To deny the Christian heritage of the United States of America, is to deny that America ever existed at all. The Founding Fathers of the United States perfectly understood the linkage of Christian thinking and the concepts of the government they were establishing. They publicly recognized “Lex Rex”, in that law could be king, because they knew there was a Law Giver, the same One who gave those unalienable rights. The works and testimonies of the great heroes of the faith and defenders of freedom” such as Knox, Calvin, Luther, Bunyan, Tyndale, Rutherford and Wycliff, and others, could all recognize their input into the formative beliefs of our Country. The Founding Fathers realized that Christianity is just not a series of truths, but Truth itself - Truth about all of reality. They further knew that to understand the Truth of what is, brings forth not only certain personal results, but also governmental and legal results.
Our unalienable rights come from God, as does the basis and foundation of all law. This foundation was always God’s written law, back through the New Testament to Moses’ written law; the content and authority of that written law is rooted back to Him, who is the final authority. Therefore, neither church, nor state were equal to, much less above, that law. The basis for the law is not divided, and no one has the right to place anything, including the king, the state or the church, above the content of God’s law.
Because of moral depravity and spiritual apostasy, the United States of America is now rampant with problems which reflect the complete collapse of our Christian foundation. When in the course of human events, it becomes apparent that man’s laws have usurped God’s law, one must ask, has the relativism of our humanistic culture rendered modern society totally unable to distinguish between right and wrong or good and evil? Is society now wholly amoral because of the disintegration of restraints such as the church, the family, our Christian culture and heritage, the law, and our sense of community? These restraints, which once served effectively to stem the tide of evil - evil that would dilute and destroy America’s Christian culture and greatness, have all, either been breached or destroyed. Accordingly, America is now inundated with unprecedented wickedness, lewdness, immorality, perversion and lawlessness.
America has now become the largest exporter of pornography in the world; America has become a leader in advocating homosexuality; and America has offered, murdered, 53,000,000 + babies on the altar of “choice”.
I offer to this honorable(?) court a partial review of our Country’s documented and historical Christian heritage:
“You do well to wish to learn our arts and ways of life, and above all, the religion of Jesus Christ…as it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits and humbly to implore His protection and favor.” May 12, 1797. “...that as a nation we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations, and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions.” George Washington, 1789.
“The general principles on which the Fathers achieved independence, were ...the general principles of Christianity. A republican government can only be supported by pure religion or austere morals, public virtue cannot exist in a Nation without private and public virtue, which is the only foundation for the Republic.” John Adams.
“God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? We have been assured in the sacred writings that ‘except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it.’ I firmly believe this, and I also believe that without his concurring aid we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel.” Benjamin Franklin
“God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are a Gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for me country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever.” “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights…” Thomas Jefferson.
“...Moreover all the sects of the United States are comprised within the great unity of Christianity, and Christian morality is everywhere the same.” Alexis de Tocqueville. 1831.
Abraham Lincoln’s position is profoundly stated in “The Gettysburg Address”, November 19, 1863.
“America was born a Christian nation. America was born to exemplify that devotion to the elements of righteousness which are derived from the revelations of the Holy Scriptures. A Christian nation is not in its slogans, but in the ethical system it chooses to determine right from wrong, which are the elements of righteousness.” President Woodrow Wilson.
“This is a Christian nation.” President Harry Truman, 1947.
During the darkest hours of World War II, President Franklin Roosevelt said in describing the United States as, “the lasting concord between men and nations, founded on the principles of Christianity.”
“...For all practical purposes Christianity and religion were synonymous, ...and it is clear that our Founders never supposed that moral precepts founded on the Christian religion should be excluded from policy making.”
Leo Pfeffer, Constitutional Scholar.
“We are a Christian people, and the morality of the Country is deeply engrafted upon Christianity….” Chief Justice Kent, New York Supreme Court ruled that a law prohibiting blasphemy was Constitutional.
“...the real object of the First Amendment was not to countenance, much less to advance Mohammedanism, or Judaism, or Infidelity, by prostrating Christianity, but to exclude all rivalry among Christian sects and to prevent any national ecclesiastical establishment which would give to an hierarchy the exclusive patronage of the national government.” Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story, 19th Century.
Josiah Brewer, Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court, 1892, The Church of The Holy Trinity vs. United States, concluded, after a survey of the historical evidence, that “These, and many other matters which might be noticed, add a volume of unofficial declarations to the mass of organic utterances that this is a Christian nation.”
In 1931, Supreme Court Justice George Sutherland reviewed the 1892 decision on The Church of The Holy Trinity vs. United States, and reaffirmed that Americans are a “Christian people.”
In 1952, liberal, right-wing Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas declared that “we are a religious people and our institutions pre-suppose a Supreme Being.”
In 1811, “People v. Riggles, the Supreme Court declared, “...We are a Christian people…”
First Chief Justice John Jay wrote, “Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers.”
Supreme Court Justice John McLean wrote, “No one can estimate or describe the salutary influence of the Bible. What would the world be without it? Compare the dark places of the earth, where the light of the Gospel has not permeated, with those where it has been proclaimed and embraced in all its purity. Life and morality are brought to life by the Scriptures.”
Supreme Court Justice Thomas Clark wrote, “The Founding Fathers believed devoutly that there was a God and that the unalienable rights of man were rooted - not in the state, nor the legislature, nor in any other human power - but in God alone.”
