Constitutional Emergency

One of the most discussed and ignored question I’ve read on the groups I’ve joined is what is next? Should we form a third party? Some say join the minority party AKA the GOP along with a few other suggestions. I’ve been thinking about it and here are my 2 cents or is it only worth 1 cent now (inflation is a b*$ch).

First form a third party.

The Benefits: we could start from scratch with a foundation that is sound and free of progressive/moderates that now poison the traditional party of conservatism the GOP and the negative reputation that party has developed with the body politic that makes up both the voting minority in this country and the ignorant majority.

The Detriments: what modern (1945-2009) third party has yet been successful? Lack of name recognition, lack of respect from any of the major media formats (Print, Big Three TV networks, Cable Networks and to a great extent the Internet and Radio). This lack of respect and name recognition makes raising money to pay for even local campaigns difficult. No one takes a third party seriously.

Suggestions to overcome Detriments: Organize and start small and focus on one town/city/county or in RI case the whole state. Put all our effort into these local elections and ignore the national races (Senate, House of Representatives, President ect.) and the state wide executive positions (Governor, Treasurer, AG ect.). Gain power in these locations and establish a reputation. I think the biggest problem the Libertarians have is they are to disorganized and trying to do to much with to little. Pick and win our fights.

Second join the GOP.

The Benefits: Well established name recognition and historical track record of conservatism and historical figures to emulate (Lincoln, Reagan). Access to campaign donor lists ($$$$$$).

The Detriments: Well established name recognition and historical track record of backsliding on conservative principles just to be “liked” by the media and pander to the uniformed electorate. Media bias and successful progressive campaigns to label party as sudo-facist. Just as many of us dislike the GOP as we do the Democratic Party.

Suggestions to overcome Detriments: Take over the GOP using the same suggestions for overcoming the detriments to forming a third party. Take over the town parties first and the state and national will fallow. Start small and take control of the GOP by moving out Progressive and failed old guard career politicians.

Third form a Political Action Comity (PAC) or a standard 527 Group. Some of the groups have already decided to make this transition. Mike of Gods Angels of Freedom also recommended this at least once at the 13 May meeting in Charles Town.

The Benefits: Allows individuals to select specific issues to support based on the groups they choose to join. Each group selects an individual issue or group of similar issues to champion. This would prevent infighting and be an example of voting with our money and memberships in specific groups.

The Detriments: Lack of focus and unity of force. The potential arises that we become disunited and brake into factions. History has shone that movements that are disunited and splintered fail for lack of momentum.

Suggestions to Overcome Detriments: Organized one overall PAC or 527 to act as a unifying umbrella organizations we can all fall under. Then as Mike of Gods Angels of Freedom suggested organize one group for each issue that matters to our movement. The web site for the umbrella organization would have the links to each sub issue group. In this way we would all chose to join the sub groups we wish too.

I would further suggest that the umbrella group set up a mechanism by using the sub groups as the issue experts to rate each candidate in each race base on that candidate’s support of opposition to our movement. Each sub issue group would also be responsible to educating the remainder of the movement on their particular issue. In this way no single person or group would have the reasonability to research every issue. This specialization will improve the quality of information. Then the top five educational pieces from each sub group would be published on the umbrella site. Meetings and protest would be coordinated and scheduled by the umbrella site.

I don’t have all the answers just suggestions. What does every one else think and please publish your thoughts and send them to me and your organizations leaders.

