Dear Mr. Grim Reaper,

So far this year you have taken away my personal favorite dancer and entertainer Michael Jackson, a favorite actor Patrick Swayze, and favorite actress Farrah Fawcett and my favorite singer Stephen Gatelly Boyzone.

Just so you know, my favorite politician is Barack Obama.

Thank you

An excerpt from
The Strangest Secret
by Earl Nightingale
George Bernard Shaw said, "People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can't find them, they make them."

Well, it's pretty apparent, isn't it? And every person who discovered this believed (for a while) that he was the first one to work it out. We become what we think about.

Conversely, the person who has no goal, who doesn't know where he's going, and whose thoughts must therefore be thoughts of confusion, anxiety and worry - his life becomes one of frustration, fear, anxiety and worry. And if he thinks about nothing... he becomes nothing.

How does it work? Why do we become what we think about? Well, I'll tell you how it works, as far as we know. To do this, I want to tell you about a situation that parallels the human mind.

Suppose a farmer has some land, and it's good, fertile land. The land gives the farmer a choice; he may plant in that land whatever he chooses. The land doesn't care. It's up to the farmer to make the decision.

We're comparing the human mind with the land because the mind, like the land, doesn't care what you plant in it. It will return what you plant, but it doesn't care what you plant.

Now, let's say that the farmer has two seeds in his hand- one is a seed of corn, the other is nightshade, a deadly poison. He digs two little holes in the earth and he plants both seeds-one corn, the other nightshade. He covers up the holes, waters and takes care of the land...and what will happen? Invariably, the land will return what was planted.

As it's written in the Bible, "As ye sow, so shall ye reap."

Remember the land doesn't care. It will return poison in just as wonderful abundance as it will corn. So up come the two plants - one corn, one poison.

The human mind is far more fertile, far more incredible and mysterious than the land, but it works the same way. It doesn't care what we plant...success...or failure. A concrete, worthwhile goal...or confusion, misunderstanding, fear, anxiety and so on. But what we plant must return to us.

You see, the human mind is the last great unexplored continent on earth. It contains riches beyond our wildest dreams. It will return anything we want to plant.

When I saw Glenn Beck in the end of last month, he had pulled out 3 dog tags he wears faithfully. He said he never takes them off. On the 3 dogtags are the following words:

Question with Boldess..

Seek the truth

Speak the truth without fear.

That is what we need to focus on. All this talk of thinking within the box, or seeing only one side of the coin, must end. And this is something that has occurred in our country time and time again. It is like I am reading a fascinating book right now called Americas Second Revolution by Harlow Giles Unger. A book which talks about the battle between George Washington and Patrick Henry that occurred before and after the U.S. Consitution was written, and ratified. In the book you begin to find out how the Federalists shut out all talk the Anti Federalists were doing. When the Anti Federalists were actually the regular citizens. It was the common people, and farmers who lived in the colonies. Whereas, the Federalists were your wealthy business owners, merchants bankers, , lawyers, and statesmen. Instead of listening to what the Anti Federalists were saying, the Federalists did everything they could to silence the voices of the Anti Federalists. One example of this was when Ben Franklin who was the head of the Pennsylvania delegation made up of the committee of men to vote on the states ratification of the US Consitution, The very group of people that farmers across the state believed that these bankers, lawyers, and merchants had been exploiting and cheating them. One of them was Thomas Mifflin the Speaker of the State Assembly. He was the quartermaster general during the Revolutionary War. He reaped as the book says, "Unsavory profits by withholding food and clothing supplies from Valley Forge in his wharehouses until prices reached exorbitantly high levels." He was accused of htis embezzlement, and he resigned form the army. But he brought all if his ways and methods into Pennsylvania politcs AND the Speakers' post in the Assembly.

It was Mifflin who read the new Consitution to the Pennsylvania Assembly on Friday morning September 28, 1787 to a group of cheering Federalists. It was this Assembly then that called for a state ratification convention WITHOUT permitting debate by the nearly 2 dozen assemblymen from the back country. (Who were the Anti Federalists). On Sept 28, these very angry assemblymen would not attend the session. Thus Mifflin and his Federalists were 2 men short of a quarom to vote on a time and place for the convention and the means of
electing delegates. What Mifflin did he ordered the sergeant at arms and a clerk to find 2 absent assemblymen. They were then ordered to the hall. A crowd of very rowdy Federalsts then found 2 of them. They broke into the boarding house where many Anti Federalists were staying in, and literally dragged 2 of them to the State House. Then sentries were then brought to the State House and forced to remain there until this vote on the States ratification was held.

With the U.S. completely divided over the Consitution, John Quincy Adams said it the best. "The ONLY way this can all be resloved is by the barrel of the gun." Which so sadly is what happened in the Civil War.

So let us learn from history. We have to unite. We have to put away our differences. We have to capture what all of us felt in that march in Washington on 9/12, We MUST think we are Americans! Stop all this bickering, arguing, and getting on the soapbox. We have to spread this truth that is out there. The history of the progreessive movement. What they stand for, and who they are. We have to continue to bombard the American people with the truth. Then we MUST bring those questions to our officals not only in Washington. But in our states, cities, and towns. All the way down to even school boards. And speak it without fear!
