March 08, 2009Nationalizing Life and Death"Crisis! Crisis! Crisis!" So is it always with petty politicians seeking to enhance their power. Swallow it whole, swallow it now is the word. But just what are we swallowing so fast that we don't even have time to think? Are we really to believe that all we must do is touch the hem of President Obama's garment, and the pains of capitalist dislocation will wash away?Hidden deep in the stimulus bill is a Trojan horse like no other. I am not speaking of pork. A scheme more dastardly would have been hard to concoct. With the passage of this bill, the US government is now empowered to "RATION" healthcare. That means, TO TREAT OR NOT TREAT is now a government question.Within the bill is a line that would sentence millions of people to DEATH:In addition, $400,000,000 shall be available...to accelerate the development and dissemination of research assessing the comparative effectiveness of health care treatments and strategies, including through efforts that: (1) conduct, support, or synthesize research that compares the clinical outcomes, effectiveness, and appropriateness of items, services, and procedures that are used to prevent, diagnose, or treat diseases, disorders, and other health conditionsFor those that don't speak draconian, "comparative effectiveness" means that the cost of an individual's treatment will be divided by the number of years they are likely to benefit. If your treatment is too "costly" you will be thrown out with the bathwater. No country for old men. The bill also created the "Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research" to make comparative effectiveness decisions. Only 20 years after winning the Cold War we are adopting central planning as our preferred model. Only, instead of determining the number of toothbrushes, this committee will determine the value of someone's life. How ironic. The stimulus bill mandates electronic healthcare records for every American by 2014 and would "encourage the development and use of clinical registries, clinical data networks, and other forms of electronic health data that can be used to generate or obtain outcomes data...." No room for miracles. Computer models will now decide your "outcome." Twilight Zone anybody? http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=43358If you are picturing Germany circa 1930, you're right on. With the passing of this bill, government, not doctors, will decide who receives care and who doesn't, in essence, who lives and who dies. The cruelest regimes in history have begun with this premise. Government was responsible for non-war related deaths exceeding 100M in the 20th Century, 80M by Communist governments[i], and now we're going to trust them with our medical care? "Do no harm", the Hippocratic Oath, has been replaced by "cost-benefit analysis."It will start with the elderly, because after all, they are social burdens and a drain on federal funds. They need to wake up and smell the coffin. "If they're going to die they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population!" Comrade Tom Daschle, the author of the ominous healthcare provisions, supports this line of thought, saying that healthcare reform "will not be pain free." He goes on to praise Europeans for being willing to accept "hopeless diagnoses" and forgo "experimental treatments".Next would be the infirmed. Too many resources are wasted on people with incurable diseases. We should allocate money to those who actually have the potential to live and live well. Then the children with a poor quality of life. One can recall the abortion lobby's virulent argument for killing black babies. Then newborns. It simply won't end. The medical profession will become the harbinger of death, not health. This is not a slippery slope argument. Holland has already slipped the slope. Holland's healthcare system is so cash-strapped that it views humans as liabilities. A patient must formally request "no euthanasia" before simple outpatient surgery. In fact, involuntary euthanasia accounts for over 1,000 deaths in Holland annually. In addition, 8,000 people in Holland die every year because they are given intentional overdoses of pain medication, not to control pain, but to end life. In 60 percent of these cases, the patient did not give his or her consent to the action.[ii] http://www.internationaltaskforce.org/fctholl.htmIf doctors making quality of life decisions doesn't scare you, maybe this will: Holland has a committee to decide who's expendable. It actually slates children, adults-anybody-for euthanasia. Robespierre and the Public Safety Committee are back, ushering in a reign of terror for our times. http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/004/983ynlcv.aspHolland has quickly broadened the scope of euthanasia, extending the "right to die" all the way down to 12-year olds, no parental consent required. If they can get an abortion, why can't they kill themselves? http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/004/616jszlg.aspHolland even legalized euthanasia for newborns. In some countries this is still considered infanticide. Recently an abortionist was jailed in the United States for throwing a survivor baby in a dumpster. A few inches is all that determines humanity in this country, but at least there's a standard. http://content.nejm.org/cgi/content/full/352/10/959It is hard to believe that only fifty years ago, it was Dutch doctors that stood up to Adolph Hitler's eugenicist policies and refused to kill weaker patients. What a difference a generation makes. Holland is a giant concentration camp. That is why it is so crucial for Americans to wake up before it's too late.Bottom-line: if government is allowed to make healthcare about cost and not saving lives, it will degrade human worth to something not fit to mention. If government controls the medical profession, it controls life. We have a choice. America can go the way of Germany and Holland, or it can remain the beacon of hope for the world. The "right to choose" has been turned against us. What will we choose?_____________________________________________________________________________________http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/03/nationalizing_life_and_death.htmlNationalizing Life and Death By John Griffing[i] R.J. • Old men, smokers, obese, drug users, drunks, and so on. Though I think you are missing the main point of socialized medicine. If we socialize medicine then in the name of cost effectiveness it is in the "national" interest to assure people are living a "healthy" lifestyle. Which translates to starting each doc visit by peeing in a cup. This will prove that you are not drinking, not using caffine, tobbacco, that you are maintaining your prescribed diet and so on.

