A teachable moment Mr. President!
Photo of my father, Lee Phillips. He could hardly stand for this photo because of wounds not as visible as his hands, WWII, Solomon Islands, Eighth Engineers. He was in the critical care unit when he volunteered to raise funds for the war effort.
Obama, just posted this so maybe someone would show you what "real" Americans paid for this country. You might also learn what a real man is. I hope this makes clear why I disrespect a little punk who still sucks on a pacifier. This is "service to one's country" know now why I get sick every time I hear you or some congressman say "I served".

Thanks to your father. Millions of WWII vets came home and built the greatest nation and society ever seen, and damned few of 'em spent the rest of their lives whining about "battle fatigue" (PTSD) and other maladies. Both of my grandfathers were in "The Great War", my parents served during Korea, although they were both stationed in Germany, and I went to Viet Nam. One of my sons just got out of the Navy, having served in "Operation Iraqi Freedom", one son-in-law was a Marine in Iraq, and my younger son is dithering about enlisting. I'll probably have to kick his butt -- yes, I still can!
Let's see anything even CLOSE from Barry's family! I understand that his maternal grandfather served during WWII, but, knowing his politics, I would wager that he did more damage than good to the service. All Barry and his worthless family have done is jet around the world on our nickel. I used to tell people that the only time Uncle Sam paid for one of MY vacations, he sent me to where people were shooting at me.
Semper Fi.
Comment by Alfie Hardin on November 2, 2012 at 11:05pm Thank you, Art, for sharing the wonderful story and photo. Viet Nam was a botched politicians' war. A belated and sincere 'thank you,' Ed, for your honorable service to America during those strange times.
No thanks necessary; I enlisted. ;-)
Oh, by the way, all wars are politicians' wars. War is the final step of diplomacy.

Hundreds of Afghan interpreters who served on the frontline with British forces in Afghanistan will be offered the chance of a new life in Britain after a government U-turn, it was revealed on Wednesday.

But many of the interpreters say their lives are in danger from the Taliban due to their work with British forces in the restive southern Helmand [...]
Iran is making significant progress in expanding its nuclear program, including in opening up a potential second route to developing the bomb, a new U.N. atomic agency report showed Wednesday.

It also outlined further progress at a reactor under construction at Arak, also in central Iran, which Western countries fear could provide Iran with plutonium if the fuel [...]
