PC in the Military Establishment

Sam  Holliday

On  25 October 2012 Defense Secretary Panetta said that he and top military   commanders "felt very strongly" that deploying American forces to  defend  against the attack  in Benghazi, Libya was too risky because what  was  happening on the ground was unclear. Panetta  added "the basic principle is  that you don't deploy forces into harm's  way without knowing what's going on."  For those of us who have been in  combat this rings hollow, since we remember  many times we have gone into  the unknown to protect our comrades in  danger.

There  is another explanation for this failure to deploy military assets to  Benghazi just as soon as the attack was known,  i.e. within the first  hour of a seven hour battle. Was it because of political  correctness  regarding Islam at the higher echelons of the military  establishment?  Was it because the administration did not want to use military  forces  near the end of a political campaign? These possibilities need to be   analyzed and corrected as warranted.

Currently  our political elite (including the top echelons of the military) and  the  foreign policy establishment (including academe and think tanks)  have accepted the false premise that the only threat comes from  "extremists" seeking to hijack Islam and therefore from "terrorists associated  with al-Qaeda". They see Islam as "a noble religion, and a religion of  peace." They make no distinction between the inner jihad (which is  a  religion to help individuals struggle against baser instincts) and  the outer  jihad (which is a sociopolitical ideology of submission just as evil as  other totalitarian ideologies we have faced in the past).

Today  most military commanders have been promoted based upon their ability to  manage personnel, equipment,  and money  for conventional war,  including how the armed forces were used in Iraq  and Afghanistan. They have  little interest in, and avoid, ideological struggles and strategic  communication--the critical mass of Irregular  Warfare.   Those in the  very top of the military establishment are selected  because they are "team  players", not because they are willing to "tell  truth to  power".

Much  of our political elite, and the foreign policy establishment, reject   anyone who thinks the Third Jihad is inherently a threat, that the outer  jihad  is inherently incompatible with the US Constitution, or that  Islam is a  holistic, totalitarian ideology rather than a religion  like Judaism,  Christianity, Hinduism, Taoism, and Buddhism. They do not  accept the original  meaning of the 1st Amendment of the Constitution  or Article VI para 3  prohibition on "religious tests" for public office.

Also  the political elite is too heavily dependent upon exports of   energy products from the Middle East to acknowledge the  truth. Decades  of very clever Saudi-Wah'abi funding, propaganda and  subversion have  given our leaders a benign impression of Islam.

  • Panetta needs to be hung along with obummer, all of his staff and all of his czars.

  • Absolutely correct and something I hope President Romney will clean out. Very worrisome that we have so much MB infiltration into the highest parts of government. Gen. Dempsey in my humble opinion is one of the ones that need to retire...he subscribes to political correctness and horrible rules of engagement that has been adopted. Just a mess and I pray this gets rectified soon.

  • If you were never on the ground, fighting for freedom, you don't have a clue.  Also the political correcctness issue has been defined to where we nust appologise to the one who offended us.  Of course the absence of physical fortitude doesn't defend

anything. Too many rear echelon individuals that don't know what their responsibilites are. The sad part is that some of them are our military leaders.

  • This whole situation is a nightmare.  Our military is being decimated by the PC attitude of this whole administration and Panetta needs to be held accountable for the murder of these people. The truth will come out someday and I hope that Romney will have the balls to clean house and make whatever drastic moves he must make to start this process and follow through. We have military officers in Leavenworth who did nothing wrong, we have a bearded a..hole who is still in possession of his beard because no one has the guts to shave him, courtmartial him and then hang his a... Our military can't get the help they need because the military refuses to call this act of terrorism for what it was - workplace violence my foot.  Is it November 6 yet?

  •   Ever since WW 11 our Government has forgotten that if Our Soldiers are sent to fight we need to be backed in what needs to be done to win. They play games with Our lives and won't let the American Soldier fight to WIN. Now it seems the Cowards in Washington don't seem to care about We The People at all. Our Security in America is shameful. Illegal's are killing Americans at an average of 25 a day. Our borders are shot as terrorist's and the illegal's are coming in at a very fast pace. They know the terrorist want the American People DEAD and they don't seem to care about us. The 35 training camps should be attacked and clean out or wiped out of the known terrorist in our Country. How many more Americans are going to die before We The People have had enough of the so called Coward Politicians in America. Being a Veteran and from a family of Veterans all the way back to the beginning of America, I've had enough of the lie's, cheating and stealing from Ameicans by our Government. The time has come for We The People to take charge of our Future or the coming generations will never see Peace and Freedoms because of what leadership we have today, who are sorry excuses for Americans.

    • Dear All:  Is there nobody speaking for us, anymore?  Then, it's up to us to defend ourselves....  not only against foreign enemies, but also our domestic traitors....  we cannot let this PC situation continue and keep killing our troops (Political Correctness is another Cultural Marxist idea to divide and conquer this Republic, like "diversity", "pro-choice", "sustainability"). And, BTW, where have the VFW and American Legion gone?...   are they not our brothers and sisters in arms? So, we must change the Congress on Nov.6 to make sure that ONLY fiscal conservatives and pro-military are elected....   and we must keep their feet to the fire!  Whatever money I have left, will not do me any good if Obama is re-elected....   he will confiscate all 401Ks, IRAs, and bank accounts if he needs the money to support welfare, capital cronyism, and overloaded union pensions.

  • I think all military of all ranks and branches associated with this politcical farse need to be sent to Leavenworth for the long tour.I find it hard to believe that they and other analysts could view live video coupled with e-mail and radio traffic and not be able to determine just what was happening on the ground. We do not need those people (I purpously did not use "military", because they are not by any measure) in any position of this nature. They need to be read their oath of office and summarily dismissed with no retirement as a minimum. Problem is, there is no flag rank officer anywhere in D.C. that will take such action or even entertain the idea. Spineless whimps worried about their next star.

  • Almost everyone from O-5 up should be given an option: resign or be executed.  There would be some confusion in the following year, but everyone knows that the NCO's run everything.  The upper-echelon officer corps could be filled with patriots from O-2 to O-4 over the months following the purge.

This would, naturally, have to be accompanied by a complete purge of our Congress and judicial system, along with all of the unconstitutional czars and cabinet departments.  It's an ugly thought, but that is about the only thing that will straighten things out.

  • Think about this, they have had to known that they would get hammered for not sending help to Benghazi so the question is what is worth a dead ambassador and all the heat they are taking in order to keep it covered?  They made a conscious decision to not send help and take the heat.  I have a feeling they are covering up Fast & Furious on an international scale.  It may not be gun running but there is something else very big that they are trying to hide.  I hope that those with the ability to investigate and dig into this manure pile will let us know.  I recall seeing a small blurb on the internet recently that the jihadists in Syria are being armed with American weapons.  One of those insignificant little articles that no one pays attention to.
