Governor Rick Perry..............Why?
How did Governor Rick Perry become the top pick of the GOP candidates for president?
I’m trying to grasp the tangible evidence that catapulted Governor Perry over every other GOP presidential candidate. He was rated by several polls near the top of the GOP candidate list before he even made his formal candidacy announcement. Once he announced, if you believe the media, the GOP candidate to oppose Obama had been selected.
He’s not the only Governor in the race…what is it? My gut impression is that Perry has an excellent publicity apparatus that has flooded the media with ”Rick is great” slogans, not to mention his democrat background. Frankly, my observation of his appearance in two candidate debates, based on performance and substance, leaves me with less than a favorable impression.
Given, some candidates have more favorable “stage presence” than others…surely Perry’s stage presence provides much room for improvement. He is slow on his feet, searches for words, seems uneasy, and awkward in his answers. Occasionally I have the urge to reach down his throat and pull some words out…
So, being the smooth, articulate Gingrich, Bachmann, Cain, Romney, Santorum, perhaps others, Governor Perry is not. However, the method of message delivery doesn’t necessarily count a candidate out…Senator McCain proved that. He couldn’t hit his butt with both hands on the stage.
Then how about substance? Has Governor Perry demonstrated substitutive justification that supports his top of the GOP candidate pile? I have heard him speak and others seem to verify that job creation in Texas accounts for a majority of the employment created in the U.S. over the last two years. Other than jobs, nothing else of significance has surfaced to give one a “tingle down the leg”, in fact, Governor Huntsman claims himself as the job king. Ron Paul says Perry has put Texas in debt, raised taxes and Perry hasn’t refuted Paul. Perry has also taken serious hits on his support for tuition assistance for illegal aliens, his answer for the illegal alien border problem, and the effort to force a questionable inoculation for 11-12 year old girls against cervical cancer without a “parental opt-in”.
Perry’s background hasn’t even been touched yet. There is considerable fodder that should raise serious questions as to his conservative credentials. He should be required to explain his democrat background, international involvements, etc. He may provide a satisfactory answer, but it hasn’t been asked yet.
A point here. Are we going to allow the media to select the candidate to oppose Obama by pushing other credible, qualified candidates into the background while focusing on the two the media desires? We allowed the 2008 GOP presidential candidate to be selected by the media and the political apparatus. As Governor Palin says, “how’s that working out for ya?”
Are we about to select another “McCain” to oppose Obama? We all know Obama made McCain look like the ignoramus he really is…the most valid evidence of the “peter principle” one could imagine. Will we repeat the same error hoping for a better outcome?
Let’s get the strongest candidate that will carry the constitution, bill of rights, and Founding Father principles into the White House…maybe it will be Rick Perry but I’m not sold yet.
I am sold on the courage, strength, moral clarity, solid credentials of Michele Bachmann. Why? Given everything else, her heart beats for America and it will stop before she betrays her principled constitutional positions. She took both Perry and Romney to the woodshed during the CNN debate, and did so with poise and clarity.
We need Bachmann’s titanium spine and leadership. Is she perfect? Probably not, is anyone?

Hear, hear! As a transplanted Texan, I was appalled when Perry started his announcement party. You have said it well. His record is not good, his entanglements with Spain on the TTC were alarming, the toll road situation is abysmal, the school legislation is abysmal, etc., etc. I would definitely like to see Michele B at the top of the heap, and as has been stated - she needs support to do this.
However, if worse comes to worst, who would be better - Perry or Obama - or would there be any difference?
And - I agree, why is the media picking our candidate?
I want to make a point here early on.............on PFA we can make our case in a civil manner as to candidates we like and those we don't, but taking personal shots at others will not be tolerated. PFA policy remains......one warning is all we issue....
No matter what the thread, it's not a fight with each other...the target in the presidential fight is Barack Obama and all those that support his socialist/communist agenda.
Thanks Harry! I'm still choosing a candidate but for God's sake it isn't Perry or Romney. Powers that be continue to "choose" for us and that must come to a screeching halt. An organization called "Commission on Presidential Debates" (google it) made up of both liberal parties decide for us. Once, I found the connecting lines of those on this commission and how they moved from within political circles, nothing more than a revolving door of liberal, progressive thinkers. Again, both parties.
Can anyone answer this: Who/Why must we have a one world order? How will that benefit the world? Or USA? Who decided this and how is it that this person(s) has sole authority? Michele is a great lady in addition to her, I'll take Ron Paul, Cain or Newt. Has Perry controlled his borders from illegals? His E.O'd Guardisil cancer shot, his relationship with Al Gore and now his silence on guns? Sorry that's three strikes. He's OUT along with liberally rich Romney.
Only the elites see any value in enslaving the masses and taking away any form of freedom. I stand against any form of One World government... as I haven't seen any form of government that worked for the people, starting at the local level. It get worse at the county level, even worse at the state level... unbearable at the federal level... oh .. lets not go further.
This is the same group that believes that if you remove guns from the public, and legalize all forms of drugs, crimes including mrder will be a "thing of the past". Of course they smoke too much of that crack to get that smart.
CONSERVATIVES SHOULD BE WARY OF "SLICK RICK" PERRY!
Perry wasn't always the "gun slinging" Texas cowboy. Long before Perry
created his phony macho image, he was a cheerleader at Texas A&M in
Perry is not now, and never was, all that bright. His college
transcripts are full of C's and D's. He received a "D" in Economics!
A lifelong Democrat, Perry supported Jimmy Carter over Ronald Reagan
in the critical 1980 election.
In 1984, the liberal pretty boy Perry was elected as a Democrat State
Legislator. In 1987 Perry voted for a 5.7 billion dollar tax increase!
