and copied and pasted the Subject and text below...
If you have a chance, at least try to submit something to your NJ State Representative. If you're using a auto form filler it really does not take that long to "hammer" that list and do all of them.


Subject: Please OPPOSE S1774 New Jersey "One-Gun-A-Month" Gun Rationing Scheme

With this email I would like to request strongly that you OPPOSE bill S1774 the New Jersey “One-Gun-A-Month” Gun Rationing Scheme.

I have read the bill and S1774 does truly does NOTHING to prevent a criminal from obtaining a handgun. S1774 is truly written to limit law
abiding citizens and residents of New Jersey *even more* in buying/obtaining a handgun (read exercising their 2nd Amendment Rights).

Currently there is a process in place in NJ where a person would have to apply for a "Firearms Purchaser IDENTIFICATION CARD". With this "Firearms Purchaser IDENTIFICATION CARD" a person can buy long guns (Shotguns and Rifles).

To buy a handgun a person has to apply for a "Permit to Purchase a Handgun". A "Firearms Purchaser IDENTIFICATION CARD" is required when applying for a "Permit to Purchase a Handgun". For every handgun a person wants to buy a "Permit to Purchase a Handgun" is required. More than one "Permit to Purchase a Handgun" can be applied for at a time.,The permits are valid for 90 days and can be extended for an additional 90 days. The "Permits to Purchase a Handgun" are requested via police departments and although the statutes state that a request should be honored or denied within 30 days in generally it takes much longer than 30 days. (Personal experience is 60 days or 120+ days!!!) However, because the police or superintendent have to issue these permits there already is "control" over how many are issued to any person. I personally doubt very much that when a person would apply for a serious number of "Permits to Purchase a Handgun" it would not set off all bells and whistles!

As of the fact that there is already "state control" over how many handguns a law abiding NJ resident can obtain and that background checks are done every time a NJ resident applies for a one or more "Permit to Purchase a Handgun" S1774 is true overkill and a waste of taxpayers money which in the current economical climate is disgusting. To make matters worse, S1774 does nothing, absolutely nothing to prevent a criminal from obtaining a handgun! It is written to once again encroach the rights of law-abiding citizens. It is not an anti-crime bill, no matter what phrasing has been attached to it, being as it is just so much more political posturing.

If S1774 would *replace* or *remove* the requirement to obtain a "Permit to Purchase a Handgun" and just would require the "Firearms Purchaser IDENTIFICATION CARD" or better just a Drivers License this bill could be an improvement and might be negotiable. But in it's current form it is
truly an assault on the 2nd Amendment rights of law abiding NJ residents and as of that a waste of NJ tax payer money!

I would respectfully remind you that your role is to protect the freedom of your constituents. Liberty is not served by punishing the law abiding many for the misdeeds of criminal few, particularly where yet more laws would have no effect at all on crime, but impinge on the rights of the taxpayers.