As like some of the others,,just my 2 cents,,I honestly believe the GOP should stay the GOP however,,there are so many issues that need to be address that I believe this issue mainly affects our outcome,,we do need to makes lists or what needs to be done,,and have people join what they deem they want to defend,,and join it and put your all into it,,right now,,its like everyone is just for lack of a better word,,running in circles because there are so many diff issues that are so important to our Country right now,and when ones isn't focused,,we get no where,,
Also,,it is absolutely IMPARATIVE ,,that EVERYONE know their Reps voting records!,,if they are not standing up for us,,then it's time to BOOT'EM OUT!,,vote more Rep's in office!,,get rid of these RINO'S and the Liberals,,and we absolutely have to help support our candidates ,,it is a must!,,as we've seen in this late FIASCO,,MONEY bought it all!!,,
'well' along with plenty' of fraud,,but we have to figure out how to make these lists of the important issues and get people involved in making them happen,,for instance,,I for one ,,believe one of the MAIN things that needs to be done is NEW laws on how people vote!!,,more restrictions,,and try to find 'one' way of voting for every single state in the US,,and appoint law enforcement,,or someone that can be 'trusted' to be at these polls and make it mandatory that NOBODY ,and i mean NOBODY votes without a valid drivers license or ID,,if their name and their personal information does not match up with their registration on the book, they DO NOT GET TO VOTE PERIOD!,,no exceptions!,,the FRAUD must stop!!!,,'this is one subject that i am very passionate about,,if we cannot stop this FRAUD ,,we will NEVER get anywhere no matter if we stay the GOP or go to a 3rd party ,,it won't matter,,and every and ANY candidate for any position in POLITICS from Congressman,,,Speaker of the House,,HLS,,POTUS ,,anything with politics,,have a strengent background check!!,,for taxes,,for arrests ,,etc,we have got to get rid of these CORRUPT idiots we have in there that are trying their damnedest to take our Constitutional rights away from us!
I think the third party is already forming as people learn more of the Constitution and become Constitutional Conservatives; and the inflation you mention mostly as a result from the deviation from the mandated currency standard. I assure you, seeds are already planted in the minds of men and women in their 20's and 30's who are raising children and beholden to false financial masters just as many of you were before you had more time to reflect just as your parents worried if you were equiped to hold the future, and some of you are now grandparents while your kids often scrape by as we/you/they are stripped bare financially. What do we give our descendants before we ask them what they should give us and the future? Despite how valiant your efforts, could we have fought our wars in the past without soldiers on paychecks with full bellies and family cared for? This is not implication, since we are all in this life boat full of holes together. I'm floating along making the same mistakes as generations before.

Frankly when are we going to make things happen and stop talking to death the same issues that our grandfathers recognized as realities; not to down play the good points you bring up. Without US, politicians cannot do what they do, yet we are disorganized, not economically empowered, fragmented, and frankly a bit of a prickly cactus too handle because this hits home with so many of us, as with me. Yet we are in essence funding our own demise.

A Republican brought us the Federal Reserve Act of 1913 and Democrat FDR really drove it home along with Sam Rayburn from my home county in Texas. As humans we are so complex and analytical and we're trying to reinvent something that has already been perfected, and that's no parties and strict adherence to the Constitution so you can actually have some self-actualization in your life without having to deal with these issues that frankly should have been dealt with on your behalf. Here is the paradigm, the Republicans and Democrats are not the answer. I cite history when I say no political party is the answer. It is single men and women looking inward en mass to make change in their world. We're being strangled by the very noose that we pay for, and private and international interest is destroying the pre-1980 U.S. way of life. I'll leave you with an excerpt from George Washington's Farewell Address:

"I have already intimated to you the danger of parties in the State, with particular reference to the founding of them on geographical discriminations. Let me now take a more comprehensive view, and warn you in the most solemn manner against the baneful effects of the spirit of party generally.

This spirit, unfortunately, is inseparable from our nature, having its root in the strongest passions of the human mind. It exists under different shapes in all governments, more or less stifled, controlled, or repressed; but, in those of the popular form, it is seen in its greatest rankness, and is truly their worst enemy.

The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries which result gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of public liberty.

Without looking forward to an extremity of this kind (which nevertheless ought not to be entirely out of sight), the common and continual mischiefs of the spirit of party are sufficient to make it the interest and duty of a wise people to discourage and restrain it.

