Sgt. Gary Stein
Julie Watson reports for the AP, March 22, 2012, that Sgt Gary Stein is "facing dismissal" from the Marine Corps for his comments critical of Obama on his Armed Services Tea Party Facebook page.
Stein is a weather forecaster with Weapons Field Training Battalion at Camp Pendleton, Calif., which supports operations at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. Read more about his comments critical of Obama, here.
"According to Pentagon directives, military personnel in uniform cannot sponsor a political club; participate in any TV or radio program or group discussion that advocates for or against a political party, candidate or cause; or speak at any event promoting a political movement. Commissioned officers also may not use contemptuous words against senior officials, including the defense secretary or the president."
I tried to find Gary Stein's Armed Forces Tea Party Facebook page, but there appears to be several AFTP pages on Facebook, with one in particular claiming to be "the real" Armed Forces Tea Party instead of Stein's "fake neo-con" AFTP. Too funny.
I did find Gary Stein's Facebook page. Click here.
However, if you click the link for his Armed Forces Tea Party website , you'll get a "Server Not Found" notice. It appears the Marine Corps got Stein to take down the site.
Stein also posted a letter, dated March 21, 2012, from his commanding officer recommending that Stein be discharged from the USMC "by reason of misconduct, specifically commission of serious offenses." You can see the letter for yourself here.
Sgt Stein is asking for a modest $5 donation to help him with his defense. I wanted to donate more but his PayPal site is set at a donation amount of $5. Go here to donate!
