(NaturalNews) In mass shootings involving guns and mind-altering medications, politicians immediately seek to blame guns but never the medication. Nearly every mass shooting that has taken place in America over the last two decades has a link to psychiatric medication, and it appears today's tragic event is headed in the same direction.

According to ABC News, Adam Lanza, the alleged shooter, has been labeled as having "mental illness" and a "personality disorder." These are precisely the words typically heard in a person who is being "treated" with mind-altering psychiatric drugs.

One of the most common side effects of psychiatric drugs is violent outbursts and thoughts of suicide.

Note: The shooter was originally mid-identified as Ryan Lanza but has now been corrected to Adam Lanza.

The Columbine High School shooters were, of course, on psychiatric drugs at the time they shot their classmates in 1999. Suicidal tendencies and violent, destructive thoughts are some of the admitted behavioral side effects of mind-altering prescription medications.

No gun can, by itself, shoot anyone. It must be triggered by a person who makes a decision to use it. And while people like NY Mayor Bloomberg are predictably trying to exploit the deaths of these children to call for guns to be stripped from all law abiding citizens who have done nothing wrong whatsoever, nobody calls for medication control.

Why is that? After all, medication alters the mind that controls the finger that pulls the trigger. The saying that "guns kill people" is physically impossible. People kill other people, and as we all learned from watching the O.J. Simpson trial, you don't need a gun to commit murder.

We should be outlawing psychiatric medications, not an inanimate piece of metal

If there is to be any legitimate debate on so-called "gun control" in the aftermath of this shooting, the only idea that makes any sense at all would be to restrict gun purchases by people currently taking psychiatric medications. But even that restriction would of course be abused by the government to take guns away from perfectly healthy, law-abiding citizens who innocently seek treatment for mild depression and who honestly have no clue that psychiatric drugs can cause violent behavior.

A far better solution here would be to outlaw psychiatric drugs that cause the violent behavior in the first place. After all, if you only outlaw guns but fail to eliminate the drugs that cause the violence, people dosed up on mind-altering meds will simply find alternate weapons to commit the same acts of violence. You don't think a crazy guy with a sword can hack up 20 or 30 kids in a school? A sword, a knife or even a pick axe can be just as deadly as a firearm.

A guy with a chain saw can do all kinds of damage if he's out of his mind. Should we ban chain saws?

I have thought for quite some time that people on medication are dangerous operating automobiles on public roads. If driving drunk is illegal, why isn't "driving on meds" illegal? Why are wildly medicated people allowed to operate heavy machinery?

A high-ranking police officer in Tucson, Arizona once told me, on the record, that one-third of all automobile accidents in the city of Tucson were related to medicated drivers. That's an astonishing number, and if true, it would seem to indicate that medications are more dangerous than guns when it comes to the total daily body count.

Do the math: medications are far more deadly than guns

Medications kill roughly 100,000 Americans each year according to study statistics. The actual number is either 98,000 or 106,000 depending on which study you believe.

For guns to be as deadly as medications, you'd have to see a Newton-style massacre happening ten times a day, every day of the year. Only then would "gun violence" even match up to the number of deaths caused by doctor-prescribed, FDA-approved medications.

Why does America grieve for the children killed in Newton, but not for the medical victims killed by Big Pharma? Are the lives of people on medication not valuable compared to the lives of children in elementary school? Will Obama shed a tear for the victims of Big Pharma, or are his tears reserved only for politically expedient events that push his agenda of unconstitutional gun restrictions?

If our goal us to stop the violence in America, we are completely dishonest if we do not consider the mental causes of violent behavior. And that starts with mind-altering psychiatric drugs which I believe have unleashed a drug-induced epidemic of violence across our nation.

Obama, Bloomberg and others will point to guns and try to convince you that inanimate metal objects are the cause of this violence. But they lie by omission. No guns shoots itself. The trigger must be pulled by someone, and the mental state of that person is the primary cause of the resulting action. To ignore this fundamental chain of facts is brutally dishonest.

  • He most likly got the way he was from bad child hood shots that the gov require the kids to take while they are young and the chemicals in the shot will damage the young with all sorts of problems...

  • Guns don't kill people, people kill people. They are  using these incidents to take away your guns so that we can move to the next step ,A Police State so they can push the New World Order .As long as we have the right to bear arms it will be very hard to bring us into submission to promote their agenda. YOUR VIDEO AND YOUR COMMENTS ARE RIGHT ON TARGET. I totally agree with you . J.Rivera

  • Shrink on tv tonight claims ALL "moody gloomy teenagers" need to be "aggressively treated" for mental illness.  At what point?  ALL teenagers are gloomy and moody.  That's NORMAL!  Are we really ready to lock people up for what they MIGHT do?

