Ok, so I have been interviewing candidates for the next election.... I found a strong conservative libertarian, and he knows other libertarians running in other states.  I interviewed him and gave him the Resolution to sign.  He signed it and I want you all to take a look at his website.  This guy wants Gov't reform!!!  He is running against Lamar Alexander in TN...  Let’s get with this man and start making changes!!http://johndkingforussenate.com/

Is there a Tea party in Jefferson county? If not, could I go to the Sevierville one?

Sevier Tea Party

Mar 1 (1 day ago)
to SAM, bcc: me
Members,

You're receiving the notice for our March meeting early because we need your help getting the word out.
State Rep. Joe Carr will be our guest speaker this month. He is challenging Lamar Alexander for his senate seat. We're not just asking that you attend this important meeting. We're asking that you invite your friends and neighbors, too.

This is an important race. Lamar is documented to vote with Obama's liberal / socialist agenda 62% of the time. While the SCTP has yet to endorse any candidate, we can say that if we are to have any hope of sending Lamar home, we need as many Sevier County residents to hear his challenger, and be encouraged to vote in the mid-term elections.

You and your guests can hear Rep Carr March 20th, 6:30 at the Sevier County Courthouse (3rd floor). We'll make sure there will be time for a question and answer session too.

 In Liberty,

Steve Osborn

SCTP Chairman

These were the answers to the previous questions I sent Hartley: What is the purpose of civil government?
Civil government is an arm of the state other than its military that enforces its laws. The purpose, it seems would be to enforce the laws enacted by the governing people of this state.
Where does law come from?
Law or laws come from elected officials and judges.
What is an oath?
An oath is a contract made with ones words that binds them to that contract through their own admission.

What happens to you if you break your oath?
You might lose credibility, your job, your standing in the community or you might even be murdered depending on what country or laws govern the punishment of such an oath.

Do you believe that it is your job to “bring home the bacon” to your district?
You better believe it. I believe the Government is a huge "piece of pie" and it is the responsibility for every single Representative and Senator to do as much good for the people of their district. If this includes bringing home the : bacon" or in the form of bringing jobs or creating breaks for companies to bring their factories to the district. Basically the answer is yes, I will do what I can to enhance the lives of the people I represent.

Do you think it is more important to introduce and pass legislation, or to work to repeal legislation that has been passed by your predecessors?

Introducing legislation or entering a bill to the floor of the House or Senate is usually because you have been prompted by someone to do so or you felt the need that a law should be introduced to make something better. Now would I feel it incumbent upon me to repeal legislation that has become a law that was introduced by my predecessor?

Let me answer that by saying, if the legislation was good and the people, the majority of the people felt it was a good law, then no. On the other hand if the law was punitive or just a bad law, and the majority of the people concurred then absolutely, I would definitely do what I could to repeal it.

I could include many laws that I find offensive and just plain stupid but I don't have that much time and I believe you don't either. Suffice it to say that if elected to this district, I will always be open to the people if they want to bring to my attention a law that is just a nuisance.

I don't consider that being a servant to the people is a free ticket to do what ever I want, on the contrary, I believe that the responsibility of any servant is to serve and represent the people's best interests. If you can't make the lives and district better than before then why even try to get elected.

I hope these explanations give you a better insight into how to vote. If you have additional questions please feel free to send them to me, I will answer as honestly as I can without giving you or anyone a canned answer. I feel honesty is always the best answer and the easiest to remember. I think people deserve a servant who is honest enough to speak the truth every single time and not worry about if its popular or if it will get you elected.

Sincerely yours,
Dan

email reply continued : The only thing that can make us safe is a better culture, one in which people care about each other, and share with each other, and no one gets left behind, and no one wants to shoot us. You don't shoot your friends, and you don't try to order your friends around. Why can't we all be friends? Think about what that would entail. Jesus said to love your neighbor, and even to love your enemy. Of course, that's going to be much harder to accomplish than more gun registration or less gun registration. But it's the only really important goal. Most people in the USA worship a god who said, in unambiguous terms, "thou shalt not kill." In view of that, I don't understand why the USA has such a big military force, nor why so many religious people own guns. Personally, I have never owned a gun; I have never even touched a gun. And I'd like it to stay that way. I don't want to take away people's guns. I'm hoping that we can change our culture and our government, so that people won't feel any need for guns. I don't know how we'll get there.if Jesus came back today, I don't think he would get crucified again -- no, I think he would get shot. John and Robert Kennedy got shot. Martin Luther King got shot. John Lennon got shot. All by guns. If I become effective enough in expressing my beliefs, perhaps someday I'll get shot too. No, really I don't think I'll ever be comparable to the Kennedys or King or Lennon. But all I can do is to keep saying what I have seen, and hope that a few people will hear me.Third, laws and oaths are only as good as the people who stand behind them. Every president and every member of congress takes an oath to uphold the constitution, when he enters office. Every soldier takes an oath to uphold the constitution, when he puts on a uniform. But how many have honored that oath? Far too few. Recent wars have all been illegal. And the constitution includes the requirement to honor international treaties, and one of those treaties requires soldiers to report war crimes, and not commit war crimes, not even when ordered to by their commanding officers. Chelsea Manning reported war crimes and was sentenced to 35 years in prison. She is the one who obeyed her oath. All the people around her -- all the military and congressmen and president -- violated their oath.So I don't care much for oaths. How do you know that MY word is worth anything? Well, ultimately, you don't. But I'm not accepting monetary campaign donations from anyone, so who would I sell out to? In that respect, I think I'm more trustworthy than most other political candidates you'll ever encounter. I'm also less likely to get elected than most other political candidates you'll ever encounter. If I get elected, it won't be by the usual means. The only way I can possibly get elected is if public awareness increases so enormously that getting elected to the Senate won't matter much anyway. And I'm not really interested in getting elected. I'm really interested in trying to raise awareness.Eric Schechte