It serves always to distract the public councils and enfeeble the public administration. It agitates the community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms, kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasionally riot and insurrection. It opens the door to foreign influence and corruption, which finds a facilitated access to the government itself through the channels of party passions. Thus the policy and the will of one country are subjected to the policy and will of another.

There is an opinion that parties in free countries are useful checks upon the administration of the government and serve to keep alive the spirit of liberty. This within certain limits is probably true; and in governments of a monarchical cast, patriotism may look with indulgence, if not with favor, upon the spirit of party. But in those of the popular character, in governments purely elective, it is a spirit not to be encouraged. From their natural tendency, it is certain there will always be enough of that spirit for every salutary purpose. And there being constant danger of excess, the effort ought to be by force of public opinion, to mitigate and assuage it. A fire not to be quenched, it demands a uniform vigilance to prevent its bursting into a flame, lest, instead of warming, it should consume."

Harry Riley stated:

The 912 movement is another tangible effort......we need to raise a "massed force" before anything will be done...millions of patriots ready to put "boots on the ground". The 912 March on Washington will be our calling card.......will it be with a whimper, or with the roar of millions of patriots that send a clear message that the socialist/fascist/communist slippery slope must be reversed.......

We Surround Rochester has close to 400 members now and they helped Erik Anderson and I in the planning and the execution of the Tax Day Rochester NY Tea Party and we had over 1500 people rally, then take to the streets of Downtown. We shutdown the Four Corners intersection of Main and State Streets for close to 20 minutes! The chants of "Vote Them Out!" echoed up and down Main St.! Not in my life did I expect such a turnout, but people really are concerned as we really do care about the direction our Nation is headed!

Right now, as I'm writing this, Christian Catholic Patriots are at Notre Dame, protesting the hypocrisy of a pro-death President being the keynote speaker at a Roman Catholic University! Alan Keyes has already been arrested..

Many more people are laying their lives on the line at Notre Dame and have been arrested, including Randall Terry.

People are demonstrating in events across the country. Our Rochester group is planning a trip to Albany with all the other Tea Party groups across the state to protest high taxation and corrupt goverment at the New York State Capital. We're also planning for Washington DC on 9/12 and it would be great if hundreds of thousands of Patriots surround the White House and Capital in a show of disapproval, rejecting the socialism that Obama and the Democratic Socialists are trying to shove down our throats!

It's hard to tell whether all of our actions will make a difference, but I think they will. Although things seem gloomy at the moment, I'm optimistic that if we at the grassroots level keep the momentum going, we can turn the tide and restore our Constitutional Republic!

I don't know if I am in the minority here, but it seems there is already a third party that aligns with the needs of individuals seeking relief from state oppression. The Libertarian Party is well established. Why reinvent the wheel? The Republicrats are not going to change their spots. They both consider us property. The Libertarian platform is detailed at http://www.lp.org/platform. I think that anyone concerned about issues that have brought them here will align with most of what the Party stands for. Certainly a lot more than the Republicrats. A groundswell of support for an established Party will create a true multi-party system. REAL opposition in the Congress will move the government back towards sanity simply by having to deal with elected Libertarians.
I tried a longer comment, but it got lost lost somewhere.
In order for a Third Party to work we have to have the majority of Third Parties join together plus the unhappy Republicians, Independents, and Democrats.
There are too many splinter groups that react to one cause. Therfore, we go with the Constitution, then list a core number of items we stand for, and do not take any position on those many divisive issues not covered by the Constitution.
Now identifying those core elements will be difficult, but we must identify them and stick to them and not be swayed to take positions on issues that are better left to independent beliefs.
I will not be bold enough to list them or establish the exact number, but they must be headed by:
1. Follow the Constitution and Bill of Rights as originally wtitten.
2. Less Taxes and Less Government.
In addition, I suggest:
1. Less Welfare, Grants, and Give-A-Way Programs.
2. Never try to occupy another Country; if needed, "Strike hard and get out".
3. Control our Borders.
Our leaders should contact all other parties and invite them to join us in our Americian Party of whatever name.
I will keep this short and see what others think, but we are currently going in all directions which will never work.
You are absolutely on target -- we are going in too many directions -- we must converge -- not diverge! This is evident by the incorrect and overused term "Third Party" -- that is a misnomer -- it should be "Alternative Parties", which by inference means scattered and unfocused! There are third, fourth, fifth, sixth, etc. parties. I love the name Constitution Party -- that's what it's all about -- but Chuck Baldwin was relatively unknown and remained that way. The Libertarian Party had another old school self-serving candidate, and I watched some of their convention -- IMHO they did not come across as credible -- too many kooks looking for their 15 minutes of fame! To me, like it or not, the size and money are already present with both major parties -- we must retake the Republican Party and remove the panderers! An earlier poster said something to the effect that 95% need to be removed -- IMHO that poster was being way too kind.........
Lonnie I like your ideas, but we must consider honor, respect and responsibility along the way.

