Would blacks vote for Obama if he weren't black?

I don't believe black people voted for him only because he was black last time.  That idea was insulting then and still is.  Many black people voted for him to vote against Bush or the war or because of the economy and were happy he was black, but they didn't vote for him only because he is black.  Besides, he doesn't epitomize the true black American with a history in their family of picking cotton and eating scraps from the master's harvest.  The dignity and value of 3rd generation ancestors of slaves is very high and special in the United States.  These men and women aren't stupid.  Oh, there are stupid black people just like stupid anyone else, but for the most part, black people vote for the same reasons any non-black person would vote.  Why are we asking a question like this?

Spot on Ken, but there a large number of tax dollar supported folks who do not have any heritage, let alone the generational slave attachment. Starting in the 60's the "Great Society" made it easier to get hand outs than to keep track of family and the spread of one woman with children of multiple sperm donars. Highest rate of unwed mothers on record.

Ken, did you read the article or just make assumptions based on the title? I do not wish to be insulting to anyone bu I do have an aversion to being politically correct. Have you not heard the people like Morgan Freeman say that that was the exact reason they voted for him? It's not that I would blame them for it, it was the first real chance for them to elect one of their own, as they saw it. Most didn't know what he was about or that he would hurt the black community so much and many still do not. There are those in the black community that are railing against him for various reasons, such as his support of gay marriage and because of obamacare, but there are still large numbers who will vote for him. The truth is the black community votes mostly democrat anyway and the article addresses that basic problem. Read it and watch the video and you may understand a little better.

No I couldn't watch the video because the grandkids broke my earphones and my wife was watching TV.  I've heard Morgan Freeman on the subject.  He's part of the problem.  He has nothing to back up what he says.  It is pure racism on his part.  I will go back and watch the video.  I suspected at the time I wrote it that I should watch it first.

If they didn't vote for him because he's black why did he receive 98% of the black vote.  Unfortunately it isn't the likes of Rev. Bryant, or Allen West, or Herman Cain who hold sway in the black community.  The vast majority of blacks follow Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and their ilk.  Were this still a nation of laws Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and their kindred would be in prison rather than free to cheat on their taxes, commit blackmail, extortion, etc. etc.  However, we are no longer a nation ruled by laws.  We have allowed our nation to become a nation ruled by men and the worst of these has gained access to the White House.  He and his ilk are allowed to run roughshod over the entire nation because our politicians are afraid to stand up to them.  Add to that the fact that anyone who disagrees with him is immediately branded a racist by the media.  You could probably count on one hand the number of members of Congress who are willing to take on the media and their racist labeling.  For the most part our government is a government populated with spineless kowtowing politicians or criminals who are more comfortable with the Jacksons and Sharptons of the world than with the vast majority of honest citizens.  Most blacks, because of the hatred which has been preached to them for the last 150+ years would vote for the devil if he were black.  Also, keep in mind that an overwhelming majority of blacks receive some form of taxpayer dollars and they certainly are not going to bite the hand that feeds them.  And, they know for sure that if the hand that feeds them is black they can rest easy knowing that a black hand is not going to take away any of their benefits.  I would also point out the likes of Charles Rangel a black representative from New York.  He is as crooked and dishonest a thief as you will find in Congress.  However, he never faces any serious opposition in his election efforts because he's black and the blacks will always vote for him and he knows that.  He doesn't give a rat's ass about his constituents and they know that.  But, above all else he's black so they vote for him.  To them it's a stick in whitey's eye.  To see what sort of officials blacks elect one need only go down the roster of the Congressional Black Caucus.  Not an honest person on the list.  The one honest person in the caucus, Allen West, they threw out.  For the most part all of the blacks in the black caucus are of the same ilk as Rangel.  Should anyone wish to brand me a racist because of what I have said here, my response is GO AHEAD.  The truth needs to be told.  I would also add that if one pay close attention to what is being said concern this sort of thing you will find more black racists than you will whites.

Marvin:  I'm intrigued by your comment that the Congressional Black Caucus "threw out" Allen West.  Could you give me a citation in support of that comment.  The obvious question regarding West's membership in the CBC is, of course, why did he join that gang of hyphenated American race baiters in the first place?

Clarence, I don't know about his being thrown out but from what I understand and what I would think, he joined the CBC in order to attempt to bring a different view of things to them in the hopes that they would see who the real enemy of the blacks is, demonrats.
