As you will recall, NRA-ILA has informed you about Senate Bill 6396, legislation that would bring California-style gun-control to the Northwest and ultimately ban many semi-automatic firearms commonly owned by Washingtonians.  SB6396 was heard in the Senate Judiciary Committee but no action was taken. 

YOUR CALLS AND EMAILS ARE WORKING!  It is important that NRA members keep the pressure on their legislators by respectfully urging them to oppose SB6396.

SB 6396 is more far-reaching than it appears on the surface and will absolutely impact a gigantic swath of Washington firearm owners, including concealed pistol license holders, hunters and competitive pistol shooters.  As examples, consider the following restrictions that flow from the provisions of this horrendous piece of gun control legislation:

• Every semiautomatic AND PUMP-ACTION rifle or shotgun that has a detachable magazine and has a pistol grip located rear of the trigger (yes, that is just about all of them) is defined as an “assault weapon” and is banned under SB 6396!
  
  
• If you and your child/children are out in the woods plinking with his or her Ruger 10-22 and there are more than 10 rounds in the magazine, you are a FELON!
  
  
• If you are a Concealed Pistol License holder and your semi-auto self-defense pistol contains more than 10 rounds, you are a FELON!
• The use of firearms defined as “assault weapons” (see first bullet point) are banned for use in hunting!
  
  
• Competitive shooters will be impacted as any semi-auto pistol that has a detachable magazine and is equipped with a muzzle brake or compensator is defined as an “assault weapon!” 
  
  
• If you own a firearm(s) defined as an “assault weapon” on the date this bill becomes law, you can keep it if you are willing to allow your Sheriff to come into your home once every year to ensure you store your firearm(s) appropriately!

Senate Bill 6396 is proof that the gun-ban groups and politicians are not interested in only banning semi-automatic firearms that happen to look like military firearms.  This bill shows where they really want to go with their agenda!  This gun ban scheme will only punish law-abiding citizens and will do nothing to curb crime or keep criminals from obtaining firearms illegally.  This is not only another attack on our Second Amendment rights in Washington State, but an attack on your Fourth Amendment right against unreasonable searches of your home!

The circumstances you point out reinforce a conclusion I've reached: history records, in every era and every culture... whether within families, business, or government, a simple division between oppressors and liberators. Some want to keep their thumb on other people's lives (or a boot on their throat!) others choose to empower people to reach their own potential, accept personal responsibility and exercise God-given freedoms.

We see state senators promoting SB 6396 to strip the law-abiding of gun rights (with no evident effect on crime), we read your report that the Lakewood "powers that be" are oppressors in their realm, and clearly the individual who acted out in shooting the four police officers (if the charges are accurate), he with the extensive criminal history, was a habitual oppressor in his own right as well.

The greatest Oppressor of all is, of course, Satan. He who entices our baser instincts, encourages our worst behavior and tells us we can best get ahead by stepping on others - that we just need look out for #1. American history is filled with tales of "Robber Barons"; rapacious "Captains of Industry"; power-hungry, greedy politicians; yes, even those parents, or teachers in our own neighborhoods who abuse their positions of authority. Don't we all, at times try to dominate and control others around us... "by hook, or crook?"

The alternative is that great quest for Liberty... freedom from oppression, reaching our full potential and becoming the people God intended us to be. Therefore He granted us liberty for the ultimate "pursuit of happiness." God cares enough for us that he blessed us with liberty - paid for by the blood of heroes throughout human history! We most exemplify liberty when we encourage and build others up, defend the weaker among us and stand valiantly for justice even at great personal cost, pursuing those freedoms passed down to us by our Forefathers!

Of course, we all recognize oppression, because we've all experienced various forms throughout our own lives... we've seen it in our families, in school, in jobs we've held, or in interactions with authorities at various levels. We ourselves have oppressed, or attempted to oppress, from our siblings, or that neighborhood kid we tormented; to the parent we sassed and disobeyed; to the co-worker, or boss we disrespected and undermined (overtly, or covertly!)

Oppression's alter-ego is "sin." And we've all experienced it, both as oppressed and oppressor. But the Author of Liberty is not satisfied to simply let us spiral into a smoking hole-in-the-ground and leaving Satan drag the entire planet into unfettered tyranny. He granted us liberty and provided the greatest Hero's blood to guarantee our full and final liberation - Jesus died on that cross to challenge Satan's greatest oppression, Death, when He walked out of that tomb alive! The "Conqueror of Death," being God in the flesh, paid the debt of our individual sins and freed us from the penalty for all oppression we have exercised in our lives! He paid a debt He didn't owe, to cover a debt we couldn't possibly have paid on our own!