The one 'additional item' you suggest... If and when we must go to war, we must absolutely consider and respect the civilian population, just as we did in S. Korea, Japan and W. Germany. To "strike hard and get out" is surely the best strategy, but we must also clean up our mess and leave the civilian infrastructure with the ability to rebuild, just as we are doing in Iraq.

Otherwise, you have my total support.

Although as I stated earlier I have not seen much accomplished by 3rd parties. However, if we selectively invited repubs that meet our criteria for conservative, constitutionalist candidates and asked them to shift their banner to the Constitutional Party, and left centrist GOP candidates were they are, perhaps the Republicans that shifted to the new party would be able to bring their % of monies from the GOP cofers. I doubt it works that way, but I thought that I would throw it out there. Again, not sure that is the right direction either, just a thought. The one thing I am sure of, is bringing all conservative groups together under one "banner".
I have advocated this idea for a good deal of time but there is one splinter of a third party the libetarin party and it is gaining ground.
Darrell
Here's my pennies worth---
Vote out everyone who voted for TARP, Stimulus , et.al.in 2010
Tune into GOPUSA web site. It's the conservative arm of the republican party. The democratic party has an indescribable, severe stench attached. Republican party has outhouse fumes. BUT, there are good republicans, Palin, Paul, Jindl...more.
Attend town hall meets. Ask new candidates if they would support the 10th amendment, the second amendment, etc.,DO NOT ASK WHAT THEY INTEND TO DO FOR YOUR COMMUNITY OR STATE UNLESS IT'S PAYBACK FEDERAL FUNDS. FED FUNDS come with ropes long enough to strangle states rights!!
With Jeb and his Look, Listen and Learn tour (teamed up with Romney) I feel like he is teaching me how to cross the street. This is insulting as hell! JEB is "ONE OF THEM" Talk about a nanny!!!
If the republican party remains, I suggest calling it the Constitutional Conservative Club, but register republican and destroy the good ole boy system from within.
I'm just sayin'
A 3rd party would be disastrous (as history has shown) to the Constitutionalists and Conservatives. No, no, no! We need to get focused on our game plan and begin preparing for 2010, when we can restore balance to our government!!
Ron; The oligarchy is too entrenched, their candidates are too well aclimated to the bait and switch that has resulted in the repeated hijacking of sound principles only to have them "fail" when it was time for rubber to hit the road. The only way to send a clear message to Washington and the voters is to support the ascendency of the party that has for thirty-plus years been advocating for the very principles that Green 2's proposal advocates. We must create a watershed event in American Politics by making a decisive break with the traditional party affiliations. The Republicrats must be marginalized and shamed in the public consciousness. By selectively voting for candidates who give lip service to the restoration of a Constitutional Republic, but are members of a traditional party of oppression, we will only sew confusion in the electorate. Confusion is the native environment for demagogues and tyrants. Let's make a clean break by supporting the Libertarians.
