Commander Wong of the American Legion adds his name to the growing list of politicians posing as Veteran leaders.

Penned response by Nick Popaditch

Commander Wong of the American Legion adds his name to the growing list of politicians posing as Veteran leaders. The American Legion he pretends to represent stands for National security, Americanism, youth and children, and Veterans benefits. Cutting TrICARE to pay federal budget shortfalls from Stimulus and Obamacare gets a 0 out of 4. I am a proud Veteran and a member of the American Legion. This does not represent our values.
As Veterans, we are our brother’s keeper. Our active duty brothers and sisters have been fighting over 10 years of this war. TRICARE is one of the promises made by our government to them while they are doing it. They are counting on us to look out for their interests here while they are protecting us overseas. Shame on Mr Wong for putting the interests of those of us here at home above looking out for them. Worst still, he didn’t even get that-just a promise to be called before Veterans’ benefits are cut. That is what happens when you put deals ahead of ideals.
One small consolation for Commander Wong. At least it took him this long before he sold out. The VFW leadership sold out our active duty brothers and sisters back in October on this very same issue.
It is high time, we Veterans stop allowing politicians to drive a wedge between us and the active duty. We are one brotherhood.”

So, where is everybody? This has been up for two days and no one is interested. Hope Nick does better this next election than last time. Too many California liberals out there.

The article says exactly what I have been saying for the last three years.  Where are all the VFW and American Legion Posts?  Why haven't they started actively promoting their displeasure at how the government has continuously taken away their earned and promised benefits?  I belong to two and every time I bring up the subject of starting petition drives or sending a letter campaign to our supposed leaders, the issues get sidestepped like it was the plague.  At what point are the mainstream veterans going to get involved in a pro-active campaign and fight back?  Waiting for someone at the National or state levels to do something is not where it is going to have an impact.  It is only going to have an impact if the local groups start at the bottom and let the momentum carry it forward to those state and national representatives that hold our leadership positions.  It just seems that our present state and national veterans leaders are "no shows" and are not really representing our best interests.

The case was brought against the CIA and the US Department of Defense (DOD) by Judicial Watch, a non-partisan organization that aims to promote transparency, accountability, and integrity within the legal and political spheres, and which operates under the motto: “Because [...]

U.S State Dept. Report Critical of Treatment of Muslims in Spain

The US government released its latest report on religious freedom in Spain.

Prepared by the US State Department, the report is an annual survey of how religious tolerance and freedoms fare in different nations across the world.

“The [Spanish] Constitution and other laws and policies protect religious freedom. However, some local government policies restrict the religious freedom of minority religious groups, including Muslims,” states the document released in Washington on Monday.

It cites instances in some cities where Muslim groups charge that special [...]
