This is a very troubling story.  While I am not equipped to discuss all aspects of this story, I welcome discussion and information sharing.

This earth mover was positioning an inlet box at the corner of Church Street in Cokedale Monday. Soldiers from the Colorado National Guard were working to improve streets and drainage, with the inlet boxes a critical component of the work. Cokedale Colorado is a small town 8 miles west of Trinidad Colorado. Population 132 with about 50 houses. 5 military flat beds are parked there, having brought in 3-4 dozers, 2-3 graders, a couple of front end loaders, 6-8 dump trucks, a bobcat, a handful of hum v’s, and a tanker truck, probably for fuel. A close-up of Cokedale from Google maps below. Why would the US military have such an interest in developing a small town like this:

They are installing culverts, reworking the dirt roads in the town, all of them at once, and have a post at the entrance of the little town. Trinidad Ambulance District vehicles and volunteer fire department vehicles were on scene as well.

It appears, the town is being reworked for quartering troops and there will probably be tents up near the small school very soon, which looks to be where the headquarters will be. This is a major operation. Every road in town is being prepared with a road base intended for heavy traffic.

The location is perfect for up river operations into the mountains or down river 8 miles to the town of Trinidad Colorado. Cokedale is at the back of Trinidad Lake and has a live stream flowing through to the lake. Water and infrastructure is provided for in this small little town. Upon entering or leaving the town, you must pass a guard shack manned by one guy sitting on his duff like he is bored out of his mind, just sitting there next to his alice pack.

On Friday of last week, the gov, military, and banks said they are prepping for collapse. Tanks, APC’s, Troops, Hum V’s, Helicopters, Camps, Drones, and Checkpoints are being reported in cities across the nation. The Department of Homeland Security has just ordered another 750 million rounds of ammunition, for a total of 1.4 BILLION rounds in the past year. That’s enough ammo for our military to fight a 14 year war.

Yet the "activity" is explained away in this article:

Construction has begun on a stormwater detention facility on Bureau of Land Management property on Leach Creek along 27 1/4 road north of Grand Junction. The work is being done by Colorado National Guard, 947th Engineer Company, in partnership with the city of Grand Junction, the 5-2-1 Drainage Authority and the BLM. The Guard gains valuable training skills with this job, says 1st Lt. Eric Carlton, company commander.

Grand Junction Mayor Bill Pitts understands the power and the destruction rushing water from a quick storm over the Bookcliffs can cause residents along the Leach Creek Drainage…

But isn't it true ... as reported by "[a] retired Navy Seabee (naval construction forces), I can tell you this. U.S. military troops are not permitted by law to perform construction work on U.S. Soil that could otherwise be performed by a private contractor. The unions sued for this to prevent the government from using govt labor to make out cheap and erode oppurtunities for the civilian sector.

There are a couple of exceptions. Seabees are allowed to do civic action work such as make
improvements at a school where the school buys the materials. Also, additions can be made to a building. There was one case where a base wanted a new armory.  They skirted the law by building an addition, tore down the old section, then built another addition, essentially a new armory."

Eyewitness accounts are reporting activity.

  • I can confirm that what is quoted from the retired Seabee is true, I remember when I found that out that I thought how stupid it was. If the military were allowed to do their own construction projects and to assist towns and cities with theirs the savings would be big, savings to the taxpayers. As for why the NG would want a post in that area, your guess is as good, or better, than mine.