So instead of banning activites they just deny you health care. No need to ban guns. In the "interest" of saving tax payer dollars anybody who shoots will be unable to recieve health care. With private health care astronomically priced or outlawed who needs a law to control people? The Gov already blackmails states using Highway dollars. If states do something the Feds don't like they threaten to yank the highway funds. How is housing less important than health care yet if you have committed certain crimes you are ineligible for federal housing. I think other strings are also attached. The point is, if the Feds get their fingers into health care it will be wielded as a whip against the people of America.

The next step is manditory exercise program attendence.

Then since mental health is such an essential part of physical health your manditory mental health screenings and appropriate medications to keep you nice and happy so you'll be healthy and cost the taxpayers less money.

Finally think about the #1 cause of suicide. #1 cause of murder. Top cause of depression. Relationships. A relationship gone bad or the lack of a relationship has a severe adverse effect on one's health. So in the interest of a healthy happy America, the Gov will have full rights to assign you a mate, allow/dissallow you to procreate and decide when and if you can break up. It's the logical conclusion of the idiocy called socialized medicine.
    • Sorry for the double post....didn't see the "Reply to This" here.... *sigh* I'm blind sometimes... -_-

All of the previous comments I wholeheartedly agree on. However, Draciron, maybe I'm failing to see the problem with this one: Mandatory exercise program attendence. This would actually be a good thing for our country because it's not a bad thing at all. If you think about it, if this was something we had for a long time, as in when obesity JUST started becoming a problem in our country, we would have nicked our "Fattest Country In the World" label in the butt. Not only would Americans be keeping weight off, but they would be healthier and live longer. This is something that Japan does...even while they're at work. They have mandatory 30 min sessions of stretching and light aerobic exercise. Look at them...they're one of the skinniest and healthiest countries in the world. I honestly wouldn't mind living there, not just for that, but I also think their culture is cool (that's the samurai semi-fanatic in me).

Anyway, I just really don't see any negatives in a mandatory exercise program. The way I look at it, the pros significantly outweigh the cons. I'd have rather had my parents kick my butt to "mandatory exercise" where we all got healthier, and I wouldn't be needing to lose all this weight just to try and start training & whatnot...

      That's my two cents.
      • Ron, I like to ask you.....just WHO & WHAT are you supporting???? Since you are advocating Universal Health or Communist RATION care & incapable to see the reality behind this draconian measure then you have problem & deserve to live under Communist Authoritarian rule. WHY are you and your disgusting links doing here in support of Universal Health Care???? Please kindly remove yourself & your comment & that FRAUD' name who is Anti-America & Anti-Christian from this space. Mandate? WHAT MANDATE???? I distinctly remember about HALF of this country OPPOSED that COMMUNIST!!!! Clearly, you are one sad , DELUSIONAL, BRAINWASHED, USEFUL IDIOT!!!! Thank You. Terry.
  • You have requested opinions on this article and I am trying to form an intelligent answer to an insane problem. I think, however, that we must try to learn life-saving options ourselves. Each one of us. Back in 1940 there was no "health care" and many people died for lack of it, however lives were also saved through common sense and a smattering of "know-how". The big problems in life cannot be addressed, such as cancer, heart attacks, appendicitis and so forth, but the smaller ones can. I think each one of us needs to gain as much knowledge as possible in order to help ourselves and others, as it is becoming obvious that smokers, oldsters, etc (like me), are fast becoming a liability to the system. Even though I'm in better health than most youngsters yet I will be judged by my age in this new and very ugly set of rules.
  • I don't know what the people of this country were thinking when they elected this president? It seems logical that they weren't thinking, just being led and brain washed. They should remember one thing they will go down the same shit hole as the rest of us when all is said and done if they don't get their heads out of their ass and start making good decisions in choosing people to run our country! Maybe they like being controlled and led around by the nose, but I don't and I won't bottom line!
    • You've got to be kidding me! They actually said in writing that you are fired because you spoke out against Nobama? Sounds highly illegal to me...i'd get a lawyer and sue the shit out of your previous employer...just my opinion. Last I checked the right to free speech had not been stripped of us YET!
      • If this is true, you better believe he has a case. We still have our right to free speach and this is definately a case of "wrongful termination".
  • Knowing most of the food contains GMOs and is in many other ways harmful. Do a garden, be prepaired. History shows us when tyranny meets resistance they it starts pushing harder. Be strong and be prepared.
  • I thought the world rid itself of the Aryan race when Hitler was defeated...looks like we have another Hitler to contend with who is hell bent on world domination and genocide.

Obama is a traitor to America and allowing this and many of the other socialist agenda's to foster only go to prove just how bad this traitor is for our country. The other culprits are those in congress who support such nonsense...they to must be kicked to the curb (preferably under the bus) before we lose all of our freedoms. Civil war is looming and those on this blog have chosen to fight, let's hope the fence sitters make their choice soon before they become targets for both sides of this issue.
