Oklahoma City – The measure banning Sharia law in Oklahoma courts passed by Oklahoma voters in 2010 was shot down by a senate committee Thursday.
That move prompted responses by the bill’s author and the group who filed a lawsuit against it.
State Question 755 banned the consideration of Islamic Sharia law, derived from the Quran, when deciding Oklahoma court cases.
It passed with 70 percent of the vote in November 2010, so then came House Bill 1552, by State Rep. Sally Kern.
That bill passed the Oklahoma House of Representatives on a bipartisan 76-3 vote on its third reading in March 2011.
During a hearing this week, members of the Senate Rules Committee voted 6-9 against the measure.
A lawsuit against the measure was filed soon after by the Council on American-Islamic Relations in federal court because many Muslims felt it was a way to politically bash the group.
A federal judge sided with the [terror-linked] group in November of last year, issuing a preliminary injunction that kept it from becoming law.
On Thursday, Kern said she was shocked by the committee’s failure to pass the bill.
“This measure has broad support in Oklahoma and killing it is a slap in the face to voters who believe foreign law should have no bearing on legal decisions that impact Oklahomans in Oklahoma,” Kern said.

Amen, I am ready to do it. All of the states are having problems such as this, we have rinos in Texas, well they are marxists and the Tea Parties are working to take over the Republican party, but they have so much corruption it is a REAL FIGHT.We have to be alert 24/7, someone has to be looking, watching, reading everything that comes across the internet, and it is a real war we are fighting here in our country;a war of alertness and getting others to speak out.

Back when Vicki Miles-LeGrange made her ruling (called judicial activism), national attorneys (talking heads) surmized that the bill would have passed had it targeted only "foreign law." Specifically naming "Sharia" made it seem unconstitutional (because many people aren't aware that "Sharia" encompasses more than just a Muslim 'religion.') So, wonder how strong a bill focusing upon 'foreign law' rather than naming 'Sharia" law would fare .... perhaps such a bill would pass - and prevent Sharia from being considered in Oklahoma courts. After all, Sharia is a foreign way of life in this country, and the Sharia 'desert' culture (jihads, honor killings, etc) is foreign to this nation. It doesn't matter how many folks become followers of Islam, it remains a foreign entity and law within this country.

Alfie~ Have you noticed lately how the "wording" in a bill is targeted? This, then, sends the attorneys running to search how to best "word" things to get them passed. It's beyond ridiculous at this point. These judges act like they don't have a brain in their heads. I've been following the eligibility ballot challenges & the plaintiffs, the attorneys, & everyone else associated with a filing is sent scampering! That judge in the Georgia case even lied, but it was in chambers & there wasn't much the lawyers could do. I think the courts are just trying to wear us all down. I even read an article that stated that many courtrooms are being shut down across the country, as they prepare for Sharia by 2014!!!
