoming. But it's not just NYC, it's liberals in government everywhere, the ideological descendants of the '60s leftists who ensured that 58,212 G.I.s died in vain in the 'Nam. I've despised these people for over 40 years, and I see no good reasons to stop now.

Permalink Reply by Felix McDaniel on February 8, 2012 at 7:59pm Bob, I cannot agree more strongly with all of y'all good folks. I too am a Vietnam vet (RVN - Phu Cat AB - 68/69) and cannot stomach these morons including Nanny Bloomberg, Socialist-in-chief Osama ben Barack, and others of their ilk. My heroes include Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, and Airmen, Coast Guard folks, police officers, firefighters, et al. I am a football fan of the first order, but they are decidedly NOT my heroes. That word has been absconded with by idiots who have no idea what it takes to be heroic.
