We all know that every person who is elected to fill a federal office, every member of the military, every federal judge, and every federal bureaucrat take an oath to defend and protect the Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic. We all know that the pretender in the White House has not lived up to that oath. Most of the members of Congress have abrogated their oath. One need only look at and listen to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs to know that he not only considers his oath null and void but also owes no loyalty to the troops under him. We also know that the faithfulness to the Constitution of the Supreme Court hangs by a thread. As for all of the other Federal bureaucrats and appointees don't even think about raising the question of loyalty to their oath and the Constitution. All this being said, it begs the question how do we the people cause this oath and faithfulness to the Constitution to be enforced when the enemy is a domestic enemy? And, I don't mean this to be a rhetorical question. I would really like to know if there is an answer. I have nothing but admiration and respect for the founding fathers but it seems to me that this is one area where they failed.
Got your message Mr Grisafi...... Interesting that you comdemn me as a coward without knowing anything about me or my background.
My post was meant to convey my belief that an armed rebellion is simply not going to happen in what America has become today. When you look at the demographics of this century they are quite unlike those of 1776. There is no possibility that an armed band or militia group will gain the upper hand against a government force.
You would have to unite the near majority of Hyphenated Americans, bless their hearts, (who did not exist in the 18th century) and have them follow you to the barricades. Do you believe La Raza will fight for you in a move to take away their power . Will the Mexican Americans join in a noble cause to return to the days before they could exercise political power? What about the Asian Americans, what will they be willing to give up to join in a fight to restore the "good old days" for you.
And the Blacks, will they stand for the dissolution of all the programs that help them survive?
This country now belongs to a whole different set of folks who don't know or care about the old days. They are happy with today's system, led by one whom they feel is their own. Protected by Political Correctness and corrupt self serving politicians, they are in charge ... and you can believe that their intent will not be to destroy the "Golden Goose" of the new Amerika.
If you do set up that barricade you better keep close watch on "your six" and wear body armor to keep you from being stabbed in the back.
Your only hope is that the Republicans take back the White House and the Congress. And then you will have to pray that this disaster that has befallen my country and yours' can be reversed..I don't think I will see that happen in my lifetime. I pray that in your lifetime it is.
Bless you for your patriotism, I wish you Godspeed in your endeavors.
Jim Bertram, USAF Ret.
Barbara, I understand your pain.
Let me point out very respectfully to you that you have, without even realizing it, accepted the political Correctness disease in your use of the term "Spanish American" illegals. They are not by any stretch Spanish! They are Mexicans, who are for the most part, simply seeking a better life which is, for them, close by....if they can only get there. Sure, some will abuse the system as will any part of any group.
This is a digression here, but;
I live in New Mexico where the Mexican and Spanish cuture has been since before the Pilgrims arrived . The reluctance in America nowadays to call a spade a spade has been, in my opinion, what has got us to this point in the first place. There are many folks here descended from the early Conquistadore expeditions. They are the most Patriotic Americans anywhere. They and the Latinos run this state ( I would vote for our Governor in a heart beat for President) and though their politics are generally not in agreeement with mine, I would live nowhere else.
But you see, the Political Correctness disease has destroyed my country and what we have left, is today's generation's cross to bear. I just don't believe it will ever be the country that so many of us wish it were again. Whether I like to admit it or not , those days were fine for me, but not for a lot of people. Those people are now in charge.
God bless them all.
Jim Bertram, USAF Ret.
I don't have to know you. Your words speak volumes. Your words are "I've given up. Leave the world to the next generation." If that is your belief so be it. But I love my grandchildren enough to want to try and at least believe that I can and will fight the good fight when the time comes, if the time comes while I'm still breathing. Yes, the world is a different place than it was 230 years ago. But our constitution has not changed. Also, our Founders WOULD NOT HAVE LET THINGS GET SO FAR OUT OF HAND.
Goggle Athens, Tennessee and find out what happened there in 1946. The world was different in 1946 but that didn't stop them.
Good for you USAF Ret. I did my four years in the Air Force stationed in England and throughout Europe 1966 to 1970. I swore to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America. And that's what I intend to do until I'm six feet under.
I have just one question, my friend. Who was shooting at you in England and Europe between 1966 and 1970. Have you ever seen flak, or 37 MM whizzing by your window or close up results of a 300 pound bomb. Were you ducking and weaving on the Picadilly battlefield?
Those things were going on during those years on the other side of the world, you know. A number of my goods friends died there
.You have no business judging me, mister. I never indicated I would stand on the side lines....I have been there... done that... I would do it now if I was not Eighty years old and more than a bit creaky. I am just trying to point out to you that talk of an armed insurrection is cheap, and bravado at your computer keyboard is cheaper still. And no matter what you claim you would do, you are simply not going to get the chance. So you will never know, will you?:
Enjoy your fantasy and your war movies.
Have a good life.....
Jim Bertram USAF Ret.
.......James and Joe.....This has gone far enough....you both have had your say toward each other........I've heard enough. Knock it off.......only warning.
You are correct, Harry.
I apologize to the whole group.
I will say no more on this matter.
THERE IS ALWAYS ''HOPE'' ITS OUR COUNTRY, WE MUST DO WHAT OTHERS WON'T THAT IS CONGRESS, SENATE, JUDGES THAT WOULD NOT LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE & GOD BLESS ALL
Joe.......your personal observations toward James are a bit to harsh.....I haven't viewed any previous comments by James to indicate he is anything but a patriot. Points can be made, discussion rendered without moving personal...thanks.
Organize--it is going to take a massive effort and though I grow impatient I do agree with many of the points made by James and do not think he is anything but a Patriot--Lets not waste energy and ammo hating each other. SEMPER FI
Sorry Harry, but I call them as I see them. What happened in Athens, Tennessee in 1946 can happen again. You just have to have the will power and courage to do it. Frankly I don't care what Jim wants to do or how he wants to do it. It's his life. Thus our free country. But he must accept the meaning of his words. I read it that he will stand on the side lines. If that's his decision, oh well.
Joe.......I agree with you that there will be no surrender of Founding Father principles, Constitution, or every effort to restore constitutional government in the United States. For sure things have been changing in America since 1492......and it will continue to change. I think we're all saying, the fight is on until we have no more fight to give.....it will be a monumental task to return to some semblance of what America was 50 years ago, when for the most part moral values were based on Biblical Truths and our Bill of Rights...now we're moved away from both.....however, we can return and the proof of the pudding as to our return will depend on the November 2012 election....if we fail to reject, dismiss, throw out Obama decisively, then I'm not so sure we'll be left with any option but to fight for the return........God help us if that is the option...for those that have witnessed the battle field, that's last picture I want America to reflect...talk about America never looking the same........
