Obama Accepts McChrystal's Resignation

WASHINGTON, June 23, 2010 – President Barack Obama today accepted Army Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal's resignation from his post as the top NATO and U.S. commander in Afghanistan and announced he is nominating Army Gen. David H. Petraeus, commander of U.S. Central Command, to replace him.

McChrystal had been ordered to Washington to meet first with Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates and then with the president to answer for remarks attributed to him and members of his staff in a Rolling Stone magazine article.

In a statement released after the announcement, McChrystal expressed support for the president's Afghanistan policy:

"This morning the President accepted my resignation as Commander of U.S. and NATO Coalition Forces in Afghanistan. I strongly support the President’s strategy in Afghanistan and am deeply committed to our coalition forces, our partner nations, and the Afghan people. It was out of respect for this commitment -- and a desire to see the mission succeed -- that I tendered my resignation. It has been my privilege and honor to lead our nation’s finest."

NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen issued the following statement:

"I have taken note that General McChrystal is stepping down as Commander of the NATO-led mission in Afghanistan. I thank General McChrystal for his service to NATO, and for the enormous effort he has put into leading the ISAF mission.

"While he will no longer be the commander, the approach he helped put in place is the right one. The strategy continues to have NATO's support, and our forces will continue to carry it out. Our operations in Afghanistan are continuing today, and they will not miss a beat. We have a strong military team in Afghanistan. My Senior Civilian Representative, Mark Sedwill will continue to direct our effort on the political side. And soon, a new Commander of ISAF will take up his position.

"The Afghan people should have no doubt that we will continue to carry out our mission in partnership with them. We will continue working to protect the Afghan population and to build the Afghan security forces, and we will stay for as long as it takes to do our job."

This isn't a new trick on the part of the Taliban; it's been used quite liberally in Korea, and Vietnam before and worked there too. The thing our politicians and media, and liberals seem to forget it that war is an ugly and deadly business which should be avoided when possible, but once you commit to it, you have to commit in the same way a surgeon commits when he goes in after cancer or a major infection; with a ruthlessness that will root out everything, and sometimes that means taking out "healthy tissue" {substitute civilians} too, to get at the whole infection or cancer. The surgeon knows if he leaves even a few cells of whichever he's after, they will multiply and be back. and possibly with lethal consequences next time. We can't commit to wars and NOT go in and fight them in that same manner! All that does is what happened in Vietnam and Korea both; a lot of good people died, for what? Our politicians sold their lives for essentially NOTHING! Had they kept out of Korea, it's likely not only would we not be having problems with DPNK now, we also wouldn't be having problems with China. Had they kept out of Vietnam, it was essentially won after the Tet offensive, all that would have been needed was a bit of "mop-up" to successfully conclude that war, and leave a free Vietnam. Well, the same is going to happen with Afghanistan. The Taliban know now all they have to do is bide their time; and Karzai knows it too, which is why he's already making deals with them! The Bilderbergers pulling the strings WANT our people to die as cannon fodder, to wipe our forces out,, so they won't be around to defend the US against their take-over in the US, which is nearly complete now!

I think he can see exactly where this is going and simply couldn't continue to send kids out practically disarmed to do battle. I agree that he most likely used this to try to resign with as little damage to troop morale as possible.

Sorry to hear about the "death sentence" Phoenix. I've been living on borrowed time for a long time, so i do understand your feelings of nothing to lose here, or to gain. I don't want to die knowing that either, but it's beginning to look as if we may not get our wishes in that matter. Have you contacted your state government to urge nullification? If not, do so. What can they do? Kill us? That was their plan anyway. We're "unstustainable" whether we're actually dying at this moment or not. If they get the program through, my life expectancy is less than 2 years at the max, probably less than 6 months from it's passage.. I know that. I don't even want to live forever; but I don't want someone else deciding when it's my time to die; that's up to me and my body!
As to Muslims with control of nukes in our military, that I don't know. I would hope not, in view of the current situation; but I just don't know the answer to that.

He does have his own little army already; Obamacare authorized it; and they've been in training for months. There are also the 80,000 on standing orders at Ft Stewart to move in for any "civil unrest" so yeah, that feeling is real strong. Why no one stood up with McChrystal, I can't say; PTA maybe...not wanting to show their " true colors" until they engage the enemy maybe{ an old Naval warfare ruse to fly the enemy's colors right up to the first cannon shot and unfurl you own colors as it was being lobbed}. Maybe some think he moved prematurely. It's hard to tell; a lot on active duty can't reveal true feelings and keep careers, obviously, and maybe they're thinking they need to keep hands on the "toys" so they can use them appropriately when the time does come. Or maybe they have capitulated to the enemy already, which I personally would hate to believe, but it is a possibility too.

I hate to tell you, it started WAAAY before Kennedy was even a blip on the radar! Try right after the War of 1812, when the corporation of Washington, DC was formed under the corporation of London, and every US citizen became the collateral for the national debts, from that time forward, at birth. I don't think his secret army is XE. This is something that was tucked away in Obamacare, and the videos I saw of them looked more like the Hitler Youth in black and fatigues instead of blond and leder hosen. And it is scary as hell! Getting more so by the day. I do have to disagree with you about Kennedy being the best President we ever had though. That guy was operating on steroids all the time and so euphoric he was probably far more dangerous than you've even guessed as yet. I never wanted him even in office, but if he'd stayed in he'd be part of the problem we have now. His family are in the Bilderbergers too,and he and Bobby and John Jr. had to be elimnated because they were stepping on wrong toes within the group. This is just how ruthless that bunch is. Like the Muslims they've unleashed on us all, they even kill their own when they stray a bit from the agenda! Check out the UN's Agenda 21; it's the Bilderberger plan for all our futures... You may, in the long run, be one of the fortunate to NOT be around for this nightmare...

That's the first I'd heard that about Korea. That's insane! Every time the politicians get into a war...! I grant you war is a horrible thing and should be avoided if at all possible, but once you commit to a war, you just can't pussy foot around about it; you have to go in there and fight it like a war; you can pick up the pieces later and get the place back on it's feet if you're of a mind to help the survivors. But you just can't do that in the middle!

In a criminal court, if you're part of a conspiracy that results in the death of another, with intent for that outcome, you are equally guilty of that murder, no matter that you didn't actually cause the death physically, and may have been thousands of miles away, even in another country, at the time of the death, at least in virtually every state in this nation, and probably in most of the world, to some degree, so yes, I'd say that definitely makes them guilty as accessories before the fact. Even if the death itself wasn't the intended outcome, the guilt is still there, the charge may be murder 2 or manslaughter instead, but that doesn't get the conspirators off the hook. And if those conspirators are a government which has been charged with, and taken an oath to defend, the citizens under it, that just makes the crime all the more heinous. However, in view of things I've been coming across of late, I guess I'm less surprised it happened than that this is the first I've heard of it in connection with that particular war. I was young when Korea was fought, I remember making up "care" packages for the soldiers in a couple of my classes at school, and the reports on the news every evening, of course. Many say Vietnam was the first war to come into our living rooms, but that's not true, we had Korea in ours. I just can't understand why CO's would even issue orders like that; that was certainly an order one should have been seriously questioning the validity of...
