Constitutional Emergency

Right now, idealistic young Americans are gathered together to fight injustice and build a better world.

Sure, they're a little dirty, and maybe some of their language is a bit rough, but they've left behind family and friends, as well as the creature comforts the rest of us take for granted, to make a stand for what they believe in.

It's just too bad that today the mainstream media is focusing on the spoiled, incoherent clowns of Occupy Wall Street and ignoring our young fighting men and women.

The mainstream media's cameras can't get enough of these pierced protesters, with their crudely written signs proclaiming their unfocused discontent and general anger at society's selfishness in failing to satisfy their every want and desire.

Of course, those cameras discreetly turn away when the placards demanding socialist revolution and blaming the Jews come out. The protesters' function is to demonstrate inchoate outrage simply by being there. When they start talking, they start alienating the normals.

These are Potemkin protesters, community organized by government worker unions to allow liberal Democrats a way to triangulate to the center next year. Only the rebel media outfits will actually stick a mic in the protesters' dirty faces and let them talk.

What comes out is a confused hash of gripes about their banks, complaints about their student loans, and whining about the quality of their jobs.

Tragically, graduates of Ivy League universities brandishing master's degrees in minority women's studies are not getting jobs that pay enough to service their $150,000 student loans. Who could have seen that coming?

At least the troops have real jobs, though the monthly paycheck for a private first class of $1,729.80 starts looking even less princely when you figure that the Army is a 24/7 gig, as opposed to a 4-to-8 shift at Starbucks.

And our troops have to worry about staying in one piece while the worst threat a barista faces is a stockbroker outraged that he got a venti half-soy/half-chai latte instead of a grande.

Even as the protesters count down the number of days of their "occupation" of downtown parks and sidewalks, on Oct. 7 our troops marked the 10th anniversary of war on battlefields where their next step could make them triple amputees.

But the troops would not complain to the cameras even if there were any left in the war zones documenting their struggles. They aren't whiners. They may be the same general age as the Occupy Wall Street gang, but they occupy a very different, less frivolous world.

On a windy mountaintop in Kunar province, a tired 22-year-old infantryman on patrol rests and shares a swig of warm water with his buddy. In Manhattan, a 22-year-old from Scarsdale shares a bong-load of killer weed with a guy sporting dreadlocks and a Che T-shirt he got at Hot Topic.

Nearby, a young lady whose TA canceled that afternoon's NYU oppression studies seminar so everyone could head to the protest feverishly types away at a screed about the militaristic inhumanity of American capitalism on her new iPad.

In Afghanistan, a young American soldier with a locked and loaded M4 assures a band of nervous Pashtun mothers that her platoon will make sure the Taliban don't come and butcher their daughters for the sin of attending school.

Across Zuccotti Park, a self-described human rights activist with a sociology degree from Yale screams "Fascist!" at the weary NYPD cop who told him to move along and stop blocking the street.

At the same time, a world away, a first-generation Mexican-American medic from Fresno who a year ago was graduating high school ignores the impact of AK-47 bullets all around him as he desperately tries to stop the bleeding from the sucking gunshot wound in his platoon sergeant's chest.

The Occupy Wall Streeters celebrate with ramped-up bongo drumming, high-fives and "up-twinkles" when they successfully defend the park from its rightful owners' attempt to clean up their filth.

Our exhausted troops quietly remember those maimed and lost liberating millions from unspeakable tyranny in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Our troops likely don't give any thought at all to these spoiled adolescents. But if they did, they might suggest that if these Occupy Wall Street losers really wanted to fight injustice and build a better world, they would get a haircut, head to a recruiting station and occupy a pair of combat boots.

Eagle One;

Thank you for your service to our great nation, both past and present. The Michael Yon site is a great site and he does tell the story as it is with his pics and posts. He is there on his own dime, so owes no loyalty to ANY of the MSM groups that "shape and spin" our news for us. His posts do however have to go through Military Command for approval and he does push the envelope with them from time to time.

One quirk about Michael's site is at the top of the page, where he has the "NEXT" with the arrow; click on that and it will take you to his PREVIOUS post. If he has a multy page post, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the appropriate page number listed there to continue the posting in the correct order.

Help spread the word brother Patriot, and I for one would be proud to stand next to you in the front lines of our battle here.

Semper Vigilantes,

John

I had many friends went to Nam and my brother trained troops, including vietnamese who were brought here to train. I was disgusted at the attitude the so-called American public had against you guys when you returned.  It' s awesome to see the way you've stepped out to make sure it doesn't happen to this generation of military heroes. God bless you for your sacrifice, and forgive us for not being as active as john & jane were in those days. Now it's my kid & grandkid, & spouse, with many friends that are serving and I know I must do all I'm physically able to keep their back at home. With physical limitations, that's mostly effecting public opinion on message boards, etc. Love your statement about the old man with gray hairs, may I quote it?

Excellent article and the point is well taken Scott, thanks for sharing it..!!

Regarding the authors statement;

"But the troops would not complain to the cameras even if there were any left in the war zones documenting their struggles."

There is a journalist that is still currently embedded with the troops and posting from Afghanistan. I don't know if you've heard of this guy, his name is Michael Yon and he is a reporter (independent) that is "boots on the ground" with our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and has been there since around 2005. I have been following him for several years now and he is all about the troops and the truth.

This link will take you to his online magazine and many of the stories that he has posted and done over the years are available there. There are also some great (and very graphic at times) pics there as well.

"{ALL}" candidates for public office, Local State, and Federal must sign a pledge that we will get These United States Of America out of the United Nations; to prevent a Satanic New World Order.

Let's return to 1966, when I was in Vietnam, and all the "hippies" were protesting, and running off to Canada, in order to avoid going to Vietnam--I have dis-owned a great nephew over his involvement in the current crap, along with Van Jones---And he told me he didn't know who Van Jones was--Hell, he doesn't have a clue what is happening--
Despicable isn't it? Another lost generation?
We should be doing like Israel and if you get out of high school you spend 6months to 1 year in the service.. that way they know what it means to watch over our country.... And the service would make them people that would stand for their country... It would also show who is a coward and would not stand for the USA...
We used to; they called it the draft; and it got abolished.  Remember, even Elvis served?

Serving in a battle zone is already a very dangerous occupation. Current ROE's make it extremely so, do we really want cowards and self centered narcisists to be responsible for "watching the backs" of our heroes who are there for love of country. Remember the Ft. Hood shooters (1 & nearly 2) were both soldiers and both volunteered but then decided they didn't want to go to battle. Imagine if even half the "occupants " were to be drafted to serve?  john kerry would be the poster child for what we'd have.

The idiots who're celebrating the end of don't ask/don't tell are causing enough harm to our ability to defend this nation.

I don't think Canada wants them any longer.  But it's a nice idea...
Reality?  REALITY?  To a marxist-socoipath socialist communist atheist Nazi dirtball?