  • I fully understand the points you are trying to make, and I agree with most of them. You are absolutely correct that tragic incidents such as what happened at the school in CT is seen as a golden opportunity to go after guns and the 2nd Amendment. It happens every time without fail and it is getting old. Guns do NOT kill people has been our battle cry for years because it is TRUE! More deaths are caused every year in the US by baseball bats than by guns, but America loves baseball so no one yells to take bats off of the shelves or to restrict their purchase. Hippocrates.
I did, however, take issue with a couple of your points. ABC News actually reported Adam's so-called mental illness as Autism. Autism is not a mental health disease. Autism is a physical condition linked to abnormal biology and chemistry in the brain. Still, it would be very helpful to know what medications he was on, if any, in order to determine whether they had an impact on his actions. I say "if any" because my son is Autistic and does not take any of Big Pharma's medications. My wife and I have been able to love and teach him how to cope with the world.
Way too many children are being diagnosed with ADD and ADHD and a pluthera of other diagnoses; it is sickening and therein lies the true problem: Over Diagnosis! Doctors over diagnosing in order to appease an over concerned mother who needs more time to relax should NOT be a medical option. That said, their are persons who NEED Psychiatric Medications in order to cope with society. Outlawing those Psychiatric Medications is not the answer; who can foresee the result of these people without the medications they need to be productive members of society? For some the alternative would be an institution and that is not acceptable. For that reason I have to disagree with your belief that it would be better to outlaw these drugs than to risk to giving a gun to someone who is taking them. If a productive member of society needs a medication that could cause violent outbursts and suicide then that person should not have access to a gun while taking the medication. Yes, I realize it gives the anti-gun lobby an opening, but isn't it a compromise that any competent American can recognize as necessary?
I agree with you that if a gun isn't available any weapon will do. I think the body count would have been lower with a knife, but the horror would have still been there. Because the Teachers were all defenseless, the only advantage to the attacker having a bladed weapon would be if a teacher was a martial arts expert. I am an advocate of following the Israeli model: training and arming Teachers and Administrators. Police took 10 minutes to respond (that is NOT their fault, just the way it is); had the teachers been armed, would the outcome have been different?
I quickly want to address your statements regarding taking prescription drugs and driving or operating heavy machinery. Seriously? The side of the bottle tells you when not to drive. I recently had Back Fusion surgery caused by a combat related incident (I am a career Soldier of 23 years) and one of my meds, oxycodone, has such a restriction. My doctor and two RN's also told me if I decided to drive while taking it and was pulled over I would get a DUI/DWI just as if I had been drinking. I don't know how many drugs that applies to, but it isn't an issue for me since I can barely walk much less drive at this point.
Finally, let me say that your theory, while well thought out and presented, in my opinion takes the wrong approach in attempting to protect gun rights. Psychiatric Medications can not be outlawed without causing a major impact on society. The APA has addressed the issue of over diagnosis but it has not gone very far. The majority of vehicle fatality numbers related to Psychiatric Medications are likely in the DUI/DWI category and therefore fall into an area of personal responsibility; something we have lost in this land of Entitlement.
  • There are no kids shooting's in Isreal as the TEACHERS have Weapons and i would bet they have no kids smarting off to the TEACHERS either

  • We need teachers trained in the use of a gun in every class room. We needs guns in every home in the USA. And the gun owners need proper training in the use of the gun.

    • Lets do like they do in Israel. Boot camp right out of high school and the mentals will stand out like a bad thumb... then everyone will know how to use the arms to protect themselfs and the people around them. Muslims hate that.

  • Here is another article from Natural News on initial reports of a second gunman, but now are scrubbed. I was listening to the radio that day, and I heard that there was talk of a 2nd gunman that was still on the loose and so several other schools in the area were on lockdown: (if the link does not come through this is published on commieblaster.com)

  • I'm sorry for the families, but I'm more sorry that this whole thing was set up by the anti-gun crowd

What is the point? We live in a LAWLESS society where our leaders break our laws constantly. If they can do it why can't everyone else? We are too soft on criminals and unwilling to take action against those in our society who are a threat to themselves and others. We will see more schools attacked because it is safe for the criminals to go there. There is no one there that can fight back!!

