This is LaRaza's call to action:
CALL TO ACTION !
NATIONAL ACTION FOR A MORATORIUM
ON DECEMBER 20TH !
We must respond immediately to the failure of the Senate and the Congress to act. We must let the President know that we will not accept the continuation of injustice under what all agree is a broken law. Familia Latina Unida calls for coordinated actions of civil disobedience at Homeland Security offices across the nation beginning on December 20. We want a Christmas without fear, a Christmas in which children celebrating the Holy Family are not in fear that armed men will come to their homes to take away their own family.
The failure of President Obama and the Democratically controlled House and Senate to pass legislation to fix our broken immigration system has left us all with one objective: a moratorium on deportations and separation of families until legislation still pending in the house and senate is finally acted on. We salute Congressman Gutierrez for his leadership in passing the Dream Act through the House, but we recognize that for nearly ten years the Democratic Leadership has been playing with us saying they were committed to comprehensive immigration reform, which included the dream act, but doing absolutely noting to move it forward. On the eve of a desperate election, they agreed to put forward the dream act alone. We do not believe they did this in good faith. History will show that Congressman Gutierrez finally forced their hand in the House of Representatives.
Every day, 1100 people are deported. Every day, six million children and young people, 80% of whom are U.S. citizens, 20% of whom are dream act eligible, live in fear of having their families and their lives destroyed. Instead of working to provide these young people with education and health care and decent housing and a way to live productive lives, our government gets up every morning with new plans to destroy their families.
All of this is happening in spite of the fact that we elected a President who committed in no uncertain terms to stop the separation of families. The recent elections have solidified the deadlock in Congress on a way to fix our broken immigration laws. Yet the President still has the power to stop the deportations until the Congress finally addresses this national tragedy.
In response to the demands of the families and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, the Department of Homeland Security has given President Obama a seven point memorandum outlining his powers to stop the deportations until the Congress can act. The President must be compelled to keep his promise.
Congressman Gutierrez has called for a nationwide movement for the moratorium. He has said that now The Movement is the Moratorium, the Moratorium is the Movement. He explains that we must act to get the President to act and we must also struggle in every city and town to stop cooperation between ICE and local law enforcement through the 287g and Secure Communities Act programs. We must fight for every family that is struggling to keep their lives and their families together.
Congressman Gutierrez has said that we can no longer allow our movement to be determined by the legislative priorities of politicians and parties more concerned with their reelection than with the lives of our families. The Congressman has said that U.S. citizens must be prepared to step out of their comfort zone and be willing to fill the jails until the President keeps his promise and stops the deportations.
`The Movement for the Moratorium has begun! Every Monday in Chicago pastors, elected officials, family members of those facing deportations and youth leaders have blocked the doors of the Homeland Security Headquarters in Chicago and organized mass arrests. Let the nation hear us on December 20th. We will not be silent.

Permalink Reply by Sandra Lee Smith on December 16, 2010 at 9:16am Most of it, if not all of it.I know they also want CO, WY, UT, NV, ID, and MT.
I love their protests, because it simply makes our case better. It makes the problem more visible. After all, it wasn't sympathizers of this bunch that won overwhelmingly on November 2nd. So they should continue to dance in the streets and wave their privates in the faces of all decent people. All the better to remind us that we need to do something about it.
Permalink Reply by Sandra Lee Smith on December 16, 2010 at 1:48am The House already passed their version; it's the Senate that needs assaulted now.
One word is correct NATIVE AMERICAN you IDIOTS. YOU are descendants of either NATIVE American or Spain or Portugal. That is the spanish decent.
This Patriot Pastor is a Native American, unlike the Resident!
A border patrol agent was shot to death last night and this is what they have planned? Why don't they put pressure on their own wretched governments to change. if they put as much time and pressure on mexico and other south and central American coutnries to reform, they would have had change by now and could leave us alone.

Border Patrol Agent Killed in Southern Arizona
NOGALES, Ariz. – A U.S. Border Patrol agent was shot and killed north of the Arizona-Mexico border while trying to catch bandits who target illegal immigrants, the leader of a union representing agents said Wednesday.
Agent Brian A. Terry, 40, was waiting with three other agents in a remote area north of Nogales late Tuesday night when a gun battle with the bandits began, said National Border Patrol Council President T.J. Bonner. No other agents were injured, but one of the suspects was wounded in the shootout.
The FBI is investigating the shooting. Border Patrol spokesman Eric Cantu and FBI spokeswoman Brenda Lee Nath declined to confirm Bonner's account, but said that authorities have four suspects in custody and are searching for a fifth.
Terry had served in the military and was a Border Patrol agent for about three years. He died early Wednesday.
Bandits have long roamed border areas, robbing and sexually assaulting illegal immigrants as they cross into the country.
Bonner, whose group represents 17,000 agents, said the fatal shooting shows that the border is still dangerous.
"This is a sign that the politicians and bureaucrats are overly optimistic in their assessment that the borders are more secure now than at any point in our history. It showed just the opposite," Bonner said.
Permalink Reply by Dale L. Neill on December 15, 2010 at 2:37pm I have something to add to this and by the way intruder Mexican all land was paid for and not STOLEN from you your corrupt government kept that money like they are now doing from all of those manufacturing jobs that went into Mexico.
Your land is our land, Gringo
The circus
The uneducated low life and drug runners breach our border at will
Murderers and other vicious criminals always seem to return
Because of those evil elected specimens on capital hill
The votes, the votes those evil specimens yearn
Those on the “take” politicians in the states as well as those in DC
Are bought and paid for by those satanic forces that are near
Working the halls of congress for bills that shouldn’t be
Politicians with fist full of dollars they hold dear
Even in the white house corruption is first rate and rides supreme
Everything, yes even ground zero like our freedom is for sale
You owe us America we the people of the refried bean
Anchor babies give our ships clearance to sail
Muslims and Mexicans with this government are having their way
Those sworn enemies are guiding America straight into hell
The parading of criminals in DC are having a field day
While those morons that elected them say O well
The mosque at ground zero is to the Muslims a grand victory call
That thing in DC agrees it is where that mosque should be
Freedoms of yours is ours so at ground zero you all
We do not care about your dead don’t you see

The photos tell all! Who are they to say they are indigenous? They weren't here 200 yrs ago, neither was I. What liars and false prophets are the leaders of La Raza, the Congress, the politicians. Legal is legal. Illegal is illegal. The sweet illegal mother who raised her children to work for drug cartel in CA and behead people didn't come here for a better life-she raised killers. She didn't do menial chores for pennies-she raised a killer. Is this a proud day for latinos? These gangs and La Raza, including Gutierrez and Geraldo, don't appreciate America OR they would assimilate and add goodness to this great country, not murder and complain constantly about rich people. They would work to become rich people and hire legsl aliens!
Gutierrez, Geraldo, La Raza, M13 gangs, the illegals-none are grieving for the Border Patrol agent killed or the AZ rancher or any police or sheriff deputies killed-none are voicing sympathy for the children and families. They are empty excuses for humans full of greed and putrid jealousy.
This effort is focused on sacrifice to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic.
