MARINES IN AFGHANISTAN TOLD TO DISARM OUT OF RESPECT FOR AFGHAN TROOPS
DID I READ THAT RIGHT? Our troops, our Marines, are told to disarm, leave their weapons outside of a meeting, on a US base, by our own military, OUT OF RESPECT FOR AFGHANISTAN TROOPS that are not allowed to take their guns into meetings.
WHAT THE HELL KIND OF INSANITY IS THAT??????? Sounds more like our Marines are being set up for another Fort Hood like massacre!
IMO, in a war zone, ordering your troops to disarm, FOR ANY REASON, is to surrender to the enemy! That is one order that I would NEVER obey, no doubts about it. I think every Marine there should have unanimously shouted out 'NO SIR, I WILL NOT SURRENDER MY WEAPON'!

Might be a ' gray area ' as regards the UCMJ, in disobeying an order from a superior officer that is unconscienable, illegal, or immoral. Let's add just plain stoooopid to the list. To the troop on the ground or in the air, it's war. I've been in combat, RVN was one of the worst places to be without the means to defend your life, but guess what ?! Unless you were smart enough to ' requisition ' a weapon, or go to a black market source & buy your own piece, you were defenseless. Ours were locked up (!) at the squadron operations building under the pretense that our base was ' secure '. That theory blew up-literally- during the Tet offensive, '69, when a VC machine gun & mortar position was directly opposite the main gate & rockets were coming across the ends of the runways, regular & common VC were attacking. Then there were the sappers coming in from the river end of the base's perimeter. We lost 5 acft, liquid oxygen plant, 25,000 gal jet fuel bladder, the hose tower at the fire house, the jet engine shop, several Army troops in their tents from rocket blast concussion, vehicles, & various support facilities. This was all directed by the highly trained NVC Regular Army, holed up in a rubber plantation a few kilo's from the base, owned by a So. Viet. army Colonel. We couldn't touch them because, the Col. ' would lose his rubber contract for the year ' ! " Secure " my ass, what BS. It's a COMBAT ZONE fer Gawd's sake, get a clue ! Here's a remedy; oblabber & karazzee battle it out in single combat while ALL the rest of us sit on the sidelines, drink beer together & eat popcorn- why not ? What's happening there now is just as nutz & you'd be kiddin' yourselves if you didn't think that the troops involved in this merry-go-round aren't feeling the same uncertainties. Way-Poor leadership by the ' CIC ', & no loyalty shown by ' him ', is a recipe for disaster.

What is needed is for the Marines to march on Washington to preseve all they have valiantly fought to defend and uphold in honoring their sworn oaths; something apparently NO ONE does in D.C. anymore. Where is this all supposed to end? Do you think ANY AMERICAN SOLDIER in any other conflict in our history have obeyed such an order? iF SO, YOU ARE DELUDED,DEMENTED OR BOTH. What does that say to you about the quality of our non-existent leadership: both military and political? Some orders are either legally or morally unjust and should NOT be followed; THIS is definitively, one of those.

Pardon me for not being surprised by this ..... "politcally motivated incident" by no other than SOD directions !!! It should not be a surprise to anyone other than the parents and family of the soldiers who were ORDERED to DISARM in a WAR ZONE ??????? Can any idiot in that 5 sides down there tell me what in the HELL we are doing trying to instill civil societal values into a UNWILLING PUBLIC SOCIETY !!!!!! And then on top of it ORDER those who are ALREADY SACRIFICING THEIR LIVES by being there !!!!! To DISARM !!!!! Sorry SIR !!!!! NO SIR !!!!!!! I will not DISARM SIR ~!!!!!!!! You have now made the URL "live"...........it shows some code before the post is published, it goes away when you "publish post".......
