Not sure what we have for seeds. My wife tends to manage those. I take care of corn only :) ...... Last year we planted a lot of corn, cucumbers, tomatoes, peas, beans, bell peppers, cabbage, carrots, potatoes and a lot of lettuce. The tomatoes and bell peppers didn't do well at all. Everything else did fine.

I like your thinking Will.It appears to me you are right on track the way you believe things are and where they are headed.

How are you fixed for Heirloom seeds? O.K.?I have only begun this year to garden using only those seeds. We'll see how that learning process goes.

Well, fortunately for us here in Idaho anything that starts to happen won't start here. We're all off the beaten track and our state has a low population. SHTF will start in the cities long before it comes our way. Not only that, but food gets produced out here. Food shortages won't hit us hard either. I'm sure my wife and I will grow more for canning to make sure there is enough of a stockpile. We have some 200 cans in the pantry now plus enough freeze dried potatoes to last some months. As our sheep reproduce we will have no shortage of lamb to eat also. We will see much more barter going on here in Idaho for sure if things start to go bad in the cities. I expect we'll see riots in the cities from food stamp/welfare recipients before we will start to see any problems in the rural areas. Once those are quelled the govt. will get changed since liberals get disillusioned easily with a liberal govt. that doesn't keep their freebies flowing. I'm going to simply sit back and watch it happen.

Thank you but I think I am O.K. with the amount I have.Last count two years ago was about 800 lbs.Winters are the normal season I make my ingots but this year was so mild I did not get to making any.

Probably be a good idea to buy lead in ingots. I may know someone around here who has 150 lbs of it or so for sale also - cheap.

Good afternoon Will and IC.Another good story. Thanks for the read.TBI's can be VERY difficult to deal with.I hate to see anyone go through that stuff. At least some states have good support for it.

Will:I looked over the antique shotgun I save for parts but it is a No Go.MFG is Meridian Fire Arms Co.Dated 1912.Guess Numrich might be the next best place when you are ready.

I am a little partial myself to the 1911 just don't have one on hand.II had been on the prowl for the 1911 prior to  the Marxist Admin taking control of things here.

IC:My eldest brother only has the option of V.A. for help.He gets along alright but I think he would have done better with private insurance could he have afforded it0.He is currently battling an aneurism that they feel could burst anytime and are not offering surgery as an option.0The wife and I are barely hanging on to private ins.Any more increases in premiums and I'll be heading back to the V.A. also.

Them two daughters down in Ca,can they take pills for being liberals? haha

Will: I think you are well on the right path for just having been in this country for 18 months.Wouldn't it be nice to KNOW you can keep what you have worked so hard to get?

I sure do not see security in much of anything any longer.Maybe lead IS the best investment?

Howdy Guys!

What an interesting life Will! I did 14 yrs on Active Duty in the Air Force, getting out on 31 Mar '88. That was the year Congress didn't give us a pay raise but DOD did and all the branches had to get rid of thousands of Stateside people (AF had to separate 25K). I fell in that group....due to re-enlist in Jul '88...so had to re-enlist or get out in March. I got out with no benefits other than the VA (which I have to pay for now due to my income) on 31 Mar 88 and 3 mths later went to driving long haul for May Trucking (Payette, ID).

I drove about 6 mths for them and quit for the winter. The next summer I got hired by a little company of 20 trucks that ran strictly team driving. That is how I met my husband. We drove for 8 mths when he wanted to be a "cowboy" (ranch hand). He did that for a few months by Dubois, ID but had to go back to driving when the guy's hay crop got hailed out. We drove until the spring of 1991 and then worked on several ranches until 17 & 19 Aug 1996 when he had those Traumatic Brain Injuries.

He has a number of rifles & shotguns which are locked up due to his dementia and will go to his middle daughter as she is conservative and loves guns. His other 2 daughters are in CA and have turned into liberals. Due to his dementia, I have gotten rid of my guns....that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Oh, the grips on my .45 are black mother of pearl made by a retired Marine in Georgia ;)

Comment by Will Smith on March 27, 2013 at 8:48pm

My shotgun is a J.C. Higgins (marketed by Sears back in the day)  Numrich does have the spring for it. I just haven't ordered it yet. My .45 is a Citadel 1911. I have a real soft spot for the 1911. When I was in the navy at 17 years old I used to carry it standing Petty Officer of the Watch. It was the first pistol I was ever taught to shoot. I have a few hundred rounds for it now - enough at least to go out and practice with a few clips periodically as  keep buying more when i can.