Any victory achieved in the struggle against our current oppressors is only to be gained in the same manner our Founding Father's recognized and acknowledged:

Will these current Washington state oppressors enforce a gun-ban via SB 6396? They may pass whatever injunctions they wish but cannot deny us the means of defending life unless we surrender them! With God as witness, many of us have sworn to "defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic." By this "line in the sand" may we declare no surrender, no retreat!

Will the same oppressors who cannot abide capital punishment for rape, or murder of innocents now decide that we, the free citizens refusing to relinquish God-given rights, need to be executed for standing on the Constitution? Or would they prefer incarcerating and supporting tens of millions, rather than permitting us historic rights? Whatever the cost of liberty, so be it!

Thank you for your hotline message today regarding assault weapons. I do not agree with these bills, and will be voting no should they come to the House floor.

The Senate version, SB 6396 was given a public hearing this week. It is very doubtful it will move further through the system; however I am keeping a close watch on it and any other bills which would infringe on your second amendment rights.

... in your note, I will just add that there is a big effect on crime. According to statistics any ban on any weapons is INCREASING disproportionally crime rate using guns. The line of the graph just goes through the roof, figuratively speaking.

Of Course this IS COMPLETE COMMUNISM. It is aparent that our Government is Doing everything in its Deceptive Power to take our Guns from us. Right now they are trying everything they can to do it without actually having to kick down our doors and do it personally. Actions speak louder then words and yes I hear them. It seems like every other week they come up with something new against gun ownership or just make it against the law to own a gun because we J-walked, or chewed gum in a Court house, or preadventure we tear of the tag on the OLD Mattress(Do Not Remove Under Penelaty Of Law).
It is Obvious what they want, They want our Constitution out of the way. They purposely keep knawling away at our rights to see what they can get away with. So we give them so space for argument sake and sincerity, they take it and demand more and more. Now If you spank your kids they will take your guns away. Our Government is a ACCUSER, that's what they do.
My one BIG question is: When is this Garbage going to end??? I assume it won't end untill they kill and get blood from us.

We need to take advantage of the firestorm they have started by not wait till November to remove these evil and corrupt people from office. Its time to start a State Wide recall.

Agree completely, John... How do we go about that and on what specific grounds? Also, can we ask for a recall for the 4 bozos from some other district that proposed SB 6396? My Senator is Don Benton and he's pretty good... stands for what we do.

Seems like what we need is more people to watch Glen Beck and learn about the origins of Progressive movement!

I have a big heart and I think I have good ideas, but I need help and understanding on who to write to in Government, and or who to call.
One of the first things I want to remind Congress about is (Public Law 97-280 96 STAT 1211 97th Congress) This law confesses The Bible to Be The Word Of God, and in doing so they have Openly confessed it to be Higher then Them because It is how our Government was constructed and how people ran their office.
The Confession of this law by Congress makes them subject to Obey all God's Laws Concerning a Nation, and how to Rightously run it.
I also think We The People need to point out all the areas that they seem to be Destroying the Constitution by making laws against it. It should be a manditory law that ALL Sherriff's, Police, and local and State, and Federal Officials have a 90 day study in the Constitution before being allowed in office. We have too many people in Government that don't even know the Constitution that they are supposed to be upholding. Therefore it is easy for them to obey orders against it without question.
All I can think about lately is The Government knows what they are about to do, I believe they are soon going to declare Martial Law when our money fails and they don't want people to have guns at this point. So they are on a tight schedule to disarm us through Bogus and Dum laws and the rest they will deal with by force, not just by American Authority's, but by World Authoritys. Such as U.N., Interpole, Canada, and Mexican Forces.
I could be wrong but we will see. They keep stabbing and prying and bitterly jabbing at gun laws. I'm sick of it. They keep fabricating more and more excuses to disarm us. It's obvious that they alone are the only one that want to be able to own guns and it's evil because there is only one reason why you would disarm the public, and that's for controll and unchecked abuse.

Your right on the mark, we need to get more people involved and start building a web-site and war chest $ buys the legal help and news papers. The Gun issue has set the woods on fire here the people I have talked to are ready for a fight and looking for someone to fight with over this gun issue. The Progressives made a big mistake pushing gun control in an election year.
