Guilty until proven innocent:
During the recent House impeachment investigations and hearings of President Donald Trump Representatives Jerrold Nadler and Adam Schiff stated on several occasions that President Trump had the opportunity to appear before Congress to “Prove his innocence”.
The problem with that is that THAT IS NOT HOW OUR SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT AND OUR JUDICIAL SYSTEM WORK. In Fact that is exactly the opposite of how our judicial system works.
Under the United States Constitutional system of justice, any person, including the President, is automatically considered INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.
The burden of proof is on the accuser, those who are making the accusations, NOT on the person being accused.
