"[T]ake care that the laws be faithfully executed ... support the Constitution ... faithfully execute the office of president of the United States, and ... preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." --Article II Section 1, 3, the Constitution of the United States
This is no "typical" election year, a point lost for the most part by Republican presidential candidates and obscured by the national media. This just accounts for the fact that a substantial majority of conservatives voters (both Republicans andIndependents) have yet to approve of anyone on the current slate, and consequently, tell pollsters they prefer "other."
What Beltway political advisers and pundits fail to grasp is that the 2012 federal electionswill have enormous ramifications upon the future of our Republic and upon prospects for sustaining Liberty through our current national government structure. That structure, now severely destabilized, is a mere shadow of what the Founding Fathers envisioned and enshrined in our Constitution.
Treating this election cycle as anything less than the critical historical tipping point it is thereby dishonors the enormous sacrifice of blood and treasure that generations of American Patriotshave sacrificed in support and defense of our Constitution.
Sadly, the Republican presidential contenders are still running plays out of an antiquated and self-destructive political attack playbook. They do so at great cost, both financially andto the ultimate objective of defeating Barack Hussein Obama.
The beneficiaries of this primary season's Republican rancor are, once again, the mainstream media, the plethora of pollsters and, of course, the Democrat Party. Meanwhile, Obama does not have a primary opponent (other than the economy), and thus is building an enormous political war chest for the upcoming general campaign.
While it will require many election cycles to undo the severe political injuries inflicted upon our Republic by generations of Leftists, the restorative process began in earnest with the 2010 midterm election of many "Tea Party" candidates -- those who rallied grassroots voters around restorative constitutional campaigns. We have a protracted and arduous fight to turn back the tides of Democratic Socialism -- and time is noton our side.
Though congressional elections are important, and conservatives are making significant headway in the Legislative Branch, it is election of the next Chief Executive that will most determine whether we restore Rule of Law, or our nation succumbs to the fatal cycle of democracy, further submitting to authoritarian government rule and plunging into the gaping abyss of socialism.
(Notably, the U.S. has dropped from 9th to 10th place in the just-released 2012 Index of Economic Freedom.)
Though The Patriot Post devotes substantial energy and resources to evaluate candidates, we do not endorse presidential candidates until the general election. However, given all we have learned about the current field of Republicans, there is one candidate we could endorse and fully support.
Unfortunately, that candidate exists only as a composite of the best attributes from each of the actual candidates.
This amalgamated profile is important because it encompasses the qualities that all Patriots seek in candidates for federal office. Thus, what follows is a collection of winning conservative attributes, which, in some measure each of the current GOP candidates possesses, with the exception of one.*
The best candidate for the job is devoted to Liberty as endowed by our Creator and enshrined in our Constitution. He (because the remaining candidates are male) is a man of strong faith, is devoted to his family and has served his nation in uniform with honor. He has a good record of executive leadership, both in the private sector and government. He is an effective advocate for free enterprise, limited government and tax reform. He is smart, articulate, charismatic, experienced and a great debater with a remarkable sense of history. He has an outstanding comprehension of complex domestic and foreign policy matters. He bases his positions on constructionist logic, not political expediency, and is bold in his vision for our nation. He is salt of the earth from an strong family. He has formative ties to the renaissance of American conservatism launched by Ronald Reagan.
Of course, it would also be instructive to develop a composite based upon all the negative attributes of the contenders, but the GOP circular firing squad is already doing a fine job of promoting their liabilities.
As our ideal presidential candidate is not among the current lot, we must all vote for the primary candidate who most closely embodies him. I would encourage every Patriot to ignore the meaningless Iowa caucus and more so, the New Hampshire primary, as that former conservative stronghold is now little more than a political suburb of Boston. (Oh, but that we would have all primaries on a single day, rather than defaulting to the victors of minuscule Iowa and New Hampshire primaries, neither of which are substantially representative of grassroots conservatives across the nation. But a national primary day would put the choice in the hands of the people, rather than the GOP establishment and the 24-hour news cycle talkingheads.)
All other candidate attributes notwithstanding, we should, first and foremost, demand that every candidate, and president, affirm Rule of Law in compliance with their Sacred Oathto Support and Defend our Constitution.
In the words of Justice Joseph Story, "No man can well doubt the propriety of placing a president of the United States under the most solemn obligations to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution. It is a suitable pledge of his fidelity and responsibility to his country; and creates upon his conscience a deep sense of duty, by an appeal, at once in the presence of God and man, to the most sacred and solemn sanctions, which can operate upon the human mind."
Our single focus must be to defeat Obama, and frankly, I would fully endorse a turnip in order to achieve that objective.
*Jon Huntsman's best attribute is that he is a superlative example of what notto support in a Republican candidate, as affirmed by his strong performance ahead of Gingrich, Santorum and Perry in the New Hampshire primary, where centrist Independents and Democrats outnumbered Republican voters.

