With all that is going on with the IRS I wanted to post this reminder of how scary the IRS is. Note the date of this article. It's not new but very relevant.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will arm its agents with Remington 870 pump-action shotguns, according to a solicitation request by the agency.

The federal tax collector posted an acquisition notice earlier this month on FedBizOpps.gov. The IRS will close its acquisition request on Wednesday.

The IRS will purchase 60 Remington Model 870 Police, 12-gauge pump-action shotguns for its Criminal Investigation Division. The Remington parkerized shotguns will include a 14-inch barrel, modified choke, Wilson Combat ghost-ring rear sight and XS4 contour-bead front sight, Knoxx reduced-recoil adjustable stock, and Speedfeed ribbed black forend, according to the notice.

The shotguns are designated as the only shotguns authorized for IRS duty, based on compatibility with existing IRS shotguns, certification by an armorer, combat training and protocol, maintenance and parts.

Quotes are submitted including an 11 percent Firearms and Ammunition Excise Tax (FAET) and shipping costs to D.C.

  • Keep an eye on the agents, they will probably leave them lying around for the taking.  Everyone working for the IRS is incompetent.

  • I am old enough to remember those colorful Senate Hearings against the IRS. Where the IRS employees testifying to basically the same type of tactics against individual’s not political adversaries, and how the IRS treated everyday taxpayers with contempt and rebuke. After the hearing, it was reported to the Senate that the IRS hunted down those employees and threatened them even after the Senate laid down the rules against retribution.  The IRS reviewed every person that was out on each day of testimony until they found the one who testified against them…..If I remember correctly, the Senate issued a rebuke to the IRS, but, nobody was fired !!!  The stories told by individuals from all over America were horrendous!

With no accountability, the IRS offenses have simply gotten more severe….obviously.  And now, they are to be the enforcers for Obama Care…how appropriate….with guns no less.

    • Shotguns have a short range.

  • How are they gonna get these into the courthouses where the collection cases take place?  Since when have IRS agents become superheroes?

  • Thanks.

  • What are they going to do, come to your house and bust down your doors, without a warrant, then blow our asses away and say we were criminals????????

  • At least they're not Ithaca's.  I find it rather amusing they're dolling their shotguns all up, a standard 20 in barrel, cylinder bore with slug or buck works fine.  If you find yourself with only bird shot in the magazine, take a knife and make a cut around the shell at the point where the damper is, between the powder and the shot, with the beginning and the end crossing over, but not connecting.  When this is done, the front end of the shell fires out as if a slug. Just for general information purposes.

  • If you don't own a gun, please go take a gun safety course and buy a gun, any type of gun you can afford and practice with it till you feel comfortable with it.All the Fed agencies are arming themselfs to the teeth.

  • Thanks for this info!!  I will pass this on too!  I garantee you.....my God is bigger and badder than the IRS aka Inter-Anal Service!!! (and I don't mean anal retentive definition)

Jerel Bartlett, you are right.  Pretty scary to know Inter-Annal Service is to be enforcing obamaTax AND that they will be armed!
