LOUIS PARK, Minn. - Police and public health officials are expected to rule Friday on the safety of a 12-unit apartment building in St. Louis Park after firefighters responding to a call Thursday found a mix of chemicals that could be used to make illegal drugs.Firefighters were called to the apartment building at Raleigh Avenue and Minnetonka Boulevard around 7 a.m. Thursday, where they put out a small stove fire.During their investigation, firefighters found potentially hazardous materials, forcing an evacuation of all 12 units. An initial investigation from a Minnesota National Guard civil support team suggests the chemicals found are consistent with those that could be used in the manufacture of illegal drugs.Health and law enforcement officials will examine the list of chemicals and determine a plan for removal. There is no known public health risk at this time, and residents in nearby buildings are being allowed to come and go as needed.Several residents have been assisted with housing from the Twin Cities Chapter of the American Red Cross.Category: News & Politics
