"First of all will be the safety of you and your family. And how you keep them safe depends on the situation that is around you at the time. Let your training or the things you have learned here help guide you. Things that could be of concern to you could be any of the following: Gangs, Looters, DHS, FEMA, Gov officials, Police and unprepared people. Every situation is different and will be different then to someone else’s situation. Your goal is to be as ready as possible for what ever may happen, for if you are ready then you will not panic when it does happen. Panic will get you killed! Stay calm and think it through and execute! Work out in your head or write down on paper what you would do any situation that you can think of what you would do, and if you have questions ask them. Read the files and posts including comments and then re read those until you know them inside out. There is something to be said for repetition! Practice Practice Practice"

  • If you have an escape route, make sure you have a back up.  If possible preselect and if possible mark your routes.  Secure a communication network that you can trust.  Wean all supply lists to those things absolutely necessary, you might have to physically transport them, and large elephants are hard to carry.  Duplicate only those things you know will not be available.

Sensible redundancy is smart.  Lighters and matches, regardless of whether you smoke or not.  Research all possible supply lists for survival.  Make sure they are applicable to the area that you have selected for intermediate, alternate and

possible final destination.  Drill your family on what you know and can glean from experts.  Younger familys might use a game scenerio to keep the interest going.  Make sure the plan fits your group, assignments outside of their experience level will produce non dependable results, often might be fatal.

    • Great post Allen.

Let me add... regardless of whether you smoke or not, full packs and cartons of Cigarettes will be very valuable trading items. If you have a source for really cheap cigarettes, stock-up.

      • People are going to want alcohol too to calm their nerves down!  Makes a great bartering item even if you don't drink.

    • Thanks Allen.  I appreciate these senerios and the experienced answers people give.  I keep them and review them.

  • Thanks.
