SB 207, which gives in state tuition to illegal immigrant students who were in college on or before July 1, 2011, has a hearing before the House Education Committee tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. Please come testify against the bill or call the Committee members (below) to urge them to vote against it. It is my understanding they plan to amend the bill so that it applies to even more illegal immigrant students. These are NOT students who were born in the US, but who were brought over to the US when their parents came illegally. Please call!!
Where: Room 156-C
Indiana State House, 200 W. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46204
When: 8:30 a.m. (Eastern Time) Arrive a few minutes early so you can sign up to testify and find a seat. In this room, you will sit at a table and address the committee. It helps if you write a short statement that can be read in 2-3 minutes. Put your name and contact information on it and make at least one copy for the committee. Tell the committee, respectfully, why you think they should vote against the bill.
Who: Anyone can testify, even illegal aliens! Please join IFIRE members as we tell the committee why they should vote against SB207.

Hello everyone. I'm writing to tell you about SB 177 which was passed out of the IN House Education Committee las... by a unanimous vote. This bill makes veterans jump through all kinds of hoops to qualify for in-state tuition at IN state universities! That is bad enough as it is, but it gets WORSE.
The House Education Committee will soon be considering SB 207, which GIVES in-state tuition to illegal aliens who were enrolled in state institutions on or before July, 2011. No questions asked. If that isn't a slap in the face to veterans, Hoosiers, and Americans in general, I don't know what is. The bill has been assigned to the committee, but hasn't been scheduled yet for hearing. No one is willing to state how many students this bill would apply to, but estimates before the IN Senate Committee on Education and Career Development ranged from a low of 200 to a high of "several thousand" students. This move will cost taxpayers about $20,000 per year per student in lost revenue, meaning even at a low of 200 students, it will cost us $4 Million each year. $6 Million for 300 students. It also has the potential to cost MUCH, MUCH MORE because federal law, 8 U.S.C. § 1623(a), clearly states that a state cannot give in-state tuition to illegal aliens unless the state also makes that rate available to all citizens and nationals. This law was passed so that illegal aliens were not afforded benefits which weren't available to all citizens and nationals.
PLEASE CALL and make your displeasure/anger about this clear to your Representative and others. Toll free numbers for the IN House are:
1-800-382-9841 and 1-800-382-9842
Education Committee Members' contact info. and email arelisted at this link.
Thank you! Oh, and please share this with others in the state and urge them to call.

Comment by Robert P. Garding on March 11, 2012 at 9:56am I think that it is cool the amount of patriotism one sees now-a-days around this nation. I grew up in the 70's when the only thing that seemed to be important was getting us out of Vietnam and free love. America's greatness seemed to vanish in the everyday lexicon of talk during that time. You couldn't drive around and see many American flags flying at residences or people wearing t shirts with American flags on them. Now, is a different story. But now is also different in that our government seems to like our enemies better than they like our own nation. Why is that? Why did they get elected with those feelings? I hope the trend of electing new blood into Government continues, for the sake of a great America.....and her future greatness.

Striking a Deal over Syria at the G8 Summit:
World leaders were close to striking a deal on pushing for peace in Syria at the G8 summit on Tuesday amid conflicting reports that certain leaders clashed on a roadmap to resolve the conflict.
Sources at the Group of 8 conference told Reuters news agency that the leaders disagreed in talks about the nature of a transitional government for Syria.

The Destruction of the Syrian Air Force:
The Syrian Air Force has suffered major losses in the last year, as the aircraft and helicopters were unleashed on rebels (and civilian supporters) and took a beating. Of the 370 usable fixed wing war planes the Syrian Air Force had two years, about half are now out of action because of combat losses or wear and tear. Nearly two-thirds of the 360 helicopters are gone, for the same reasons.
Part of the problem was [...]
