Former Guantanamo Bay detainee Ahmed Ghailani was found not guilty on all but one charge Wednesday by a civilian jury in New York, in a case with ramifications for President Obama's policy toward Guantanamo and civilian trials for terror suspects.

Ghailani was acquitted in federal court on more than 280 charges in connection with the 1998 bombings of the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, including one murder count for each of the 224 people killed. He was found guilty for only one charge, conspiracy to destroy government buildings.

  • Are motto in America is safeguard are enemy's, no harm to are enemy's,leave them alone. (Obummer )
  • What do you expect with all the liberal Judges that we have.90% of our Judges and Prosecutors are crooked. They dont have any idea as to what it takes to be a terrorist and they think they should have the same rights that we have as Citizens.
  • They know not, what they do..........

When these Liberals start screaming because they are being overran and murdered by these heathens who will they look to for help?
  • The Fort Hood tragedy and subsequent cover-up leads me to suspect that the same thing could probably happen with a military tribunal too. The most important thing in successful prosecution of terrorists is honorable officers of the court (and judges) who both know and comprehend the law and are capable of interpreting it intelligently for the benefit of the entire society.

If anything concerns me about the state of our republic it is the present condition of our legal system and the people (kangaroos?) running it. No one on the US legal system seems to know or care that what they are doing is supposed to be beneficial to our country. Letting mass murderers bent on slaughtering for al-lah go free just doesn't quite cut it.
    • Slight difference there; the Army was covering up its own faulty policies that kept those who knew Hasan was a threat from reporting him as such; these are outsiders, and don't have the same "face" saving connotation for the military to cover up. Still, the PC attitudes that kept officers who knew Hasan was a threat from reporting him for some years prior to his act, do cause some degree of concern, and raise the question: Does the Army even know who the enemy is?
    • That can't happen if the juries aren't permitted to hear the testimonies of key witnesses, as in this case.
  • I don't think that information would be good for your blood pressure, Twana...
  • Never, in ANY nation's history have military prisoners who are to be tried for their crimes been tried in civilian courts, because that's simply NOT where such crimes should be tried! These men committed acts of military aggression against our nation and should be tried by that standard NOT civilian rules!
