On Friday, President Barack Obama visited Floridaon a campaign stop and spoke to a crowd of Latinos about his end-run around the U.S. legislature when he announced his new non-deportation policy. But not everyone in the Sunshine State was enamored with Obama, least of all Rep. Allen West, according to political strategist and attorney Michael S. Baker.
Many Floridians and politicians, such as Rep. West, believe that Obama's actionis unconstitutional and are pondering what action will be taken by U.S. lawmakers, public-interest groups and political organizations to stop the Obama administration's latest Chavez-esque power grab, Baker noted.
On Friday, Rep. Allen West (R-FL) said he is challenging Barack Obama on "his shocking usurpation of Congressional lawmaking powersunder the Constitution, as Obama effectively declares Amnesty for nearly a million illegal immigrants in the U.S. [thereby] defying Congress' refusal to pass any such exemption to existing immigration law."
Rep. West argues that the constitutional position, that any significant changes of policy or enforcement are to be matters of legislation, reside as the sole responsibility of the Congress. And he does so correctly, according to many legal scholars who believe in the separation of powers.
At the very least, such a profound shift in the obvious intent and effect of standing law as originally passed by Congress would require the subsequent approval of Congress, said Congressman West, a decorated Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army.
"We have representative government," West said in a statement, "and I think right now this shows that we're getting away from government that's based upon the consent of the American people, and we're starting to live under a rule by edict or Executive Order."
"The devil is in the details of [Obama's edict]," said the former combat officer.
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano claims the administration's new program for young illegal immigrants, taken from the oft-failed DREAM Actlegislation that has not been successful in passing several sessions of Congress, is "not Amnesty," despite the fact that it will remove them from the deportation process, allow them work and education privileges, and unrestricted opportunities for reapplication for deferred status.
"In my book, that's amnesty. In most sane people's books, that's amnesty. This whole controversy shows exactly how the left controls the language and the definition of words. George Orwell and Joseph Goebbels and Saul Alinskywould be proud of the Democrats," said former police captain and security director Jeff Fitzgerald.
"At a time when American citizens are struggling to find work, the president has added an additional one million or more immigrants to compete for jobs that should go to the children of citizens. Plus illegal aliensget to pay in-state college tuitions which are much less expensive, while American children must pay out-of-state fees that are double or triple the tuition rates. Obama calls that fair?" asks Fitzgerald.
Meanwhile, Rep. West and fellow African American Republican Congressman Tim Scott (R-SC) are working to even the playing field for black conservatives who are treated viciously by the Democrats and their media sycophants.
For example, Tennessee congressional candidate, Brenda Lenard, who calls herself a Frederick Douglass Republican, often surprises audiences when she tells them that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.was a registered Republican not a Democrat, since the Democrats and Ku Klux Klan were closely aligned in the South during Dr. King's civil rights movement.

It amazes me that here within the walls of our Congress there is such a man of vision, wisdom, and foresight who has proven himself and his leadership abilities on the battlefields of war as well as politics. I hope people pay attention when this man speaks.

The only problem I have with Congressman West is that he should have run for President and given us a REAL choice; not the sad but true better of two lousy alternatives. For me, had he and Sarah Palin run as a ticket either way, I would definitely have voted for THAT ticket with high hopes and a clear conscience as we would most likely have been returned to a constitutionally compliant and rule of law oriented administration; the way it was MEANT TO BE, by the Founding Fathers.We would have a fair solution to immigration by enforcing existing law and taking the measures proscribed under it, rather than makiing excuses or exceptions. We would have secured borders, people who take and then HONOR the Oath of Office, not the criminals we now have who swear to defend and uphold the Constitution but who, in reality, try to disdain and render it irrelevant as they do American citizens both Native Born and LEGALLY NATURALIZED, whose first act on our soil was to COMPLY WITH OUR LAW AND BE PENALIZED FOR IT, by those whose first act on our soil was to violate OUR Law and be rewarded for it by ambitious and parasitical politicians in hopes of politicallly expedient SELF PRESERVATION., at the expense of us all. It is time for a change; a SEA CHANGE, of massive removal and then reform of government in Constitutional compliance WITH the rule of Law and the Constitution the present parasites ignore. Let us strive to first decimate them, then render them powerless and held both responsible and accountable for their scurrillous behavior to the fullest extent of the constitution and rule of law they so disdain. What could possibly be more fitting and deserved than that? God Bless West and all the rest who see and call this administration as it is, a ship of fools and worse.
