This country has no busines fighting wars anymore. We now only enter a war with plans for an exit stategy. That as a starting point in any conflict is inviting defeat. Add to that rules of engagement that insures the survival of the enemy and the killing of Americans and you have a military leadership that cannot win wars. Our navy fights pirates by watching them from billion dollar ships with biboculars and the one fighting branch of our military, our Marines are about to be neutered by this group of sixties radicals. Tell your children and grandchildren we have fought enough wars and do not join any branch of our military. The only war worth fighting in the future will be against their own corrupt socialist government.

This is meant as a general comment based on my personal experience as a Marine.  It is not specifically directed to anyone in particular, but is just my observation relative to the discussion taking place here.

I joined the corps in 1951, right out of high school.  I served for 3 years and received an honorable discharge as a Staff Sergeant in 1954 after returning from Korea at the end of 1953, the year the "police action" ended.  I'm concerned by what I'm reading here, as based on statements made, one could conclude that foundational imperatives traditionally inherent in the Corps have changed since I was on active duty.  During my time as an active duty Marine we had commanders in the field like Chesty Puller, who later became the Commandant.  General Puller was held in such high regard by those he served with that even after he retired if he in civilian clothes, with his family, entered a restaurant to have dinner the men in the establishment, who knew who he was, would stand showing their respect for him.  If he felt it was necessary to order his Marines to put their weapons down in any situation, though I can't see him doing that, they would have put them down!  I was taught, early on, in boot camp that when you were given an order by a superior, whether that superior be your Commanding Officer, the Sergeant Major or your squad leader, you followed that order without reservation!  I never knew one Marine who would not carry out an order given by a superior.  The integrity of the Corps was based on that foundational imperative.  It was sacrosanct.   I heard of pseudo Marines who couldn't conform to that imperative, but they were either weeded out in Boot Camp and sent packing or wound up in Leavenworth.  As I say, this just reflects my experience and if things are such now that Marines can opt to obey which orders they choose to obey I'm afraid our Country is in deeper trouble than I thought, as the Corps I knew is no more.  My guess is this isn't the case.  My guess is this talk of shouting back at officers telling them you won't obey an order is really just hyperbole to emphasize a point.  If it is more than that, then the foundational imperative, the necessary discipline which is the backbone of an efficient and honorable fighting force like the Marine Corps is no more.  I cannot allow myself to believe that today's Marines don't understand the meaning of "esprit de corps".  Semper Fi MEANS Semper Fi!

Semper Fi,

So much for  "esprit de corps".  Semper Fi MEANS Semper Fi!  I guess this code leaves you brainless.  The day will come if things are going the way they are with this president that we will have to exersize our constitutional right to remove the standing administration and replace it with the original constitutional republic it is suppose to be.  Unless a lot of military people ignore the orders of a rogue president they will be klling their own citizens for some code that says take obey orders no matter what.  I just lost my respect of Jarheads if you all feel the same way.

I can't fault the troops for following orders.  These people are very familiar with the political correctness that has overrun our military since the 70s when I was in it.  I'm sure that many of them grumbled to themselves and each other about it but, like good soldiers, followed orders.  It was a lawful order and they had no business refusing to obey it, like it or not.  Now as to the foolishness of the order and the politican who was behind it,  I agree 100%.

Comment by Joyce Romano on March 18, 2012 at 3:50am

AMEN.  The question isn't that the soldiers followed orders.  The question is THE ORDER!  Our Pentagon has been infiltrated by the same subversive elements that have infiltrated ALL our government agencies...and the media and academia.  And none of them have our best interests at heart.  They are all focused on the global government...not in America as a sovereign nation.

We Must Open our Eyes to Jihad, by Diana West

Sixteen-year-old Ari Halberstam was shot in the head on March 1, 1994. He died four days later.

Nearly 20 years after a Hasidic Jewish boy riding across the Brooklyn Bridge (pictured) was killed by a Muslim fighting jihad, a British soldier was hacked to death and beheaded on the streets of London by Muslims fighting jihad.

Thanks to the happenstance of a passer-by with a video recorder, the world heard almost immediately from one of the two London suspects, Michael [...]

Obama Lied about Islamic Terror Threat

Terrorism analysts are rebutting President Obama’s assertion that the “scale of the threat” from Islamic terrorists has reverted to pre-Sept. 11, 2001, levels.

“This is a total fabrication,” said Steven Emerson, whose Investigative Project on Terrorism tracks radical Islam. “The ‘scale of this threat’ in the 1990s never closely resembled the terrorist attacks post 9/11. This is an outright lie.”

The Heritage Foundation has been cataloguing foiled terror attacks post-9/11 by Islamic groups. The number: 54.

James Carafano, a military analyst at Heritage, said the 1990s’ numbers [...]

Claims of Sharia Law being Enforced in The Hague

There have been calls for an urgent debate in the Dutch parliament about the integration of Muslim immigrants amid claims that one area of The Hague, known locally as “the Sharia triangle”, is being run by a form of unofficial Sharia police.

The claims relate to the district of Schilderswijk, about two kilometres from the city centre, where an almost entirely Muslim population of some 5,000 people surrounds the El Islam mosque, fuelling criticism that the government has failed to ensure a [...]
