This is something to consider. We need to discuss these things. Are they helpful or not? What works, what doesn't? What countries infantry would these enemies be? We know for a fact all the U.S. Infantry are not bad guys and will not turn on their families, friends and neighbors, their country. So I don't want this to be used as a post to dog and berate our troops. Flag officers is one thing we do know for a fact the top flag officers are useful idiots....but many of those of lower rank are not...so don't do it.

This is a scenario to get your minds thinking and conditioned to what you may have to do in the future.

Talk of inaction and stupid crap in comments will be deleted.

They do not give due consideration for us the Guerrilla Fighters. If you adopt a command structure that respects the individual fighter and values their life and contributions to the cause. I swear many of the enemy will be persuaded to join your ranks when the time comes for a fight. Hopefully they will bring with them some of that DHS Ammo with them. The Art of War teaches not to have long supply trains of logistical support. It teaches to “forage” off the enemy. We are the fewer in number. Steal from the enemy EVERYTHING.

The "Dirty Dozen" rules for successful militia organizations:1. We are not ‘the infantry’! NEVER fight like the infantry! It is OK to think like the infantry ONLY when looking for a way to defeat them! Remember, infantry battles require lots of collateral support (artillery, mortars, and large supply ammo/people to shoot it, etc.) and we don’t have that. If you fight a ‘standup fight’ with the infantry you (most likely) will die in large numbers.2. A corollary to the first rule: TRAIN AS YOU INTEND TO FIGHT, and make sure that those who act as your OPFOR (opposing force) during training, think and act as the other side would.3. Everyone's a guerrilla. Fight to win. Do the unexpected. Think of Sun Tzu. Everyone is a rifleman first (or “rifleperson” for all you PC types) and will be armed, and fight, as the mission requires.4. Everyone has a part in the success of the mission! If you are in a support or defense role and not ‘on the line’ you still are in the game and your performance counts.5. The highest survivability in ‘front line’ combat is in small, well-trained teams that know and execute the assigned mission. Deploy your units utilizing their smallest components, while insuring that all small-unit actions are coordinated with other teams in the unit. Learn to use these smaller teams as ‘force multipliers’ when the action gets hot, and teach them to communicate effectively in the field for survivability.6. Assure that each team understands the assigned mission, and that they have the training and equipment to accomplish that mission. Help everyone to get 'up to speed' and squared away. Each member of the team should know their role and at least the role of another on that team. Cross train as needed to accomplish this.7. Speak the ‘other’ local languages. Lets face it, not everybody speaks English in this country. Time to learn at least one of the ‘other’ predominate languages in your area of operation. It could save your butt some day and at the least you will get the right food at the drive through.8. Foster ‘esprit de corps’ by forming special teams (only as needed). Remember, this is not accomplished by giving out ‘cool hats’ to everyone in the unit! Also keep in mind; if everybody could have gotten into the unit then it would have been called “Normal Forces” not Special Forces! Make them earn it and make it a mission you need done.9. Every organization needs leadership that is compatible with that organizations mission. There are crisis leaders and non-crisis leaders! Don’t put a person who is a great fire team leader in a support role and expect them to excel right away! Set expectations and help them understand/accomplish the mission.10. The militia is a voluntary organization like no other! In the Army you only volunteer once (when you enlist) and then you have to show up for training or go to jail. In the militia you must MAKE YOURSELF do the job as needed; this is called DISCIPLINE. Recognize this when you see it and reward it!11. Plan to train a lot of folks who ‘see the light’ AFTER the SHTF! If we turn them away they will go somewhere and it may be to the other side! View you current staff/members as the ‘seed corn’ for Americas future units. They will be the ‘squared away ones’ who will do the teaching and lead the masses.12. Be creative in your training. Make it as fun but realistic as possible. Talk about the ‘what ifs’ with you team AND their families. No one will want to fight if they think their families are in jeopardy when they are in the field! Make an action plan to involve and protect your entire militia family.

  • Thanks for posting this it has a lot of good points

    • I so agree the way to defeat a larger force is to figure out what they feel their strong suit is and Bang use that against them ! With what we will be facing it will be over confidence and undermestimating the will power of the people !

  • who ever the other soldiers are saluting, that's who you take out just like the minutemen did in the revolutionary

war, 308 or 30-06 with a good scope will do it most of the time.

  • Hopefully it will not come to war, but it looks like that is the most likely path , since congress is unwilling to do their duty and have all who are a part of this treasonist government brought to justice
  • Thank you again!  Very good points.  It does get your mind working and thinking of many senarios.  I will print this off and forward to like minded!

  • Other items to consider and learn:

    1.  During daylight, watch for and listen for animals and birds.  If a covey of birds take to flight for no apparent reason, there is something there.  It may be just a hungry animal, but it could be the enemy.

    2.  At night, listen for a lack of sounds.  In most places at night there are cicadas, crickets, frogs, etc.  If the night goes quiet, it could be an animal, but usually it is a human.

    3.  Learn to read the ground.  For instance, footprints are usually sharp around the edges when fresh.  They erode as time passes.  Learn to read the passing time.

    4.  Learn to read animal prints.  The enemy may be using dogs, so learn to tell a dog track and check their spoor.  Minutes old means the enemy is very close, be careful.

    5. In urban areas, sometimes the enemy doesn't think, so they will walk through water.  Their wet footprints tell you a lot.  Stay away from any puddles if at all possible.

