Constitutional Emergency

Founder's Quote

America's Christian Heritage v Season's PC

"The Commander in Chief directs that divine Service be performed every Sunday at 11 oClock in those Brigades to which there are Chaplains; those which have none to attend the places of worship nearest to them. It is expected that Officers of all Ranks will by their attendence set an Example to their men. While we are zealously performing the duties of good Citizens and soldiers we certainly ought not to be inattentive to the higher duties of Religion. To the distinguished Character of Patriot, it should be our highest Glory to add the more distinguished Character of Christian. The signal Instances of providential Goodness which we have experienced and which have now almost crowned our labours with complete Success, demand from us in a peculiar manner the warmest returns of Gratitude and Piety to the Supreme Author of all Good." --George Washington, General Orders, (May 2nd, 1778)

My Take

"This 'c'ommander in 'c'hief would direct that all Divine Services Cease and Desist, unless, of course, it was a Islamic Services. What do you bet he would attend every service instead of his continued practice,  Pretending to be Christian.

We are a Christian Judo Nation and must exert every effort to return to Our God Blessed Constitutional America that no Religion Rules." --TSGT Clough

No religion rules-- maybe but I served from June 69-- Jan.1977 In the US Army . We trained to prepare to defend  against all enemy foreign or domestic by considering our Constitution and  the founding principles as reflected in the words uttered by men like George Washington and others. America's God and Country :Encyclopedia of quotations ,Wm. J.Federer editor Amerisearch 2000; Under God:George Washington and the question of church and State, Tara Ross, and Joseph C.Smith Jr.Spence Publishing ,2008, the Library of America series George Washington :Writings John Rhodehamel ,editor, third printing,1997 ; Political Sermons of the American Founding era ,1730- 1805 Ellis Sandoz editor ,Liberty Fund second Edition ,1998(2 Vol.) provide some of my library. I believe James Wilson teaching American law in the founding era  reflected  Blackstone when he taught to be valid our laws must not contradict the laws dictated by God ,Himself. speaking of the Revealed Law (Scripture) and the Laws of nature applied wherever men have not the Scriptures.Religion,Morality, and Knowledge being necessary to good government and the happiness of mankind....Article III of the twice passed Northwest Ordinance  seems to be directly influenced by a popular sermon  of the day "The principles of civil Union and Happiness considered and recommended."Elizur Goodrich May 10,1787. (Political Sermons vol.I  pp909-940.) May consider Col. John Eidsmoe Christianity and the Constitution.Baker Books ppb 1995.And Joseph Story - A Familiar Exposition of the constitution of the United States of America  Regnery Gateway 1997 edition from the 1859 original . I am not certain I can reconcile the writings of Gen.George Washington , the history of our Constitution, and what I know of Joseph Story to what you appear to suggest. This is not a condemnation of you-for I once believed the same.I offer only some suggested reading.

I was not clear about your intent ,sir. I believe  your intent and my own are in agreement. I am overly sensitive   when it comes to the notion of separation between church and State. But  I wanted to be sure the resources I named were posted for all to consider. Thank you for your service,Sir. my few years pale in comparison.I did not intend to offend.

Robert, Thank you for you kind words, to have served is just as important as those of us that made it a career.

I to am very sensitive about te Seperation of Church & Tate. My great concern today and for our future is the aggreve and to successfuly at times Islamic (CAIR) moves to make one belive that they are just a religion and should be given the smae protection and privlages as all othe religions. It after all a Government that uses its Religious Component to Controll All People and All things. It is Ilams special treatment in our schools, colleges, universaties, etc as well as the military, and other areas of Society make it a primary to all of us..
