Oh, Kim, thank you so very, very much! This fine young man was being scouted by the universities for his football abilities and he chose to go fight for us. Landrum is such a small, independent town and the big newspapers messed up all the information. It took me over a week to get it straight. I think by then, many had given up. But I have the final terrible story now and all they want is emails of cheer! God Bless You for helping me! My 87 year-old mother fell and I have been off the computer and unable to continue until now.
I cannot tell you how much this means to me. I do not know the young man. I am a product of the Vietnam War and feel I can never make up for how our troops were treated - even though I had nothing to do with it. Thank you again!
Staff Sergeant and former Landrum football player Adam Palmer was critically injured by an IED in Iraq,
Gail Palmer said her son has a fractured leg, shattered arm and shrapnel embedded in his body.
“I just fell apart. You think about so many things. I thought about his wife. I thought about his baby,” Palmer said.
He enlisted after graduating high school and was on his third tour in Iraq.
Palmer is being treated at a hospital in Germany. His mother said he will be transferred to Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, D.C., on Sunday or Monday.
