This is the best way.....
Ted Cruz Just Paid for the ENTIRE Wall (It Won’t Cost You ANYTHING)
Despite the news out of D.C. today that President Trump is expected to sign legislation that will partially fund border security, Democrats continue to interfere with Trump’s wishes to have his ENTIRE border wall built.
Prior to the news that Trump would sign this legislation, Democrats were willing to put the jobs of hundreds of Americans at stake again with another potential government shutdown… just to NOT pay for all of Trump’s wall.
That is, until Senator Ted Cruz got the right idea…
As first reported by Fox News, Senator Cruz believes convicted Mexican drug cartel leader Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán should pay for Trump’s border wall.
This came shortly before the Sinaloa cartel boss was convicted on drug trafficking, weapons violations and money laundering charges and found guilty on all 10 counts.
Cruz tweeted, “America’s justice system prevailed today in convicting Joaquín Guzmán Loera, aka El Chapo, on all 10 counts. U.S. prosecutors are seeking $14 billion in drug profits & other assets from El Chapo which should go towards funding our wall to #SecureTheBorder.”
And since President Trump only needs about a quarter of that to build his planned wall, Cruz quickly jumped into action.
According to Fox News, the Texas Senator urged his colleagues to pass the “Ensuring Lawful Collection of Hidden Assets to Provide Order Act – also known as El Chapo Act – which would use drug proceeds from cartel bosses to fund border security.
The bill was first introduced in April of 2017 and reintroduced in January.
Cruz stated, “Fourteen billion dollars will go a long way to secure our southern border, and hinder the illegal flow of drugs, weapons and individuals… By leveraging any criminal forfeited assets of El Chapo and other murderous drug lords, we can offset the cost of securing our border and make meaningful progress toward delivering on the promises made to the American people.”
We’ll have to give credit, where credit is due… and this could be a brilliant idea.
