What does America want? We want more quality education and less jails; more freedom and
less tyranny; more enterprise and less government regulation; more
principles and less greed; more justice and less inequity; in fact,
more of the opportunities to cultivate life, liberty, and the pursuit
of happiness the way our fore and founding fathers envisioned.
The federal government is asking the American people to make sacrifices and to be willing to cut until it hurts in order to help pull us out of our current recession. I am asking Congress, “As leaders, where are you, as individuals, making the cuts you are asking Americans to make?” Leaders lead by example. I believe it is time for elected officials to bring the necessary reformation to Washington starting with their own personal pocketbooks. No one likes to sacrifice, cut the perks, or say, "No", to the extra benefits, but for the good of this country, the future of our children...we MUST! To provide quality education, justice, enterprise, and freedom, sacrifice must be made.
I am going to set precedence that I hope many of my counterparts will follow in order to
help alleviate the strain on taxpayers. It is time to elect people who
will make the cuts to their own personal
remuneration as an example to the rest of Washington, DC and the country; individuals who will view the office as public service not employment. With this in mind, I believe we need
a new oath for the Congressional officials that will represent the good
of the people and I hereby pledge the following upon my honor:
I do solemnly affirm that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States
against all enemies, foreign and domestic;
that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will
represent the people of the 8th district with integrity and transparency; and that I will not enroll in the government HC and pension offered to this office so that I will not be a burden to the taxpayers. So help me God. ~ Kristi