    6.  Remember, if you can see the enemy, then the enemy may be able to see you.  Three most important "C"'s in combat:  Cover, concealment, camoflage.  Cover is protection from enemy weapons; concealment is hiding, but will not protect you; and, camoflage is making yourself as invisible to enemy as possible so you can kill him/her.

  • Thanks. for this post.

  • Some good information here Twana, thank you....one thing that I noticed; first, right off the bat was the question regarding What Countries Army will it be.

IF the SHTF, the only organized Army we will have to concern ourselves with is DHS and those spineless weasles that do not desert on the grounds that attacking Civilian Americans who support the Constitution with American Forces is inexcusable and in itself TREASONOUS.  I do not believe you are going to see a RED DAWN scenario of Foreign Nationals hitting our beaches; reason being, a foreign attack UNIFIES Americans.

That Unit which will be our immediate problem; is being shown in every problem area which is on TV today.  Watch Egypt, Pakistan, Greece, Syria and Libya.  Now invision those types of battles which you are asking about here; OUR PROBLEMS will be Guerrilla on Guerrrilla on Militia on Militia elements, BOTH Foreign and Domestic.  Take for example #7 and then put yourself in Dearborn, MI.; how many ISLAMISTS are in Dearborn already?  Actually flip this whole article around and be the insurgent....they will do exactly as you are citing here, they ARE DOING EXACTLY what the 12 items are saying.

Our BIGGEST problem is already on American Soil.  They are Islam, New Black Panthers, Aryan Nation, LaRaza/MS-13 et Al.....Remember, you are talking about "Small Unit Tactics", blending to their environment; don't forget te prison population who will have an axe to grind with Society.  Just ask yourself, what has been happening here over the past 30 years?

Which (insert race) is your enemy?  Which is your ally?  Will you be able to tell the difference?  Ask a Viet Nam Ground-pounder how they discerned who was the Viet-Cong.  Any AFG IRQ Vets here who can tell your identification methods to identify insurgents?  WE WILL NEED TRAINING ON THIS.....Profiling will be a MUST.

I would imagine we have a bugout location planned already, if not, why not?  Is it mapped?  Who is already within it's confines?  What are THEIR political VIEWPOINTS?  How do they treat visitors now?  Have you gone out of your way to meet some of them and create at least some neighborly contact?  My Brother-in-law and I go out of our way to strike up conversations when in these areas.  You can learn a lot from someone by just getting to know about what the deer have been doing, what is the best bait and what's biting.  One thing will lead to another, local hospitals? Airport? Artisan vendors?  I walked into a local store this summer looking for firewood for a week, got a GREAT Lead, Great wood at a reasonable price and a dozen farm fresh eggs.  I have a brother Marine contact there now who reloads custom rounds and has known training areas.  A little civility will get you intel you can discern from there.

We have a excellent tool for mapping our bugout location already available to us.  It is the Township/Range and Section map.  Already done for us, public knowledge, searchable, you can even encrypt it; simply get the area you are looking at making your new home during SHTF time....decide how much area you want to know about and secure.  You can look up Townships for your area but here is an explanation from PLSS at http://nationalatlas.gov/articles/boundaries/a_plss.html.  Here is their explanation.

Each township is identified with a township and range designation. Township designations indicate the location north or south of the baseline, and range designations indicate the location east or west of the Principal Meridian. For example, a township might be identified as Township 7 North, Range 2 West, which would mean that it was in the 7th tier of townships north of a baseline, and in the 2nd column of townships west of a principal meridian.  A legal land description of a section includes the State, Principal Meridian name, Township and Range designations with directions, and the section number: Nebraska, Sixth Principal Meridian T7N, R2W.

It is "peacetime".....get that area mapped and then use your own labeling system for YOUR area.  Say it can be divided on the main meridian into Quadrants. (A, B, C and D)  So now you have 36 subsections in each quadrant using that same style 1 on the upper Right corner and 36 on the lower right corner.

So say you are going to patrol or check out a point.  Your team would know the location as "Alpha 1-6", meaning you would be checking out the upper NW Boundry Line.

As long as you are not using the PLSS identifiers for Township or Range, you could be anywhere where this system exists, including additional bugout points; previous topographical information would still apply as it is Apples to oranges.  Tracking would be difficult unless they pinpointed your over the airwave Comm.  Keep the comm short and sweet, using remote antennas you can stay fairly secure in an area which you have recon'ed.

    Just my two cents.......

  • Awesome posting, Snowman.

I would like to add a few suggestions to your wealth of information.

Hiding things from metal detectors, ground penetrating radar, and sniffer dogs--find a cemetery still in use (rural ones are best) and stash underground using proper preparation to avoid detection.  Above ground crypts for short term storage, use graphite on hinges as oil tends to be sloppy and visually detectable.  A small vacuum cleaner, the type used on computers, is best for any graphite over spray.  Also, anything metal needing to be hidden can be placed among other metal objects which have been in plain sight for a long time; scrap piles, junked cars, etc.

Elderly residents of an area can usually be relied on to know where natural caves and other interesting areas are located.

Your mentioning of cultivating relationships locally is a good one.  Sitting around listening to the old timers talk about things long ago is advantageous if you know how to nudge the conversation in the direction you need it to go.

    • Thank you Brother, good info on your end too..Re:  "Also, anything metal needing to be hidden can be placed among other metal objects which have been in plain sight for a long time; scrap piles, junked cars, etc"...

So that why my neighbors have al that CRAP in their yards.........and I thought they were just plain lazy ol' hoarders and Meth labs......who'd of thunk it!  I also heard or read (here I believe) "plant wares vertically" for small signature from above.
