Outrage of the morning

Posted on March 19, 2009 at 12:48pm 4 Comments

A posting from my Marine web site.

The outrage of the morning: the Department of the Navy has given Congressman John Murtha a “Distinguished Service” award. Yes, that’s the same John Murtha who accused the Haditha Marines of being murderers without evidence, before their trial, then refused to apologize when all charges against them were dropped.

Here’s a petition to try to reverse this utterly unmerited award:

To: Secretary of the Navy

WE ARE NOT ALONE

Posted on March 19, 2009 at 12:00pm 2 Comments

It is not surprising to me, that there are many grass roots efforts all across our great Country that are rising up to fight for our rights as Americans. Another group that has just sprung up is Oath Keepers. According to their web site, they are teaming up with many like organizations, Active Duty, Reserves, National Guard and Veterans to fight the good fight and protect the rights given us under the Constitution of the United States, and to prevent those who would take them away from… Continue

Col. Riley's letter to Retired General Shinseki

Posted on March 18, 2009 at 11:06am 1 Comment

For any who have not read Col. Riley's letter to Gen. Shinseki, you should go to Col. Riley's Corner and read it. I am a Service connected Combat Veteran. I support the Col.'s position 110 %. When you apply for Hospital benefits with the VA, you already have to tell them how much you earn. That helps them determine how much of a co-payment you must make. The VA also wants to know if you have any private insurance ie.. Blue Cross, Blue Shield. VA and the insurance company then fight about who is… Continue

Where are all of the Veterans Groups ?

Posted on March 17, 2009 at 10:46am 2 Comments

Where are ALL of the Veteran Groups? We in the Veteran community and the military, have a very large voting block. If we ALL came together, we could change things in Washington (Disneyland East). Secretary Gates has just said that he plans to cut back on appropriations for defense spending. He says that his decision is based on meetings he had with the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. He plans to cut funding for Ships, Planes and Armored Tactical Vehicles. This does not make any sense to me as a… Continue

Gunny, Do I know you? I am from Roseburg and was the Commandant of the MCL detachment there in 2007. My wife of fifty years died in November of that year while we were visiting our children in South Carolina and getting ready to be surprised by them with a 50th celebration. She died two days before. I was so devistated that I sold my home, my motor home and gave everything to my children except a few things I cherished. I moved back to Virginia (wife was a native of the D. C. Area when I met her in 1955 and married her. I left the Corps after ten years because I found I could not support my wife and two children on an E-6 SSGT pay $245 per month even living on base at Quantico. I finished my education at the American University and became a Federal Auditor for GAO and later became an Inspector General and took over an office in Seattle where I retired with 35 years Service. Marine equivalent: Full Colonel. I became a docent at the Marine Corps Museum in Quantico when it opened but two years after wife died, met another lady we married and I now live back in Virginia and too far to commute at todays fuel prices. Anyway thanks for the comments and Semper Fi I agree, we will never quit. Also congratulations on raising a fine family Rich

After taking away or making us pay for VA benefits, next they will probably take away our disability pay. Serving our country after WWII has not had the honour and respect due from the citizens and politicians, with few exceptions.

Thank You for joining the "Irish Brigade", Doyle and Sue! It's a real pleasure to welcome you most sincerely. Any person who served his/her country for 22 years and in two wars is a hero to me. I salute you. I was in Portland in late 1983 on business. Drove up the Colombia River Gorge, absolutely wonderful. I was inside the nuclear power station in Richland (home of nuclear) and was fascinated. Portland is beautiful. God Bless you Both. Éamonn.

Sgt. Doyle,

I have no idea why. I can ask Col. Riley if there is a problem with the ning host. I have never had a problem to date, but it's better to troubleshoot than to have it happen to others.

Terry Jones to Burn Qurans on 9/11

The Rev. Terry Jones is planning to burn 2,998 Qurans on Sept. 11 in Tampa, though the exact location of the event has not been announced.

But on Jones’ Facebook page, Google Maps directs attendees to an exact location in West Tampa.

The directions are very specific. Motorists are told to exit the interstate and get onto East Floribraska Avenue. Eventually, drivers are told to “turn right onto North Ola Avenue, and then immediately turn left onto West Street.”

The directions say to [...]

Muslim Terror Cell in Israel Plotted to Murder, Steal Body

The Shin Bet revealed Tuesday that in recent months it exposed a terrorist cell in the Hevron region that was planning to steal an Israeli citizen’s body, in hopes of trading the corpse for imprisoned terrorists.

The cell was affiliated with the Islamic Jihad terrorist group.

Several members were arrested. They were identified as Matez Mahmoud Taleb Abido, Bashir, Ayeed Mahmoud Zahada, Hazam Ouni Mahmoud Tawil, and Abdullah Mahmoud Ata Abido.

Hazam Tawil and Abdullah Abido have served previous prison terms for terror-related crimes.
