Driving from Apopka (Orlando), Fl.

I will be driving from Apopka, Fl., leaving somewhere between May 15-18, and have room for a couple riders. I will have camping gear with me (for one), and I probably will be camping at Greenbelt Park in Md., 12 miles from Washington, D.C.; I have a senior pass to National parks that includes this facility.
I plan on staying in D.C. at least until the end of May.
ALL CAMPERS need to be aware there is currently a serious tick problem in the area, so be advised and prepared!
I can be reached at 407-902-8616.

TRI-COUNTY TEA PARTY TRIP TO DC
BUS TO ATTEND THE WASHINGTON SPRING MAY 16, 2014

Departing Thursday, May 15th – Returning Saturday, May 17th, 2014

The bus will depart from the Wal-Mart Parking Lot in Summerfield (on 441/27), Thursday May 15th very early, and make one stop in Ocala for Ocala Tea Party Members.

The bus will take us to our Best Western Hotel (just outside of DC).  The day of the event, the bus will take us to the Metro and from there we will go directly to the rally.

The bus cost per person is $150.00 which also includes a T-Shirt to wear the day of the event so we can identify each other.  Bus fare needs to be paid in full upon reservation.

The hotel rooms are to be made by each individual(s).  The cost of the room for 2 days is $200. 00.  If anyone wants to share rooms with 2, 3 or 4 people per room, that’s fine, but you’ll need to coordinate that upon making your reservation, i.e 2 to a room is $100.00 per person, and 4 to a room is only $50.00 per person.
You can make your hotel reservation by calling the hotel direct at 703/922-6100.  Be sure to tell them you’re part of a room block.  No extra charge for up to 4 people per room.  Reservations are based on a first come, first serve basis.  Once the bus is filled, we have a second in reserve as well as more rooms, but nothing is guaranteed.

There is a new logistics map for Rally points, the new map will have rally points that are easy to access by metro/car/foot, keeping you away from "sensitive" targets and construction zones. I would heavily suggest that you use our Metro (subway) into the National Mall. Parking is limited and they tow at 4pm daily due to traffic.

On our new map, you will see the various Metro stops, the best stop for the Mall is the Smithsonian stop on the Mall. We as team Virginia/DC will be using the Arlington Cemetery stop and will be walking over the Memorial Bridge into the National Mall.

Our Metro system is easy to use, but it is not easy the first time using our ticket machines. I strongly urge all of you to pre purchase your Smartrip cards in advance, either online or in person at many CVS stores in our area. Purchasing ahead of time will save you a ton of aggravation, trust me.

Lastly, if you are planning to lodge in the DC area, please stay in Virginia. The crime rates is much lower, Virginia houses the bulk of our tourists with ease, closer proximity to the Mall and cheaper. Hotels that are within 5 miles of a Metro stop, will have free shuttle service.

If you have any questions about anything DC, please go to our lodgings page or team Virginia page, the links provided our done so by people that have lived in DC for over 30 years each. DO NOT THINK BECAUSE YOU CAME TO DC ONCE OR USED TO WORK HERE FIVE YEARS AGO MAKES YOU A PRO ON THIS AREA! As of less than two years ago, our highway system has changed drastically and our metro system has also changed quite a bit in Virginia.

Regards,

RT

Who is going up to DC for OAS from CF, is there a caravan being organized? Cars, trucks motorhomes etc? Thinking of taking my MH to VA, just across the river. State park, rv park? Who's interested? Strength in numbers!