In 1988, Perry was Texas campaign manager for Al Gore's presidential
run. Perry then backed super liberal Michael Dukakis in the General
When it became obvious that being a Democrat in conservative Texas was
a career killer, the opportunistic and ambitious Perry switched to the
Republican Party in 1990. The liberal Democrat college cheerleader
cleverly transformed his image into a tough talking, gun slinging
"I intend to vote the same convictions," Perry said. "The only
difference is that there will be an "R" next to my name."
Now Agriculture Commissioner, in 1993 Perry praised Hillary Clinton's
socialized health care scheme, describing it as "most commendable."
At a "border summit" with Mexican President Vicente Fox in 2001, Perry
bragged about increasing Medicaid spending for immigrants in Texas. He
also proposed the possibility of "Bi-National" health insurance:
"Mexican and U.S. sides of the border compose one region, and we must
address health care problems throughout that region. That's why I am
also excited that Texas Secretary of State Henry Cuellar is working on
an initiative that could extend the benefits of telemedicine to
individuals living on the Mexican side of the border. (Full article
Perry spoke before the radical left wing NCLR (National Council of La
Raza). La Raza ("The Race") promotes open borders and welfare for
illegals. Perry told La Raza that he opposes border fences and is
against Arizona's anti-illegal immigration law.
Perry cooperated with the radical Marxist group, ACORN. ACORN is the
same red-shirt group that spawned "community organizer" Barack Obama.
ACORN was under investigation for vote fraud in several states until
Obama came to their rescue.
In 2007, Perry signed an Executive Order mandating that every 6th
grade girl submit to a 3-jab regimen of a vaccine for sexually
transmitted diseases (Gardasil).
Parents were outraged! The drug was developed by Merck, a contributor
to Rick Perry! The tyrannical mandate was later repealed by the Texas
legislature, over Perry's objections!
In 2008, Perry wrote letters to U.S. Congressional leaders in support
of the criminal Wall Street banker bailout. By doing so, Perry ignored
the wishes of the American people and aligned himself with Billionaire
liberals like George Soros and Warren Buffet.
Perry is a Big Government liberal! In 10 years as Governor, he nearly
doubled the size of the Texas budget while tripling its debt! From
2009-2011, Texas has had an increase in state workers of 5.9%, a gain
of nearly 18,000 state jobs!
When it came to opposing the TSA's "porno scanners" and invasive
crotch & breast pat downs, Perry talked a good game. But when the
Texas legislature aimed to courageously confront the airport abuse of
innocent Americans, Perry deliberately stalled and allowed an
anti-groping bill die!
Big Liberal Media is promoting Perry! The elite liberals hype Perry's
candidacy while at the same time "attacking" him just enough to give
him credibility among conservatives. This clever tactic is known as
"sheep dipping" (as in a wolf in sheep's clothing).
"Conservative Cowboy" Perry shows off his boots on Newsweek Magazine.
Rick Perry talks a good game about "States' Rights", but in reality,
he is not a supporter of State's Rights at all! To the contrary, Perry
is a dedicated internationalist who has attended meetings of the
influential Bildeberger Group in Europe. As described in The Drudge
Report, Bildeberger is pro-socialist and anti-national sovereignty.
In order to win Christian votes, Slick Rick shamelessly wears a false
Christianity "on his sleeve". His insincere public prayer spectacles
call to mind a biblical warning from Jesus himself.
"And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for
they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the
streets, that they may be seen of men....when thou prayest, enter into
thy closet and when thou has shut thy door, pray to thy Father."
Perry prays on a Jumbotron!
This is not in anyway intended as a condemnation of public prayer, but
rather as a warning against hypocrites who misuse religion for the
purpose of self promotion.
SLICK RICK PERRY:
Thomas........you state your observations clearly at this point. Let me ask youi.....if Perry is the opponent to Barack Obama, will you vote for Perry?
All's fair in sorting out who the opponent will be but when that opponent is selected I think we must lock arms, stand shoulder to shoulder for the opponent of Barack (the illegal one) Obama.......what say you??
We may as well face that Perry is probably Obamas opposer.
All of this talk about S.S., economy, etc is a lot of hooey.
What is going to happen in this nation is CATASTROPHIC (calamity, natural disaster, possible terror attack, Chinese invasion) We should pray that Perry's state wakes up to GOD with this drought and that he will become a better man.
I can just imagine RUE PAUL running like a baby saying; "ITS ALL OUR FAULT!" the Muslims and the Chinese attacking, so, lets just sit here and take it. Just like Clintoon
If he and Perry were the only two on the ballot, I'd shut my eyes and pray for Divine Guidance. In the end Perry (better the devil we know is eliminated) would get the vote... but ONLY if it was down to two!
From what I have gleaned Perry would be WAYYYY down on my list of who to nominate. It is probably;ly apparent from my other posts that I believe Ron Perry is the best of what we have to choose from as he alone has stood along =g side the Constitution during his recorded political history.
Truth be told (and I'm ready to duck!) I would LOVE to see a Paul/Palin ticket. The Constitution and blatant honesty with a view to making those soulless corporate entities toe the line seem a winning combination.
"Knowledge is, in every country, the surest basis of public happiness."
George Washington, First Annual Message, January 8, 1790
"If it be asked, What is the most sacred duty and the greatest source of our security in a Republic? The answer would be, An inviolable respect for the Constitution and Laws — the first growing out of the last....
A sacred respect for the constitutional law is the vital principle, the sustaining energy of a free government."
Alexander Hamilton, Essay in the American Daily Advertiser, Aug 28, 1794