If guns were made illegal, someone that wants to kill will get them anyway. People have to protect themselves, not be sitting ducks.
What is this country coming to with so much hate, fear and racism in the last 4 years. And will get worse in the next 4 years. Planned?????I'm not going to give away any of MY freedoms to some intellectual cripple that call themselves "mental health experts". These East Coast Ivy League universities are where young men and women are trained and accepted for their "strange" behaviors and THEY are the last people I want in charge of teaching our children. Rather give me a Christianity based teacher every time. If the teacher had a gun, this pyscho/wacko could been stopped in his tracks. Guns by themselves do not kill, just like knives and baseball bats to name a few. People kill!

Leave the second ammendment alone. It's not the gun that kills, it's the HUMAN that uses the gun to kill. Don't do harm to all the law abiding people who have guns, and enjoy them. If more people were trained, and carry guns, then the would be killers would have a second thought before pursuing their killing agenda. Don't let Obama/Dems use these tragedies to tout gun enforcement, as the way to go
This guy in Connecticut was a gamer. We need to end the violent video games that have hardened, particularily young men, society to shooting and killing is acceptable. We need to recognize and treat mental health problems., The mental health system no longer exists. We have seen 3 young men in their 20's commit murder in the past few months. One even contacted his psycharist prior to the shootings.
    Our illustrious leadership ????
Would be moving to enact more gun controls.

Obviously the idiot in chief was already trying to build
that case ten minutes after the attacks were announced.

Violent video games. Any question about that just watch one of these games
    being played, game that totally
    screws with your mind.

    that is taking a
responsible approach to ending this senseless carnage.
I believe this could be Gov. sponsored to step up gun control. Look at Fast and Furious. We the people, Must keep our freedom, but we must also be aware of the kooks and paid wackos that undermine our way of life. Mental misfits, gov. paid gunmen, Muslim wackos.

About the liberal progressive democrat lemmings response to this massacre: They want an inanimate object (the weapon) held responsible rather than make a judgement about the shooter being good, bad, or evil.

This young guy was the essence of "E V I L" ! ! ! He was B A D ! ! ! He should have been in isolation BUT THAT would have required someone to make a negative judgement about his character. Liberal progressive democrat philosophy requires that everyone and anyone can be and do whatever they want and now it includes legally inhaling cannabis. We are NOT to be judgmental about ANYTHING until it's too late. This time NOBODY judged this EVIL DOER before he slaughtered those little defenseless kindergarten kids. As far as the liberal progressive democrat lemmings are concerned, up until the point he aimed the gun, pulled the trigger, and murdered the first little defenseless child, he was just a little strange, that's all.
Our technological marvels can't yet tell us what EVIL lurks in people's minds. We had best get the Christian principles back online because it looks like liberal progressive democrat operatives are already taking the wrong path. They're calling for gun controls rather than (handing out guns) to ALL workers at our schools. They're response to this massacre of our littlest of children is to (disarm all of us) rather than to arm those in the best position to stop the next slaughter of innocents.
PUT GOD BACK IN THE SCHOOLS.

    TEACH THE TEN COMMANDMENTS.
STOP BULLYING CHRISTIANS AND THE BABY IN A MANGER.

GIVE OUR STUDENTS A CHANCE TO BE GOOD.

TEACH THEM LOVE AND COMPASSION INSTEAD OF
    HOW TO PLAY ELECTRONIC GAMES.
STOP TEACHING ISLAM , SHARIA , HOMOS ; STOP PROTECTING PERVERTS ......CHILD MOLESTERS... UNIONS ...

might offend an atheist, agnostic or muslim.....Christianity is taught by parents and extended in parochial schools; until each parent has the CHOICE AS TO WHERE TO EDUCATE HIS CHILD public schools will continue to be the cess pool of misinformation.WE MUST start the demand that this country return to the "old fashioned" ways that gave us intact famalies, religion as a guide to behavior, and a government that supports the constitution

Save money, time and hassle put Christ back in and put the devil out. The fringe benefits are beyond belief: Less STD's, less killings, more stable marriages, less bankruptcies, more integrity in the work place, eternal life in the coming age, peace of mind, love and honor among all at home, strong economy, safe streets, etc. Any true Christian wouldn't want to participate in immoral behavior that's why I say less and not a complete end till everyone accepts Christ.

  • There is absolutely NO reason to curtail America's 2nd. Amendment.  This Amendment is sacred and will not be destroyed by the liberal, special interest pandering, Constitutional hating Democratic Party.
