More on the Training of the Marine MPs

I received an email this morning from a retired Marine Gunny that concerns me about the training of the marine MPs. He has a different take on it than what I have seen on our site. Here it is.

For two hundred and thirty odd years, the U.S. Marine Corps has held high honors as a fighting force, a force in readiness, and demonstrated to the world, dedication to principle, a fearless fighting force of men who have chosen to run in to the gun fire, and let the fallen lay where they are while fulfilling the mission, no matter what the costs.

This comes not out of special tactics, we don’t have different plans, secret special abilities, but we all have one thing in common which is the sole driving force keeping Marines the premier fighting force in the world today:  we live on the history of our Corps, the honor of all those who went before us, and while others teach their newest recruits all sorts of things, The Corps teaches its maggots the history of the Marines who set the standard for each succeeding generation.

The most important aspect of the success of the Marine Corps is the fact every Marine has been confronted a thousand times and more with the picture of meeting a long gone Marine in the hereafter, and being confronted with doing less than all, being considered less than worthy of the title, being patted on the head and hearing “that’s all right, not everyone has it in them to be sufficient”.

We have always fought for the Marine on our left and on our right, but never without the sure and certain knowledge we were doing it with a hundred thousand more Marines, looking down upon us, and judging whether we put the whole of our heart before the enemy, knowing anything less is simply “not good enough to be Marine”.

Almost four years ago, Zero told America he was intent on establishing a civil corps as large as our military, for the purpose of bolstering law enforcement, reducing crime, but in truth doing neither more nor less than vastly increasing the government by police forces to further encroach on our personal actions.

The public was not amused, mass protests were lodged with Congress, no member of Congress failed to hear loud and clear, we would not abide with such a plan.  In the mean time, the executive branch, under the guidance of Zero, has essentially assumed vast expansions of its self with no regard for the law or constitution.  The crimes it has committed range from conspiracy to defraud the electorate, to waging war on a sovereign Nation, Mexico.

Just weeks ago, the Marine Corps announced it had just completed the training of three battalions of Military Police, 1500 MP’s, to be used both in Afghanistan and Iraq, to help train the respective civil police forces, and to help with border patrol tasks, and civil unrest here in America, should there be a state of emergency.

When a reporter asked why Marine Military Police, specifically, he was told it was because of our historic success, and the level of training being such that Marines serving in a state of emergency would likely have the responsibility and self-control to serve as police, and be able to separate that task from the general warfighting skills, because they do such, each and every day in their general actions as Military Police.

I don’t believe any of that for one minute.  The one thing all Marines have in common is the fact we are all trained to be “every Marine a Rifleman, First”, and the emphasis on this is greater than everything else combined, throughout training, and throughout service in any unit worthy of its history.

Call me cynical, but I believe this entire plan, from initiating it without announcement, no fanfare, and only a trailer announcement, after the fact, suggests it is our first qualifications as Marines that was the noted property desired, our “instant willing obedience” to orders, to a degree no other service contends.  I believe this to be the reason it was not the Army’s vast numbers of MP’s chosen for this, but the Marine Corps’ comparatively tiny contingent.  Chosen because first, last and always, Marines are warriors, and such that garner the name Teufel Hunden (Hounds from Hell) or “leather-necks” and “those insufferable sons of bitches”; because we don’t quit.

I know that when Hitler decided to go all the way, he took highly regarded military forces, turned into his own SS, and from it, formed what we all know as “the brown shirts”.  As any Luftwaffe Paratrooper what he thought of the SS, you’ll get an answer that will chill you to the bone.  Ask any Soldier who ever served with General Rommel, or the General himself, about the SS, and their connection to the military, and you will hear nothing but derision.

When Hitler established the SS, he changed a military unit which had an Venerable reputation, and turned them into a civil insurrection control Corps, and turned them from Soldiers with Honor, into murderers, torturers, and a personal force capable of defending the most depraved abuse of people we have gotten the films to watch.

I think the Marine Military Police were selected precisely because they are expected to revert to their war-fighting training if they are ever called upon to quell a civil uprising.  I believe their selection was precisely because they can be depended upon to fall back on first training, and capable, and then willing to turn killing on Americans.  I believe the Marines were chosen because lots of political advisors see them as being capable of becoming the next set of “brown shirts”.

  • I'm with you, Gunny.

I understand that there was a survey conducted among our military several years ago which had a question to the effect of "If ordered by a superior to turn your weapons against American civilians, would you do so?"

