Do you think Michelle Obama (or Barack, for that matter) thinks it is the greatest privilege on planet Earth to be an American?

Melania Wronged

Like the millions who tuned in this week on the first night of the Republican convention in Cleveland to see Melania Trump’s speech, I was dazzled by her beauty, struck by her sincerity, impressed by her fluency in a language not of her native tongue, touched by her obvious love for her husband and family and country, and impressed by her quiet confidence and sense of self.

In a lengthy interview I had seen a few weeks earlier of Melania with Fox News’ Greta van Susteren, it was clear that the former super model—who is formally educated, multilingual, world-traveled, and the embodiment of sophistication—was unpretentious, of a serene temperament, plain-spoken, strong in her convictions and values, and also funny and nice. And also not interested in the spotlight, but more in raising her 10-year-old son Barron with good values and morals.

So it was shocking when I woke up Tuesday morning to read and hear of the gigantic brouhaha about Melania’s alleged “plagiarism.”

Right away, I smelled a rat.

For one thing, it is almost impossible to find anything the leftist media say that is even marginally credible. Most of the lackeys, who pose as journalists, sound more like they’re on the payroll of the Hillary for President campaign or the Democratic National Committee than in the service of the American public.

Remember, these are the people who spent a full year vilifying, insulting, and lying about Donald Trump, fully confident that their viewers and readers would listen to their wisdom, only to be soundly repudiated by the American voting public.

No matter what they said, the voters, figuratively at least, spit in their faces. But in the “culture” of journalism, such repudiation never breeds self-reflection; it only breeds vengeance, and the desire to find something, anything, to take down their nemesis.

Second, it was impossible for me to picture Melania consulting a search engine and looking up the speeches of former First Ladies, finding the words of Michelle Obama, and saying to herself: “Aha…I think I’ll lift a few lines here!”

However, it was eminently plausible for me to picture a professional speechwriter that Melania admitted to Matt Lauer helped her “a little bit” being lazy and unprofessional enough to do just that, to look up former speeches and stick random sentences into the quite brilliant and original piece Melania had written herself—without her knowledge that the excerpts had been lifted!

John Hinderaker of, a site founded by Dartmouth College alumni and, mysteriously to me, not a fan of Mr. Trump, weighed in with an article that damned the craven media. Entitled “Plagiarism? Please,” the writer called Melania’s speech outstanding, and said that so-called lifted sentiments “are so commonplace that they probably could be drawn from any of a hundred speeches. But, is this supposed to be some kind of scandal? One could probably think of a less important issue, but it would take a while. And I wouldn’t think that either Barack Obama or Joe Biden would want to start a conversation about plagiarism.”

Citing an article in the NY Times headlined “Melania Trump’s Speech Bears Striking Similarities to Michelle Obama’s in 2008,” Hinderaker disagrees, writing that, “Michelle Obama’s best-remembered public pronouncement is her statement that `[f]or the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country.’ Why? Because her husband was nominated for president. The heart of Melania Trump’s speech, on the other hand, was not the lines that she may have borrowed from Michelle Obama, but rather this tribute to America, delivered by an immigrant:

`After living and working in Milan and Paris, I arrived in New York City twenty years ago, and I saw both the joys and the hardships of daily life. On July 28th, 2006, I was very proud to become a citizen of the United States—the greatest privilege on planet Earth. I cannot, or will not, take the freedoms this country offers for granted.”

Hinderaker continues: “Do you think Michelle Obama (or Barack, for that matter) thinks it is the greatest privilege on planet Earth to be an American? No, I don’t either. I suspect that one of Melania Trump’s principal objectives in her speech was to draw that contrast between herself and Mr. and Mrs. Obama.”

Of course, a fulminating John Podhoretz from the NY Post and the obsessed anti-Trump writer Jonathan Tobin from put in their two-cents worth, jumping on the plagiarism charge…but to no avail.

By the time FNC’s Megyn Kelly got around to the subject at 9 p.m. on Tuesday night, it was old news, debunked by most people who recognized it as a manufactured and frivolous non-subject. Besides, two of Donald Trump’s five children were just about ready to speak on their father’s behalf.

Tiffany Trump, the 22-year-old recent Wharton Business School graduate, entranced the crowd with her beauty, articulateness, confidence and also modesty, and especially her full-hearted love and respect for her father.

And then came 38-year-old Donald J. Trump, Jr., who left every commentator on the political spectrum, as well as the entire Twitter world, either overflowing with positive “reviews” or predicting a stellar political future for the young mogul. He, too, was fulsome in his praise of and respect for his father.

The ultimate takeaway, however, was that the people who occupy the world of Donald Trump are the real thing. They are clear-eyed, confident in their views, authentically conservative, and “the real thing.”

So real, in fact, that it is unimaginable that Melanie copied anything from anyone. If any copying was done, it was by, as I said, a lazy or incompetent hire, and blame also goes to the negligent person who okayed her speech.

Or was it purposeful sabotage?! That cannot be ruled out, so egregious was this act. It remains to be seen if it was, indeed, sabotage, and if the Trump team found the culprit and promptly axed him or her.

