Precinct Delegates

Precinct delegates are the most powerful positions in politics. You do not have to attend lots of meetings, but you have to know the candidates and their backgrounds and voting records. Also you have to know who the party leaders are. Being a precinct delegate you vote on who the party leaders are and also who the candidates for offices will be. On February 7th, 2013 at 7:30PM all counties in Michigan are required to hold their county convention to elect delegates and alternate delegates to Michigan's state convention to elect state party chair and other party leaders. If you want to be involved contact your county Republican party. Below I have coped the procedure that is followed to fill the open delegate positions. My comment: NOTE: After the vote on STATE CONVENTION delegates people can be elevated to a delegate. That is to keep the convention from being taken over by people trying to infiltrate and take over. So PLEASE, if you are really serious attend your county convention no matter what state. I believe that all states are required to hold their county and state conventions the same dates as specified by the Republican leadership.State rules on how you can become a precinct delegate if you missed the August 7, 2012 primary.PRECINCT DELEGATE ELEVATION, either temporary or permanent, is prohibited prior to vote on State Convention Delegates & Alternates. ONLY precinct delegates elected at the August 7, 2012 Primary Election, those precinct delegates elected to permanently fill vacancies at all subsequent county conventions, and the most recent Republican nominees for state senate, state representative, county‐wide and county commission positions, all incumbent Republican members of the State Legislature, the Michigan Congressional delegation, Statewide Officeholders, the Republican National Committeeman and National Committeewoman from Michigan and Michigan Republican Party Officers, may vote on State Convention delegates & alternates. (See Rule 5b, page 3 of the enclosed Rules). You may fill vacant precinct delegate spots on a permanent basis at the end of your conventions, after the conclusion of all voting on state convention delegates.