As for Shitcargo, all we did was fly to there then left within 2 days. There was NO WAY we would have stayed in that area. We just didn't want our dogs to make more than one flight to get here and it is easier to get out of O'Hare airport  than it is to get out of JFK in NY. Those were the only 2 options for direct flights to the US from Helsinki.

It will take me time to build up to what I consider the minimum I should have and with anything else in life it is a case of available funds.

I don't think I've done all that bad though in 18 months :) I was away from my country for 23 years and since I grew up for 4 years in Europe when I was a kid, that makes a total of 27 years away - just shy of half my life.

It's hard to pay close attention to what's happening here from half way around the planet. Now I'm back though. I swore an oath to the Constitution when I was 17 years old and that oath didn't have an expiration date. After 9/11 (I was in Greece when that happened) I did some volunteer work that 'never happened'. I was travelling the world at the time for work so had opportunity to help.

I had hoped I was coming home finally to work until my retirement in 12 years and then relax. Looks like I may be called upon to fight again instead though to protect my wife, our Constitution and the American dream.

By golly it sounds like you two are doing well there.Especially considering the major change you went through to get here and then see just what this country is all about.Having been a skeptic for so long it has saddened me to watch as the country goes down the wrong path and the"sheeple"just follow along blindly. This country still has a lot to offer if we can turn its direction around.

Some pretty good weapons you are gathering.I believe you have the short and mid-range capacity weapons covered nicely.

To this point I have purchased all my rounds for the .38 special and the .45 auto rim.Though I do have the capacity and several hundred pounds of lead to mold my own if/when that needs to happen.I am trying to keep approximately 1500 rounds minimum for each weapon. Our meager income just can't support ALL the calibers I would like to have the molds for though.

Your .45 must be ACP?Loud an clear on the costs of SKS' having gone through the roof.It doesn't seem like it has been all THAT long when we could buy them for $89.00 all day long.

Are you familiar with Brownell's and Numrich for your gun parts? They do pretty well for most parts though the cost of the Numrich catalog is getting a little out of line.Online purchasing might be the best option now.

Glad to hear you got the heck out of Shitcago anyway.Geez! That dang city(even the state)i flat refuse to set foot in whenever we pass through there. It s my belief that our second amendment is what keeps us free men here and because they are SO ANTI second amendment is WHY I never want ANYTHING to do with that city/state.

I wish I could say we owned this place free and clear but we were racing to see who would end up in a wheel chair first and were(almost)forced to build on a handicapped bedroom and bathroom DOWNSTAIRS a few years back.

It has been a blessing at times.

I think I got ahead of myself here.

Oh! I also load for 12 gauge and .410 .The cost of lead/steel for shotguns has dramatically increased lately so it is out of my range now.I don't know if I could load another 1,000 with the supplies I currently have.Guess I will have to make do.

I DO have a couple parts shotguns. At least ONE is a 12 gauge. If you let me know who the MFG is and the model I'll look and see if I have that spring you are after as I do think I will NOT get this one working. There is an outfit in Spokane called the Gunatorium. They used to sell many, many parts weapons. They went out of business a while back but I was still able to find a phone number on the internet for them.So I can't say for certain what/if they would still sell anything form their home there.Just food for thought.

I will have to pass on the AP but thank you for the offer.I will immediately let you know if/when I spot or hear of a 7.62(reasonably priced preferably).

Obama: ‘Muslims are a Fundamental Part of the American Family’

The United States is not at war with Islam as some extremists claim to justify their violence against the West, President Barack Obama said.

Obama, speaking at the U.S. Defense Department’s National Defense University in Washington, referred to various terrorism threats and how some are fueled by extremists saying Islam is in conflict with the West.

“Most, though not all, of the terrorism we faced is fueled by a common ideology — a belief by some extremists that Islam is in conflict with the [...]

Sweden Burns for the Fifth Straight Night

In Rinkeby a predominantly immigrant district in northern Stockholm, firefighters rushed to put out flames that engulfed six cars parked alongside each other. Five cars were totally gutted, and one sustained more moderate damage, according to an AFP photographer on the scene.

The continued vandalism left local residents irate, with hundreds gathering at the scene to express their frustration.

“People are furious; they think Rinkeby is better than this,” Scanpix photographer Fredrik Sandberg told the TT news agency from the scene.

Three more cars were [...]

Muslim Butchers Known to British Security Services

Two men who slaughtered a soldier in a Woolwich street were known to security services, it emerged today.

One of the men, believed to be Michael Adebolajo, is believed to have been arrested after he went to Somalia to join banned Islamist group al Shabaab.

Eyewitness Jamie France, 29, said that his mother [...]