The National Appeal of 1904 with political leaders from both parties and from the Executive, Legislative and Judicial departments of government appealed to the American people to reaffirm their commitment to Christianity. Included in that appesl was this statement, “...The social fabric of modern states has no surer foundation than the Bible, especially in a Republic like ours, which rests upon the moral character and educated judgment of the individual. No thoughtful man can doubt that to decrease the circulation and use of the Bible among the people would seriously menace the highest interest of civilized humanity.” This was signed by Grover Cleveland, Theodore Roosevelt, Chief Justice Brewer, Justice Fuller, Chauncey M. Depew, William Jennings Bryant, and many other leaders of note.
Well, we know from the historical record that America was established as a Christian nation. It doesn’t matter how the culprits try to alter and distort history, so as not to offend people with different ideas. The record stands, to the credit of the Founders who recognized that God had a plan. America was established in the shadow of God’s providence, and, she became great because she was good. It was America’s Christian moral foundation, which made this nation the envy of the world and a haven for the oppressed.
“So that this nation may long endure, I urge you to follow in the hallowed footsteps of the great disobediences of history that freed exiles, founded religions, defeated tyrants, and yes, in the hands of an aroused rabble in arms and a few great men, by God’s grace, built this Country.”
But something terribly evil and insidious has invaded the heart and soul of America. It is a cancer known as secular humanism. Secular humanism believes…Man begins from himself, with no knowledge except what he himself can discover, and no standards outside of himself - Man is the measure of all things. The concepts of reality between Christianity and secular humanism stand in antithesis to each other. In addition to this atheistic, secular basis for society, we now have a “sociological law” that has no fixed moral base. It is law, in which a group of people decide what is sociologically good for society at any given moment, and, what they arbitrarily decide, becomes law. As this new sociological law has moved away from our original base of the Creator giving our “unalienable rights”, etc., it has naturally followed that this sociological law has also moved away from our Constitution.
Contrary to errant belief, the Constitution is NOT a living document. It is cast in stone, just like the Ten Commandments. Further, we are a Constitutional Republic. However, through evil and subversive intent we have morphed into a democracy…which accounts for the terrible shape we are in as a Country.
The law, and especially the courts, have been kidnapped and used as the vehicle to force this total atheistic, humanistic way of thinking upon the entire population. The abortion law is a perfect example. The Supreme Court’s abortion ruling invalidated abortion laws in all fifty states, even though, it is statistically very clear, in 1973 most Americans were against abortion. It did not matter. The Supreme Court arbitrarily ruled that abortion was legal. Overnight they overthrew the state laws and forced onto American thinking, not only that abortion was legal, but that it was ethical. They, as a secular humanist elite, thus forced their will on the majority, not withstanding that their ruling was arbitrary and capricious, both legally and medically. To further compound this assault on the innocent unborn, the Ms. Roe of “Roe v. Wade, confessed in 1995 that she had lied in her case and she was not pregnant because of rape. Therefore, as is usual, most things evil revolve around a lie.
It is both reassuring and terrifying to understand that God is not mocked. America belonged to God from her inception, and unless she repents and returns to her Christian roots, she will end as a reprobate on the pages of history. Surely, even the Court can see the overwhelming substantive evidence which states that America was founded as a Christian nation. But whether this Court agrees is really not important. The Supreme Court of the Universe holds the record for all time, from which there is no appeal.
The Defense rests…

Excellent read. thx.
I have often wondered if God did not allow obumer to become President to wake up the sleeping giant, Christian America. To wake them up to create the Tea Parties to bring this country back to God where it needs to be and should be. The lefties can leave or be driven out because that is what it is coming to. They are children of Satan and we dont need or want them here in our Christian Nation. God Bless America,
bttt
Weather it was devine intervetion i cant say for sure.I do beleve in God and i know he guided our founding fathers in the creation of the greatest nation on earth.I also beleve he intended for us to keep it that way.
Thank you, Barbara, for this excellent article. We must remember that, with all of the chaos around us that God is still on the throne. When everything appears to be falling apart around us (and in the natural it certainly is), we need to remember to pray for our beloved country as well as Israel. I pray daily for America and Israel and find that, as I pray for Israel I am blessed many times over. God has a divine plan for America. Yes, we are probably suffering His wrath for our sins right now. Yet He said that if HIS people would humble themselves and pray He would heal our land. It's up to us, folks. The atheists aren't going to do it. It's up to us to take our kids out of these elitist universities and demand truth. I believe that God will honor the Christians in this nation and He will spare the true remnant. It is really hard to pray for our enemies but we are commanded to. I'll admit, I don't do it nearly enough. I pray for God's grace to forgive us and to humble us and everyone who has contributed to the mess we are now in. He will honor our prayers. We must remember that GOD IS ON OUR SIDE! Be blessed!
Very good read. Thank you. Yes, I believe we are a Christian nation and once we have started down that
path to total depravity our nation as we new it is in deep trouble. As a retired US Army veteran I'm deeply concerned
for my 3 children, girls, and both my two grandsons. I pray daily for them. I do believe in devine providence and Jesus
as our only salvation thru him who died for our sins on the cross. Romans 10:9
In this belief we rest but there is an evil force we all contend with. Ephesians 6:12
"For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places."
Amen....and Amen...! Even so Lord, come..! Oooo....Raaahhh...! Semper Fi....!
Gene Swank thanks for saying that, it is exactly how i feel and exactly what i was thinking .

As you walk up the steps to the building which houses the U..S Supreme Court you can see near the top of the building a row of the world's law givers and each one is facing one in the middle who is facing forward with a full frontal view
It is Moses and he is holding the Ten Commandments!
DID YOU KNOW?
As you enter the Supreme Court courtroom, the two huge oak doors have the Ten Commandments engraved on each lower portion of each door.
DID YOU KNOW? As you sit inside the courtroom, you can see the wall, right above where the Supreme Court Judges sit, a display of the Ten Commandments!
