Dropping The Shield

National Security: The administration is ready to sign a treaty stripping us of our ability to defend ourselves against enemy nuclear missiles, including Iran's and North Korea's. In space, no one can hear you surrender.

On Monday, the ground-based Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system, part of the U.S. missile defense shield, successfully shot down a ballistic missile launched from a ship's deck off Kauai, Hawaii. The test simulated an Iranian SCUD launched from the deck of a ship off the U.S. coast, which, if armed with a nuke, could devastate the American heartland.

The simulated Scud was launched from the deck of the decommissioned 603-foot amphibious assault ship Tripoli. U.S. Army soldiers of the 6th Air Defense Artillery Brigade from Fort Bliss, Texas, successfully intercepted it with a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) interceptor.

Missile defense, the dream of President Reagan, is a successful reality. With a layered system of ground-based, long-range interceptors, the sea-based Aegis system and theater systems such as the Patriot and THAAD, we can defend against — rather than just avenge — a ballistic missile attack.

Yet our disarmer in chief, President Obama, stands ready to strip us naked before our enemies by signing a treaty designed to demilitarize space. Since interceptors such as THAAD are designed to hit their targets on the edge of space and can be modified to kill satellites, such a treaty would effectively ban their use.

Almost simultaneously on Monday, the Obama administration unveiled a new space policy that reverses the Bush administration policy of unrestricted access to and operations in space. The Bush policy, released in August 2006, said it "rejects any limitations on the fundamental right of the United States to operate in and acquire data from space." We had a right to defend ourselves.

Obama’s Military Defense Plan Weak, Invites Attack On America

Obama’s position not to retaliate with nuclear weapons against countries that attack the U.S. with biological or chemical weapons—could encourage banana republics like Hugo Chavez’s Venezuela to development those lethal weapons, even distribute them to terrorists. Because of the size of large nuclear bombs and their large accompanying delivery systems (missiles) they are discoverable by U.S. Intelligence in foreign countries. That would not be the case for example, if eastern nations shifted from wanting nuclear bombs to developing biological/chemical weapons that could kill U.S. Citizens. Currently the U.S. can track and shoot down a limited number of nuclear missiles if launched e.g., by Iran. But biological and small nuclear weapons too easily can be delivered across our Mexican Border or via commercial air vehicles or ships that might be detonated in our harbors causing devastating numbers of deaths, dependent on where the wind blows, the potency of the nuke; chemicals and shelf life of deployed biological agents. It is ridiculously apparent Obama’s position not to retaliate with nuclear weapons against countries that attack America with chemical or biological weapons—will result globally to exasperate the expansion and threat of (biological/chemical weapons.) Obama’s position will encourage small countries and terrorist states to develop those weapons. The U.S. would have difficulty uncovering abiological/chemical weapons in transit to America. Perhaps just as worrisome, historically when a country’s leader has been perceived as weak, its enemies have attacked.

American public distracted by worthless Paper Agreements Obama is making with Iraq.

Have you ever wondered how Saddam Hussein one man, was able to control Iraq and all its competing internal factions—something U.S. Government has failed to achieve despite its large army presence.

You may recall in the early days of the Bush II invasion of Iraq, U.S. forces went to many homes of Iraqi government officials and others and removed boxes containing a million dollars each from tens of houses. Saddam in addition to using force to control Iraq, used oil revenues to payoff government officials and competing factions, e.g. clan and tribal leaders to keep their members in line; clan and tribal leaders used payoff money to pay enforcers to internally cripple anyone who opposed Saddam.

Obama fails to recognize or disclose, that unless those payoffs are restored after the U.S. pulls out of Iraq, there will be war between several Iraqi factions to determine which group(s) control Iraq’s oil. Whatever group controls the oil will control Iraq’s government. So all the written agreements U.S. Government made with Iraq’s preceding government will be worthless. The billions America spent to pay U.S. contractors to rebuild Iraq’s buildings destroyed during the U.S. invasion will been wasted; most sadly American soldiers will have lost their lives in Iraq for nothing; and with Saddam dead and after the U.S. leaves, a nuclear Iran may directly involve itself in a weakened Iraq.

Americans should expect radical changes in the Iraq government the first year America withdraws—unless the current Iraq government restores Saddam’s bribes and payoffs—even that may not stop an Iraq coup perhaps involving Iran. Eastern nations including Iran perceive Obama as weak and don’t expect U.S. forces would return after leaving Iraq, in large troop numbers, as long as Obama is President.