What you are doing is BS and you know it. Twana doesn't need me to come to her defense but I'm going to do it anyway...
Are there some Patriots that have fallen for the Rob Paul hype? Yep. Are their numbers so huge that they would change an outcome? Very doubtful. The truth is that Ron Paul supporters come from very questionable corners of America, and unfortunately some Patriots have gotten caught-up in the hype that has been built around him.
Let me give you a "did you know" rundown...
Something that I recently learned was info that came from one of the two major newspapers in Boston. I honestly forget which one. I was watching an early morning interview with one of the Fox News talking heads and the Political Editor of the Boston Paper who's name I forget. The conversation was NOT about Ron Paul, it was more about the New Hampshire Primary in general. The politics Editor was talking about things they glean from the elections in the NE during Presidential election years. One piece of info was very interesting concerning Ron Paul.
Back in 2008 after the election was over, the Newspaper commissioned a study to see why certain voting blocks voted the way they did. Keep in mind that between the two large Boston Newspapers they cover the entire North East so their readership is huge. They are the Big Dogs in the NE. Anyway, one very surprising thing they found out was those that voted for Ron Paul in the primaries (around the country), mostly ended up voting for BARACK H. OBAMA. Let that sink-in for a second. Are these the Patriots you are talking about? I hope not.
Then let's examine where some of his other support comes from...
You are aware that Code Pink supports him, right?
You are aware that a lot of OWS protesters support him, right?
You are aware that much of his support comes from people that think that Ron Paul will legalize Pot and Cocaine, right?
You are aware that many of the "Medicinal Pot Growers" in California support Ron Paul with large amounts of $$$ run through PAC's, right?
You are aware that "White Supremacist Groups" like the KKK support him, right?
You are aware that Ron Paul is a true Libertarian and that the true Libertarian philosophy over-laps with Anarchy, right?
And you want to give Twana crap over his connection with Soros? Get over it and wake-up.

Some will argue the sky is never blue, nor the grass is never green. You, like most of us read the articles, read the postings, and research on our own, to find these politicians own words that back up the facts. It's not an easy task, and it takes hours, days and weeks. I have been doing it on my own for many years. When I got my first computer in 1999 I started researching candidates, and people in office. The internet has come a long ways since then. I'm a member of several sites such as this, where I'm able to get more input and more ideas, and more leads for my research, which I didn't have in the beginning. For years, I felt I was alone in my quest for the truth. I have found though (even among some family and friends) that they have a policy of hear no evil, see no evil, think no evil, say no evil -- then what they have believed forever will remain "truth" for them. When they finally do wake up, because they are my family and friends I will be there with the truth for them where they can verify all I say and have said to them. I too believe a vote for Ron Paul is a vote for Obama. I believe Ron Paul WILL NOT get the Republican nomination but I believe he will run on a third party ticket then, and the votes he gets will be the votes that get Obama reelected. Ron Paul supporters WILL NOT get behind anyone else, and by the time they get Obama back in the WH it'll be too late!/. Keep up the good work.

