WASHINGTON - Endorsements from the Veterans of Foreign Wars
Political Action Committee have so enraged many VFW members that its elected leaders have asked the PAC to immediately rescind all endorsements for next month's election.

The PAC's leaders flatly rejected the idea Wednesday. The veterans group established the PAC in 1979, but it is operated separately. The PAC bases its endorsements on how lawmakers voted on
specific issues of importance to veterans and members of the military.

"The VFW-PAC will not abandon those in Congress that have supported issues of critical importance to our nation's security and veterans," said a statement posted on the PAC's website.

Hundreds of VFW members have been calling the national headquarters in recent days to complain about some of the endorsements, particularly about two races - both featuring Democratic incumbents.

In one race, Sen. Barbara Boxer of California got the PAC's endorsement over Republican Carly Fiorina. In the other, Rep. Ron Klein of Florida got the endorsement over Republican and Iraq war veteran Allen West.

In calling on the PAC to rescind its endorsements, the VFW's commander in chief, Richard L. Eubank, and two other officers said that the endorsement process "unintentionally provided favoritism to the incumbents."

"It is now evident it was unfairly skewed," Eubank wrote in a letter published on the organization's website.

The VFW has about 1.5 million members, and the endorsement from its PAC is usually widely advertised by the candidates.

Sounds like the PAC is rudderless from its members. Members have allowed the PAC to run on auto-pilot...once a member like all memberships, committees should keep those who are politically active in-check. Defunding of programs, removal of perks etc...deemed necessary in order to do NO harm to veterans or country in the long term, 3-5-10 years down the road. Senators, Representatives who pander to PACS or visa versa just to keep them in position...red flags should fly. This is far from over. However when the reduction of membership follows and endorsements becomes less, the rooting out of those folks who subverted the system and processes, or who were bought eventually surface, they resign, snakes as they are quietly go back into their holes...later to surface at another time when they see a weakness in the membership of an organization.

Basically...it is like the church today; For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. Jud 1:4
Boxer who insulted the General on TV-ignorant Boxer, unbelievable and Klein over West-you've got to be kidding
Just sent VFW an email-mt Dad was a member -no more will I support any thing they do

This will make your blood boil as it did mine when I retrieved the letter Waxman wrote. Aiding and abetting the enemy use to be treason! Barbara Boxer wrote a letter too so too all you voters in California, Boxer and Brown are very BIG supporters of the traitorous twits Code Pink and Code Pink are very BIG supporters of Barbara Boxer and Jerry Brown! SHAME ON THE VFW PAC and I hope this organization is dismantled! They do not represent any Veteran I know of!

i just put that very article on f/b and intend to blog it, esp. to military sites.
This just gets more and more nauseating by the day. These people need to be sent out on the front lines with their current ROE; empty weapons, and told to not come back without captured enemy agents! If they don't turn on each other, maybe we'll get lucky and the Taliban will kill them before they realize it's their pals with empty guns!
The VFW PAC and not the leaders of the VFW did this. The leadership of the VFW asked the PAC to rescind its endorsements on Wednesday, the PAC refused on Thursday. Friday saw the CIC of the VFW relieve all PAC committee members of their jobs and will leave the committee unseated until after the issue is dealt with at the next convention in San Antonio, TX next August..
I received notice from Dept of Mo Sr-Vice Commander yesterday evening and from Todd Struwe who is running for National VFW Jr-Vice CDR in 2011 through Facebook. I questioned him about his source and he said that CIC Eubanks called him personally with the news. Maybe something will be posted about it on the National website tomorrow.
Now why did you post that link to me at MyWebCom? You could have asked anything you wished through private message.
OK Twana, good enough. I found you through a "google alert" I am the Blogmaster for the Dept of Mo and have been maintaining the Dept of Mo weblog since 07. I have been maintaining my post 3770 and dist 18 weblogs since 06. I receive a lot of background information that is not readily available. The VFW is a fine organization and my post works hard for service members, veterans and in the community. We do not have a bar so do not have that albatross around our necks. http://www.vfwwebcom.org/mo/post3770
