Constitutional Emergency

IN MEMORY OF JANET EMIG, April 28,2009

In the photos I posted are several pictures of Janet Emig, a resident of the Womens' Care Center of Bartow, Fl..
Janet was one of 4 victims of the former housemother Rose Sherwood who was arrested for parole violation in Atlantic City , New Jersey.
In the last 2 & 1/2 months Janet has tried to get the money stolen from her by applying to the Board of Directors of the W.C.C. for them to take out a loan to give her. She had just gone to Vero Beach and gotten herself an apartment on the Ocean in a 65 + community. She was looking forward to starting her life over and getting on with living. Her health was another matter! Along with COPD she was a heavy smoker and wouldn't stop.
Janet's bronchitis was aggrivated by all the stress and strain she was under, as well as the insinsitivity of the B.of D.'s who finally turned Janet and her Lawyer over to the Insurance carrier that was still trying to stall her.
Then on April the 1st. the B.of D.'s decided they didn't want the head aches that Janet and her lawyer were giving them and gave her an eviction notice to be out by April 27th. and still she couldn't leave.
You see, her retirement community needed proof she had money to fall back on incase she as unable to pay for a months rent. They needed proof she had the money. The Executive Director Mrs.Smith had given Janet a letter head statement verifying to the Management company that Janet had the money to back her up! Unfortunately the same weekend Janet went to Vero With the Verification was the same weekend that Rose Sherwood the former housemother was tracked down and arrested.
When Janet returned from Vero Beach she found out along with everyone else that the money was gone, used by Sherwood to finance her gambling habit and many trips.
So Janet did the only thing she could do, If she didn't want to be sued by the Management company in Vero for false declaration of finances, she needed her $4,000.00 back.
But the B.of D's. were upset with her and her lawyer and then decided to get rid of her. In the mean time Janet had gotten sicker and sicker and went to the Dr. and got med. for her illness, For the last three days she wasn't able to eat or drink anything and bearly able to get out of bed. But the B. of D's, went ahead with the eviction, the Pres.Eliz Dedricks, Vice Pres. Lisa Olinger, and Sec. Linda James were all present when the police showed up to physically remove her on the evening of the 27th. The police found out how sick she was and told the three women they weren't in the habit of ejecting sick people from a homeless shelter, and if the Board wanted her out they needed to get her out some other way!
Sometime during the night or early morning hours, Janet passed on, she must have gotten up in the night and fell,
but no one knew about it as there is a strick code of privacy at th Center.
The first thing the Board did the next day was to call the Director Mrs. Smith and tell her to go to the Court House and obtain a three day eviction notice and then serve it to Janet. Mrs. Smith told them she wouldn't be a part of that, yet her job was hanging in the balance. I took Mrs. Smith to the Court House and around noon, they told her that they couldn't file all the papers that day and to come back the next day. We went back to the Center and She asked everyone available if any had see or talked to Janet that day, as Mrs. Smith wanted to talk to her. No one had seen her at all, so Mrs. Smith went to her room and found her dead on the floor between the two beds in the room.
911 was called and the B.of D.'s who came over to see for themselves, by the time the police and fire emts got there Janet had been gone for some time. She lay there for most of the day until the Funeral home came to take her and soon as we can we are going to have a memorial for her.
She had one Brother living in New Hampshire , a niece, and one Brother n law living in Lake Wales, Fl.
This whole tragedy has been a comedy of errors, and there was no reason for it! My God they were going to EVICT FROM THEIR HOMELESS SHELTER A WOMAN WHO HAD BEEN STOLEN FROM BY ONE OF THEIR EMPLOYEES, AND THE TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY THEY WOULDN'T EVEN SET UP A FUND FOR RE-EMBURSSING HER OR THE OTHER WOMEN.
Do ;you think OPRAH , ARCENIO, or anyone else even believe this was true in AMERICA?
please send some feed back to me asap...........this isn't over by a long shot there are three other women that may be kicked out too, as soon as they get themselves some lawyers.
PLEASE FEEL FREE TO COPY THIS TO OTHER WEB SITES AND GET SOMEONE WHO WILL CARE ABOUT HOMELESS WOMEN SOME SORT OF CLOSURE!!!
