On July 17th, the Obama for America Campaign, the Democratic National Committee and the Ohio Democratic Party filed suit in OH to strike down part of that state's law governing voting by members of the military. Their suit said that part of the law is "arbitrary" with "no discernible rational basis."
Currently, Ohio allows the public to vote early in-person up until the Friday before the election. Members of the military three extra days to do so. While the Democrats may see this as "arbitrary" and having "no discernible rational basis", I think it is entirely reasonable given the demands on servicemen and women's time and their obligations to their sworn duty.
The National Defense Committee reports:
[f]or each of the last three years, the Department of Defense’s Federal Voting Assistance Program has reported to the President and the Congress that the number one reason for military voter disenfranchisement is inadequate time to successfully vote.
Personally, I think its unconscionable that we as a nation wouldn't make it as easy as possible for members of the military to vote. They arguably have more right to vote than the rest of us, since it is their service and sacrifice that ensures we have the right to vote in the first place.
If anyone proposes legislation to combat voter fraud, Democrats will loudly scream that the proposal could "disenfranchise" some voter, somewhere. We must ensure, they argue, that voting is easy and accessible to every single voter. Every voter, that is, except the men and women of our military.
Make no mistake, the Democrat lawsuit is intended to disenfranchise some unknown number of military voters. The judge should reject it with prejudice.

When will congress and the rest get enough of all this crap and have obama arrested and removed from office for fraud and treason? I'm so sick and tired of his communist policies.

Permalink Reply by Harry Riley on August 2, 2012 at 3:09pm There can be only one reasonable explanation to the democrat objection to giving military some flexibility in voting. That objection simply boils to who the democrat analysis as to who our military might not vote for??
How can a reasonable understanding of military duty classify as "arbitrary" with "no discernible basis", a policy/'law to help our warriors manage their sacrificial time in order to make it to the polls or get their ballots to the proper location.
This is a disgrace, reflecting a dispicable attitude toward our warriors and families.
Permalink Reply by Clarence E. DeBarrows on August 2, 2012 at 3:28pm It's obvious that the Obama administration sees a problem with the military voter. Why else would they try to limit that group from casting a ballot? The problem for them here is they can't depend on the Black Panthers to intimidate the military voter at the polls, as they did their civilian counterparts awhile back, so they have to employ the next best alternative and limit the time the serviceperson has to vote.

HOW THE HELL CAN YOU BE A COMMUNIST AND STILL BE A CITIZEN IN THIS COUNTRY AND STILL BE ALLOWED TO VOTE, THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE. YET OUR MILITARY HAS A HARD TIME GETTING TO VOTE ( DEMOCRAT CODE WORD FOR COMMUNIST ).
Has been for many years, though I admit I didn't even know it till a couple years ago.
When is the Military going to arrest these illegal Sodomite Liberal democRATS.
Permalink Reply by Johnny Smith on August 2, 2012 at 4:39pm What a sickening thing even for this crowd. They dare to show such disdain for our military! A good beat down is in order for these anti American, feces eating, useless scumbags! The only thing they have accomplished here is to prove even further why they should not even be in this country much less in the positions they are in. Harry Riley got it right, they are doing everything they can to provoke us into doing something about their sorry backsides.
If military ballots are only counted when they can make a difference in the election, I see no reason not to declare the official winner before they are counted. However, they should be counted and the final win statistics should be published for everyone to see. Don't military votes swing to the Republican party nowadays? Whatever their swing, the people of the United States need to see their votes in the finals. The overall vote statistics are important to the people. We want to know what our military people think.
Permalink Reply by Martin L. Church on August 2, 2012 at 11:16pm Ken - I hope you have some rationale for your statement as to why you feel that "WE" want to know what our military people are thinking. Your logic lacks any reasonableness. Your logic, or rather lack of logic, says that every occupation should be identified at the polls, be it carpenters, plumbers, engineers, lawyers, and every other job classification. Get REAL Ken, every voter has a right to vote or do you want to stand over the shoulder of each military voter to see how they vote. Get real, Ken, this is still the United States of America.
Permalink Reply by Johnny Smith on August 3, 2012 at 4:16am Martin, I think that what Ken was saying was that the military's vote as a whole could swing the election to the republican side in a big way, making it a landslide and that if it does it would be nice to know that a majority of the military sides with us. Not that we want to know how each individual votes.
This effort is focused on sacrifice to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic.

Terrorism analysts are rebutting President Obama’s assertion that the “scale of the threat” from Islamic terrorists has reverted to pre-Sept. 11, 2001, levels.
“This is a total fabrication,” said Steven Emerson, whose Investigative Project on Terrorism tracks radical Islam. “The ‘scale of this threat’ in the 1990s never closely resembled the terrorist attacks post 9/11. This is an outright lie.”
The Heritage Foundation has been cataloguing foiled terror attacks post-9/11 by Islamic groups. The number: 54.
James Carafano, a military analyst at Heritage, said the 1990s’ numbers [...]
There have been calls for an urgent debate in the Dutch parliament about the integration of Muslim immigrants amid claims that one area of The Hague, known locally as “the Sharia triangle”, is being run by a form of unofficial Sharia police.
The claims relate to the district of Schilderswijk, about two kilometres from the city centre, where an almost entirely Muslim population of some 5,000 people surrounds the El Islam mosque, fuelling criticism that the government has failed to ensure a [...]
