Ready Kits:
Fire:
Toothpicks……kindling, small stakes
Bics from 99 cent stores….fire, light
Packets of salt, sugar and pepper from discount restaurant supply…electro lyte, seasoning, hypo-glycemia and kindling
Coffee filters….strainers, toilet needs, wash cloths, and kindling
Napkins…toilet needs, pressure bleeding needs and kindling
Sheet metal, pliable to form into cooking pan, water bowl for animal or human….plus splinting, cutting, ground cover, reflection
Hemostats or regular pliars and TRAUMA shears from 99 cent store…cutting and or lifting hot or sharp edged items…you can get something like a Swiss knife or the pliar, screwdriver tool with multi-use…maybe BOTH
Matches from restaurants that offer them (wooden are best, kindling..)
Power+Plus - Metal wire coated with wire cutter…100 M (328 ft)..I get mine at the 99 cent store in Az but the distributor is Momentum Brand Commerce Ca 90023 – this product comes in a self- contained container and even has an attached wire cutter. It is EASY to manage but quite durable single or doubled…..anchoring, binding, securing, framing.
2 Double zip bags….always take the LARGEST size available….better to have one too big and use the empty space to pack above items in than to have nothing to protect above items from weather. Transport liquids like water from stream to campsite
Box cutter that will hold those old fashioned single edged razors
Single edged razor blades…I recommend a FULL box…cut, carve, whittle, lance, cauterize (heat but use hema-stats or pliars to hold sharp, hot or really cold items
HEAVY duty Aluminum foil sheets that are pre-cut ….. cooking, warmth, reflection…you can get these at restaurant supply too…..very compact and ultra light weight.
DUCT TAPE
……………………See how compactly you can pack these items and note the weight you will need to carry!