Melania was wronged. But strong woman who she is, I have no doubt that she will go on to make dozens if not hundreds of important, inspiring, and empowering speeches as the next First Lady of the United States!

I'm not a part of the Libertarian Party, or the Republican, Democrat or Whig for that matter. Each or the parties take on personalities that fly in the face of the Founding Fathers intentions. And then, the Founding Fathers had an oxymoron with slavery as they drafted the Constitution and Bill of Rights!

Not dealing with the issue of slavery was the only flaw of the Founding Fathers, I believe they believed the people would correct that issue peaceably and there were some within the government that were seeking a good resolution, unfortunately, like today, evil men came on the scene and created havoc.

This question people should be asking is how has Madam Justice become so blind as to not apply the rule of law to a select few. When you find the answer to that question you will see into the very heart of the problem. A select few are above the law which is a known, proven fact. Ask yourselves "how does the rule of Law bend to permit the likes of Obama and Hillary to be "above" the law? One conclusion can only be that the whole system is corrupt. We cannot seek justice in an unjust system. It is corrupt, root and branch. Partial fixes or replacing some will not do. Since the system is corrupt along with all the Washington insiders, it's going to take people coming in from outside of the establishment along with citizens who's eyes are open to turn this around, if that's even possible at this point. This election is the most important in our Nations history. We are at the precipice of becoming a socialist nation. This election and those who are chosen to serve will determine what America will become. I believe this could be Americas last stand....

Michael I believe we have become a socialist nation, slowly over the last 50 years or so, it's been so subtle many don't recognize it. Our Federal government was very limited in what it did until evil men infiltrated and forced socialism by fiat. It goes all the way back as far as Theodore Roosevelt, W.Wilson, FDR, LBJ (I'm sure I left out some others).

Lee........ I think your right on....... If an ever expanding government is Socialistic...... If the restricting of our God given Rights is Socialistic..... If restricting our Christian Liberies is Socialistic..... If restricting our 1st and 2nd Amendment Rights is Socialistic...
If restricting free trade is Socialistic... If the taking down of our Nations boarders is Socialistic.... If allowing immigration without background checks is Socialistic.... If granting illegal immigrants all manner of government support as well as voting rights is Socialistic, then Lee..... You are correct.....

Oh how I wish I weren't correct.  I hope and pray you and your wife are doing well, blessings to the both of you.

Different subject:

Why can't something be done about a president who favors a candidate so much that he can use our airplane and money to fund that candidate. Is there not something that we the people can do? This among many other similar issues is wrong. It should not be tolerated. Is this not an unofficial run in a government vehicle. I remember when I was a Marine and took a jeep to the commissary to pick up some personal items. When I returned I was written up for that offense. I was fined one hundred dollars and restricted to command for three days. Does the U.C.M.J. not apply to all who are part of the military? If I knew what to do I would do it.

Don't cha know Hussein and Hillary are held to a different (lower) standard than real military?

Simple Jeffrey.........all three branches of government....Executive, Legislative, Judicial........are all exercising unlawful behavior.  If one would try to hold another branch accountable, the branch trying to correct the problem would be blackmailed, threatened, maybe worse.

So, therefore, we wallow in lawlessness.  We know it would continue under a Clinton Administration but maybe, just maybe if Trump's elected, he may take the criminals to task.........don't hold your breath.

I believe now that Trump has secured the GOP nomination he has been given the ground rules to follow if he is elected POTUS, or suffer the same fate as JFK. Yep, let's not hold our breath.

I would encourage people to read "Rules For Radicals" to see how Hillary and the other Devotees of Alinsky have used his book as Christians use their Bibles. They have and are following it to the "T".
Alinsky quotes Doskievesky that people have a problem making that first step. So he encourages them to paint the picture that their past and current situation is so bad that they will be forced to take those steps of revolution. I really wish the right would expose the methods the left has been using for so long to the underclass in our country. What they truly need is a hand up, NOT a hand out. By being dependant on the government you lose everything, your dignity, your self respect, your freedom of choice, your ability to use your God given talents to their fullest, your ability to control your own life and destiny. I believe they might wake up if they could see plainly what the left is doing...
These things need to be plainly put to the masses.....
Oh the one thing I forgot to add about to comment on abouts Alinskys acknowledgement of Satan the "First" Radical. In acknowledging Satan he conviently forgot to give the full picture of the consequences of his "Radical" agenda. Yes, he gained a kingdom however, only for a short time looking through the lens of eternity. And the consequences for his actions is to be placed in a place away from the love and fellowship of God for ALL eternity. The bottom line is radicalism in itself is not a bad thing if the goals are in line with Gods Word, His Purpose, and His Desire. Our Founders could be called Radicals as Alinsky refers to them, so was the early Christian Church, but their goals and desires were in line with Gods Word. In the lefts desire to build their idea of Utopia,
They have forgot the most important part: to lay the foundation upon the solid Rock, which is Christ Jesus. Because of that they and those before them including Satan the ordinal Radical: Great will be their fall and they will suffer the everlasting consequences of their UnGodly actions.