Permalink Reply by Journal of Constitutional Reset on January 12, 2012 at 9:12pm All instance of humanity evident are evidently full of sh!t. May God help us because we obviously need it - and we are obviously still a work in progress - and so largely not fit to be judged yet. Even so, we must make some choice and therefore must judge - perhaps we can include God's part in our judgment and so avoid grave error.
We are going to come under Judgement as a Nation and any who think other wise have put there heads in the sand. READ your Bible and then look at what has become of a Nation that was established as one Nation under GOD. Perhaps those who think we are not going to fall under JUDGEMENT should read Billy Grahams prayer to a Nation.
AS A NATION WE MUST REPENT TO FOREGO JUDGEMENT as was the case for Nineveh for a time.
Prayer is are strongest weapon against the enemy. LUKE:19:10 Behold I give you the power to trample over serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means harm you.
PRAY MY FELLOW VETERANS AND PATRIOTS
GOD BLESS ALL
Which video came first? That is necessary to know before calling him a liar. Besides, Karen said "as perfect as we will ever see again" she didnt say "perfect."
Permalink Reply by MollieB55 on January 14, 2012 at 12:29am I became involved in politics 2 years ago at the local level. I will be a state delegate and have met the local "GOP' headquarters elite and several of our presidential candidates. I am neither young nor stupid but I was stunned to learn that "Liar" should be included as a synonym for "politician" and "politics." Paul gets one point for having read the Constitution. None of the others have a clue!
Permalink Reply by MollieB55 on January 14, 2012 at 4:12pm Sigh! You just had to name my two favorite candidates! Gingrich's books are excellent but are mostly on history and the Founding Fathers - not the actual meaning of the Constitution. And while I am still researching for the true facts of Sanatorium's background, I like most of what he says during the debates. The sad truth is that this country has not followed our Constitution for decades. We make laws and then delcare "it is Constitutional." That is not the way it is supposed to work.
An example - the Senate offers up its own version of a revenue bill. IT HAS NO CONSTITUTIONAL AUTHORITY TO DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN OFFER AMENDMENTS TO A REVENUE BILL. ALL REVENUE BILLS ARE TO ORIGINATE IN HOUSE! This has been going on for decades. Why is the House not complaining? Why are the citizens not marching in protest?
I would like to see us move back toward the original Constitution. That is Ron Paul's view. Therein lies the rub! This is not the same world any more. But the Constitution was meant to "living" in that it could be changed not by laws or the President or SCOTUS but by Amendments. So why not do it that way?
I am livid that we have not had a Constitutional war since WW!! I am tired of seeing Presidents usurp Congress's power and Congress allowing it by funding these wars without declaring war.
I know the 2000 Congress had a copy of document because I was part of a group that hand delivered a copy of the Constitution tof every single member.
I would like to see the same activism for the Constitution as the OWS crowd showed.
With the SC primary coming next Saturday and having spent two years as the only member in the precinct going door to door and making phone calls, I am so discouraged and, frankly, terrified for my country. No on is interested, wants to get involved, cares,or has the time.
I believe I have run out of charm, patience and politeness. I know I have stopped making the calls because I fear I cannot be nice any more.
Sorry for long answer. I guess I am trying to explain my frame of mind. I do have great respect for the gentleman you mentioned and pray that one of them gets the nomination.

Imagine hussein and paul on a debate, the moderator's first question is “what qualifies you for POTUS?”
.
“When one gets in bed with government, one must expect the diseases it spreads.”

…whom are you gonna vote for?!

Permalink Reply by Richard E. Nygaard on January 12, 2012 at 11:30pm Oh get off it Karen. Ron Paul is a horrible candidate. I prefer his son and he is not even a candidate. Ron Paul is so far out of it except for his announced intentions for the economy, his foreign policies suck and would be as ruinous as Obama's if not worse. And while we will never see another Reagan any time soon, absolutely none of the candidates have shown they have the guts, brains and wherewithal to carry the burdens of the office not to mention return the freedoms Obama and the Democrats have stolen from us.
As for the rest of you, Stop living in the past as the National Republican Leadership both serving and in the NRC and get behind Santorum and Newt the only two with any real Character left. Otherwise the answer is not Obama and socialism because the 3%ers and I (although I am not a member of that group) will no doubt make certain that Obama does not serve a second term along with a Democratic led Senate...For we can not accept a President that is at once at war on two fronts while destroying our wonderful military, at war with the congress of both houses bypassing everything they do not want him to do and using tools illegally granted to other presidents (and using them in excess)and finally at war with the majority of contributing citizens whom he is desparately seeking to make non-contributing by taking away their means of contributing to our economic growth. Neither can we accept his national policy appointments of extreme radicals who are not only extreme but are insane like the former La Raza leader.....You get the picture? Obama wins, it is virtually assured that a civil war starts the next day. We do not need that nor do we need Obama and his ilk including some of the Worst Congressional representatives in our history telling us what we can and cannot do. We need to be telling them what they can and cannot do or to get the hell out of our house and do not let the door hit them in their rear ends on the way out....Frankly, I am getting sick of the moaning and groaning about Ron Paul, and Romney being the only clowns out there to beat Obama. I say there are millions of us out there that could beat Obama and every other of the 435 members of Congress that violate their oaths every day by failing to take action afforded them by the very document that they swore to uphold, defend and protect......Get Some people.....Semper Fi.
This effort is focused on sacrifice to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic.