I don't know how everyone answered, but I read that eighty percent -- 80%! -- of the Marines answered that they would.  That would last until some grunt figures out that some other Marine, somewhere else, is shooting at his family.  Let's hope that it happens before the lead starts to fly.

    Semper Fi.

  • The US of A is a crazy place to live in today.  Twenty years ago, no ten years ago, you never would have convinced me that we would be in this scary situation.  I spent three years in the USMC and twenty-seven in the US ARMY.  I guess we should never underestimate the power that Satan has.  Satan better never underestimate the power that Christians have because of the Precious Blood that Jesus Christ shed on the Cross.  I did read the last chapter, WE WIN.

  • I commented on this issue the other day when I said Marines are not cops, that traditionally is not their mission, and as the Gunny implies, tradition is the foundation of the outfit.  As I said before, they are a, "get in, get it done and get out", fighting force, at least that's the Corps I was proudly a part of.   With reference to a survey which purported to establish that 80% of Marines would fire on American Citizens - based on my personal experience I find that difficult to believe as we were trained to defend America, not destroy it.  I'd have to see the particulars of that survey before giving any credence to it.

  • As I said when posting this, it is an email that I received earlier. It came from the site  http://www.gulf1.com/columns/ , you can subscribe to emails from them and I usually get one or two a week from different members. They are always interesting even if I don't always agree with them totally.

  •  Thanks Gunny, for your insights on this potential invasion of our rights & Liberties, & Our Country's peace. I'll just put in; that hitler, ( no capital letters for dirtbags ), first used his brown shirts, formed of the thugs & gangsters you mentioned, to foment the unrest, that later, hitler used to his advantage; having secured the attention & the control of Germany's people. Before he formed the SS, the brown shirts, having served their purpose, were systematically eliminated ( as in executed ), & the SS was formed. One can draw their own conclusions & comparisons from this, but, if I were involved with anything like this, I would be wary & prepared- which I know from experience; having served in RVN & the States, with many Marines--& enjoying their reassuring presences !! Hoorahh !  AND-(!) God Bless America ! Now THAT is a Tradition we should ALL uphold !

  • My husband is a retired mustang Marine Captain. He agrees with everything that the Gunny had said.  The Marine Corp is cutting 80,000 and will take 1,500 of the remainer of the troops and make additional MP's out of them.  We need riflemen and not more MPs.

  • Well it looks to me like I'm going to have to be the odd man out here.  This guy has absolutely no idea what he's talking about.  I was never a Marine but I do know what soldiers of any branch fight for.  It's not for tradition, it's not because they think thousands of their predecessors are looking down on them.  They fight for the guy on their right, on their left, and for the rest of the guys in their squad or platoon.  They fight because they don't want to be looked upon as the guy who failed his buddies.  And that goes for any combat organization regardless of branch of service.  Steven Ambrose was absolutely 100% correct when he used the term "band of brothers."  I won't go into his drivel about the German Wehrmacht.  About the only thing he got right was the fact that the German airborne troops during WWII were air force personnel and not army.  As regards his reason for the Marine MPs, I suspect that resulted from some political infighting in the Pentagon and a Marine general came out on top.  We need to get over this idea that the people serving at the top of the military food chain are honorable people.  THEY ARE NOT.  They are Obama sycophants of the ilk of Reid and Pelosi except their disloyalty is much more egregious than any of the politicians because they wear a uniform.  Not only do they wear a uniform but they have sold out those of their fellows who are the ones who have to face the bullets.  I am reminded of the 101st's nickname for Patraeus which is/was Betrayus.

    • Marvin, maybe you should discuss it with him, click on his name and you can send a comment that will go to him personally. I have gotten responses from him in the past. Carry on the conversation and see why you and he may disagree, it to me is just another perspective and I like to look at all of them.

      • I think I'll pass on your suggestion Johnny.  I don't mean to be disrespectful and I could very well be wrong but trying to convince him of my point of view would most likely degenerate into a shouting match via the internet.  He is obviously very passionate about the subject otherwise he would not have written such a lengthy treatise.  I, on the other hand, am something of an amateur WWII historian and I have probably read more books, visited more WWII battlefields, and spoken with more vets on both sides of the fighting in Europe than anybody else on this forum and so my comments are based on facts.  Please don't take my comments as bragging or boasting.  I'm merely trying to state facts and present my case.