I agree with you Brian, Allen West and Sarah Palin, in either position I would have voted for in a heartbeat. And I did not vote for Romney in TEXAS, even though my pick had suspended their campaigns....I voted for my pick anyway.
If it is of consolation to you Clois, I am a very odd critter; a Massachusetts native who has never been and never hopes to be a liberal. I recently lost a friend I made over the internet who supported me from Iraq while I took cancer treatments who had planned to meet me on his discharge. I had thought him by his avatar to be orignially, a Marine Gunnery Sergeant in Taji, Iraq, He was a full bird Colonel! He used the avatar from his Vietnam tours and I was in the Army there at the same time and we became good natured agitators of each other . Unfortunately, my friend who was a native of Magnolia Texas, arrived home on January 6th of this year and died in his sleep two days later of congestive heart failure. We were VASTLY different in may ways but so very much alike in others it was amazing. I truly regret I never got the chance to meet him and we would have looked like Mutt and Jeff together as I was a whole foot shorter at 5'5" than his 6" 5" frame but, we had a once in a lifetime kind of freindship if the corrspondence was any indication. I will miss him but, I know that were he alive today, he would have been as we are and voted EXACTLY that way. It is truly a sad thing that we are, at least for the time being, relegated to the sad choices we have.God bless Colonel Willard Boone, better known to his friends as "Gunny." Clois, I would consider it easily if I did not hate Facebook! There is nothing secure about it and I do not ever use it though I have an account. I hope with all my heart that there are ENOUGH of us to rid ourselves at the polls of the disease in the White House and the spreading contagion of it's influence throughout America.There are those who think my views disrespectful to the president. Respect is earned. I earned mine, most of us do; he is reaping what he has sown by HIS disrespect of our country and our people and his penchant for illegals , and others, inimical to every American Belief, core value traditions. religious freedom ; particularly for Christianty. His support of Islam and the infiltration of Radical Islam at high levels of our government and the legislation being passed to promote Sharia ought to be considered treasonous. Today, though you have a right to those views, there may be consequences unthinkable just a few years ago if you publicly state them. I will NOT be held hostage in my OWN COUNTRY, especially not after having been disabled permanently at a 100% rating from Agent Orange Exposure 44 years ago. Enemy action I could survive, only to garner SERIOUS health problems from exposure to our own govenment and it's ridiculous ROE's and other aspects of operation is another story. With what has already been done to us by EXECUTIVE ORDER in the first term, God help us all if Obama gets a second, because HE will be the only one who can!
Brian, I don't have a facebook page anymore. I disbanded mine about a year ago for the same security reasons. So you are in good company. Agent Orange, sounds like Vietnam when I was over there in 1973. That was some very bad stuff and time for all of our soldiers in harm's way.
Most perspicacious of you. I was there with the 199th Light Infantry Brigade from May of 68 to May of 69 and apparently was exposed to Agent Orange in Cu Chi and Pleiku. I never had any symptoms and then abot 30 years after my exposure started having very serious health problems of a mysterious nature as I had no family medical history of the maladies I was accruing. After about 13 months of evaluations at three different VA hospitals, I was awarded a 100 % disability on June 28th of last year; Vietnam , the gift that keeps on giving. Well, I have SINCE suffered a class theee cardaic arrest and now have an installed pacemaker but , I try not to let it limit me, Prior to the pacemaker, I used to walk well over 100 miles a week to control my diabetes, I took a 3 week trip up and down the East Coast in February and while in Ponce Inlet, Florida, could not get the resevations for deep sea fishing I wanted but, next door was a parasailing operation and on the spur of the moment; I ascended 2000 feet, pacemaker and all and had the ride of a lifetime and have already decided that if travel of that type remains a possibility after the election, I WILL DO IT AGAIN, at age 68. I generally am percieved as being about 15 years younger than I am but I think it is the legacy from the walking and the lifestyle changes I was required to make when originally diagnosed with the diabetes. Were you an Army nurse, by any chance, and if so, did you know anyone in the WRAIN program from Walter Reed? I was stationed there after returning from Vietnam in '69 and knew a few of the students who subsequently were sent to Vietnam. One I am still trytng to contact as I recently found an unopened letter from her to me I apparently stuck in a photo album without opening it at the time dated June of 1971 where she had just graduated WRAIN and was on Orders for training at Ft. Sam Houston and Ft. Sill prior to shipment to the RVN. How many of us THEN, could have even thought what we are seeing going on in our country TODAY would be possible let alone a terrible reality?
