I was blessed enough to see this wonderful memorial as a child. My Grandfather had been there several times and after he passed, my Father took some of his ashes there as he requested. I look back and have actually some very fond memories of that solemn trip. I remember standing as we prayed before dad spread the little box of ashes to the wind in front of the cross. Looking up at the cross while my father said a prayer, I thought of what this memorial meant to grandpa.

I am not asking for you to send donations to this group or any other, but we can make calls and send letters so that those in DC understand that this must be land must be turned over as it was ruled.

      Update on Mojave Cross Case
DTMD - Logo

Dear Friend of Liberty,

A few weeks ago, Liberty Institute filed a lawsuit against President Obama and key administration officials.  Let me tell you why.

As you know, American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) lawyers have tried since 2001 to remove a cross that had stood harmlessly for decades in the Mojave Desert as a memorial to World War I dead.

Thanks to your support, Liberty Institute went to the Supreme Court to defend the cross.  We won that case last year, with the Justices citing our brief 12 times.  But we barely had time to celebrate when heartless vandals came in the middle of the night and wrecked the cross.

Because the Supreme Court ruled that the cross was permissible, it should be okay to immediately replace the vandalized one—right?  But here’s what’s truly shocking...

Incredibly, the Obama administration refuses to transfer the land on which the Mojave Desert Veterans Memorial stood to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) as directed by an Act of Congress.

To add insult to injury, President Obama refuses to allow the VFW to rebuild the vandalized memorial.

And he opposed the VFW’s intervention into a lawsuit brought by the ACLU aimed at thwarting the will of Congress and the Supreme Court.  Think about it this way...

We have a President who supports the Ground Zero mosque and speaks out, but he refuses to open his mouth in defense of the presence of a cross on a sacred war memorial—a cross that now stands vandalized.  This is a disgrace, and there’s no excuse for it.

This is why we have filed suit against the President and key members of the administration.  We are trying to force them to do the right thing: support our veterans and restore this memorial.

So far, our staff and our affiliate attorneys have invested more than $500,000 to stop the ACLU’s and atheists’ attacks on the Mojave cross and other Christian-themed war memorials.

Liberty Institute can only keep fighting these and other legal battles if you continue to stand with us.  Your prayers and your gifts are crucially important.  Please donate now.

Your gift will help win this case and stop the ACLU from achieving its ultimate goal, which is to tear down all religiously based memorials in every community in every state in this country.

We must tell these left-wing organizations and President Obama that we won’t have our freedoms boarded up or our values destroyed.

I urge you to show your support of Liberty Institute’s efforts to defend religious freedom and our nation’s heritage.  Give now.

Sincerely,
